The Papal Basilica and the Sacred Convent of Saint Francis in Assisi in Italy are characterized by unique and composite particularities that need an exhaustive knowledge of the sites themselves to guarantee visitor's security and safety, considering all the people and personnel normally present in the site, visitors with disabilities and finally the needs for cultural heritage preservation and protection. This aim can be reached using integrated systems and innovative technologies, such as Internet of Everything (IoE), which can connect people, things (smart sensors, devices and actuators; mobile terminals; wearable devices; etc.), data/information/knowledge and processes to reach the wanted objectives. The IoE system must implement and support an Integrated Multidisciplinary Model for Security and Safety Management (IMMSSM) for the specific context, using a multidisciplinary approach. The purpose of the paper is to illustrate the integrated survey for the reconstruction of the considered site that was necessary to obtain all the necessary information to start to set up the considered IMMSSM and the related IoE based technological system

The continuous quality improvement is an obligatory condition for the achievement and maintaining of the performance in healthcare services. Introducing the concepts of quality improvement in medical practice represents a distinctive component of the hospital reform in Romania. Healthcare quality is a more important principle in sanitary field, because the level of patients ‘knowledge is increasing concomitantly with the technological and therapeutic progresses. The continuous quality improvement is an obligatory condition for the achievement and maintaining the performance in healthcare organization, especially in hospital. The integration of many management systems (quality management, environmental management, security and occupational health management, information security management) and the development of an integrated management model applicable to Romanian hospitals, which have as principal goal to improve the performance of health services, represent a challenge for the Romanian health system. An integrated management system is a logical and systematic managerial approach, which permits taking-up optimum strategic and operational decisions. These decisions take into consideration all the essential aspects which lead to an efficient functionality of health organization, in terms of quality, environment, security and occupational health, and information security.healthcare, hospital, quality, integrated management system

This is the published version of the article. Copyright 2010 Mary Ann Liebert Inc.During the last few years, wireless networks have been increasingly used both inside hospitals and in patients’ homes to transmit medical information. In general, wireless networks suffer from decreased security. However, digital watermarking can be used to secure medical information. In this study, we focused on combining wireless transmission and digital watermarking technologies to better secure the transmission of medical images within and outside the hospital. Methods: We utilized an integrated system comprising the wireless network and the digital watermarking module to conduct a series of tests. Results: The test results were evaluated by medical consultants. They concluded that the images suffered no visible quality degradation and maintained their diagnostic integrity. Discussion: The proposed integrated system presented reasonable stability, and its performance was comparable to that of a fixed network. This system can enhance security during the transmission of medical images through a wireless channel. The General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Hellenic Ministry of Development and the British Council

Quality Risk Management – An Integrated Approach in the Mining Industry

    Get PDF
The continued development of management system standards into areas such as environment, health and safety, and information security has reinforced the calls for an integrated approach. In the mining field, characterized by a high level of specificity, an integrated approach to underground activities should not omit the influence of the risk factors. In this context QRM can be not just a solution, but also a necessity.

PT.AJBS is a company that works in providing items/machinery for industrial purposes. PT.AJBS has many product lines Therefore, implementing a new and capable information system is a must. The new system need to have modules such as invetory, transaction, customer & supplier data and accounting journal. These modules need to be integratedto the new system, called Integrated Trading System. In addition, information security management is important because company's information is an important asset for the company. PT.AJBS need to audit their current information security system to find out the level of security PT.AJBS has. ISO 27002 is the standard that PT.AJBS has to be met when auditing. ISO 27002 standard is chosen because of its flexibility. It can be tailored according to the company's needs, company's visions, company's security system requirement, business processes, human resource needa and the structure of the organization, as well as information security system management. The result of maturity level 2.49 is produced from the implementation of information security system audit. The result is categorized to level 2, which is repeatable. This research also produces reccomendations for PT.AJBS such as better information system processes and improvement in level of information securit

An Assurance Framework for Independent Co-assurance of Safety and Security

Integrated safety and security assurance for complex systems is difficult for many technical and socio-technical reasons such as mismatched processes, inadequate information, differing use of language and philosophies, etc.. Many co-assurance techniques rely on disregarding some of these challenges in order to present a unified methodology. Even with this simplification, no methodology has been widely adopted primarily because this approach is unrealistic when met with the complexity of real-world system development. This paper presents an alternate approach by providing a Safety-Security Assurance Framework (SSAF) based on a core set of assurance principles. This is done so that safety and security can be co-assured independently, as opposed to unified co-assurance which has been shown to have significant drawbacks. This also allows for separate processes and expertise from practitioners in each domain. With this structure, the focus is shifted from simplified unification to integration through exchanging the correct information at the right time using synchronisation activities

The article reveals an attempt to create an integrated information system for energy security monitoring, for instance in Yakutia, in terms of a vivid and typical representative of isolated areas with extreme temperature conditions. The analysis of area assessment of renewable energy and energy security strengthening of decentralized power supply systems is given. The research considers the worked out algorithm which determines the renewable energy attractiveness coefficient in connection with energy security assessment indicators. The document includes the results of the analysis of the energy situation in Yakutia with the help of geoinformation software product, the illustrative fragment of integrated information system modules. The implementation of the developed system results in fast analysis of occurring issues, indicators calculating as a foundation for strategic platform to manage energy security positions. The system assists to tackle the problems in advance
