    Design and application of variable-to-variable length codes

    This work addresses the design of minimum redundancy variable-to-variable length (V2V) codes and studies their suitability for using them in the probability interval partitioning entropy (PIPE) coding concept as an alternative to binary arithmetic coding. Several properties and new concepts for V2V codes are discussed and a polynomial-based principle for designing V2V codes is proposed. Various minimum redundancy V2V codes are derived and combined with the PIPE coding concept. Their redundancy is compared to the binary arithmetic coder of the video compression standard H.265/HEVC

    Fifth generation cellular networks aim to provide new types of services. Prominent amongst these are industrial automation and vehicle-to-vehicle communications. Such new use cases demand lower latencies and higher reliability along with greater flexibility than current and past generations of cellular technologies allow. Enabling these new service types requires the introduction of device-to-device communications (D2D). This work investigated network-controlled D2D schemes wherein cellular base stations retain control over spectrum usage. D2D nodes assemble into clusters. Each D2D cluster then organises itself as it sees fit within the constraints imposed by the cellular network. A review of proposed D2D control schemes was conducted to identify pertinent interference issues. Measurements were then devised to empirically collect quantitative data on the impact of this interference. Measurements were conducted using a software-defined radio (SDR) platform. An SDR based system was selected to enable a low cost and highly flexible iterative approach to development while still providing the accuracy of real-world measurement. D2D functionality was added to the chosen SDR system with the essential parts of Long Term Evolution Release 8 implemented. Two series of measurements were performed. The first aimed to determine the adjacent channel interference impact of a cellular user being located near a D2D receiver. The second measurement series collected data on the co-channel interference of spectrum re-use between a D2D link and a moving cellular transmitter. Based on these measurements it was determined that D2D communications within a cellular system is feasible. Furthermore, the required frequency of channel state information reporting as a function of node velocity was determined.Viidennen sukupolven solukkoverkoilla pyritään mahdollistamaan uudentyyppisiä palveluja kuten teollisuusautomatiikkaa ja ajoneuvojen välistä viestintää. Tämänkaltaiset uudet käyttötarkoitukset vaativat lyhyempien viiveiden ja korkeammat luotettavuuden ohella myös suurempaa joustavuutta kuin minkä nykyisen sukupolven matkapuhelinverkkoteknologiat sallivat. Edellä mainittujen uusien palvelujen toteuttaminen vaatii suoria laitteiden välisiä yhteyksiä (engl. D2D). Tässä diplomityössä keskityttiin tutkimaan verkkohallinteisia D2D-rakenteita, joissa solukkoverkko hallinnoi spektrin käyttöä. D2D-päätteet liittyvät yhteen muodostaakseen klustereita, jotka hallinnoivat sisäistä tietoliikennettään parhaaksi katsomallaan tavalla solukkoverkon asettamien rajoitusten puitteissa. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla selvitettiin aiemmissa tutkimuksissa esitetyille D2D-ratkaisuille yhteiset interferenssiongelmat. Näiden vaikutusta ja suuruutta tutkittiin mittausten avulla. Mittaukset toteutettiin ohjelmistoradioalustan (engl. SDR) avulla. SDR-pohjaisen järjestelmän käyttö mahdollisti edullisen ja joustavan tavan kerätä empiirisiä mittaustuloksia. D2D-toiminnallisuus lisättiin Long Term Evolution Release 8:n olennaiset ominaisuudet omaavaan alustaan. Tällä alustalla toteutettiin kaksi mittaussarjaa. Ensimmäisellä kerättiin tuloksia viereisellä kanavalla toimivan matkapuhelimen D2D-vastaanottimelle aiheuttamasta interferenssistä näiden ollessa toistensa läheisyydessä. Toisella mittaussarjalla selvitettiin samalla kanavalla toimivan D2D-yhteyden ja liikkuvan matkapuhelimen välistä interferenssiä.     Contributions to the Performance Analysis of Intervehicular Communications Systems and Schemes

    RÉSUMÉ Le but des systèmes de communication intervéhicule (Inter-Vehicle Communication – IVC) est d'améliorer la sécurité de conduite en utilisant des capteurs et des techniques de communication sans fil pour être en mesure de communiquer mutuellement sans aucune intervention extérieure. Avec l'utilisation de ces systèmes, les communications véhicule à véhicule (V2V) peuvent être plus efficaces dans la prévention des accidents et la décongestion de la circulation que si chaque véhicule travaillait individuellement. Une des solutions proposées pour les systèmes IVC est l’utilisation des systèmes de communication coopérative, qui en principe, augmentent l'efficacité spectrale et énergétique, la couverture du réseau, et réduit la probabilité de défaillance. La diversité d'antenne (entrées multiples sorties multiples « Multiple-Input Multiple-Output » ou MIMO) peut également être une alternative pour les systèmes IVC pour améliorer la capacité du canal et la diversité (fiabilité), mais en échange d’une complexité accrue. Toutefois, l'application de telles solutions est difficile, car les communications sans fil entre les véhicules sont soumises à d’importants effets d'évanouissements des canaux appelés (canaux sujets aux évanouissements de n*Rayleigh, « n*Rayleigh fading channels»), ce qui conduit à la dégradation des performances. Par conséquent, dans cette thèse, nous proposons une analyse de la performance globale des systèmes de transmission coopératifs et MIMO sur des canaux sujets aux évanouissements de n*Rayleigh. Cette analyse permettra d’aider les chercheurs pour la conception et la mise en œuvre de systèmes de communication V2V avec une complexité moindre. En particulier, nous étudions d'abord la performance de la sélection du relais de coopération avec les systèmes IVC, on suppose que la transmission via « Amplify-and-Forward» (AF) ou bien «Decode-and-Forward» (DF) est assurée par N relais pour transférer le message de la source à la destination. La performance du système est analysée en termes de probabilité de défaillance, la probabilité d'erreur de symbole, et la capacité moyenne du canal. Les résultats numériques démontrent que la sélection de relais réalise une diversité de l'ordre de (d≈mN/n) pour les deux types de relais, où m est un paramètre évanouissement de Rayleigh en cascade. Nous étudions ensuite la performance des systèmes IVC à sauts multiples avec et sans relais régénératifs. Dans cette étude, nous dérivons des expressions approximatives pour la probabilité de défaillance et le niveau d’évanouissement lorsque la diversité en réception basée sur le ratio maximum de combinaison (MRC) est employée. En outre, nous analysons la répartition de puissance pour le système sous-jacent afin de minimiser la probabilité globale de défaillance. Nous montrons que la performance des systèmes régénératifs est meilleure que celle des systèmes non régénératifs lorsque l’ordre de cascade n est faible, tandis qu’ils ont des performances similaires lorsque n est élevé. Ensuite, nous considérons le problème de la détection de puissance des signaux inconnus aux n* canaux de Rayleigh. Dans ce travail, de nouvelles expressions approximatives sont dérivées de la probabilité de détection moyenne avec et sans diversité en réception MRC. En outre, la performance du système est analysée lorsque la détection de spectre coopérative (CSS) est considérée sous diverses contraintes de canaux (par exemple, les canaux de communication parfaits et imparfaits). Les résultats numériques ont montré que la fiabilité de détection diminue à mesure que l'ordre n augmente et s’améliore sensiblement lorsque CSS emploie le schéma MRC. Il est démontré que CSS avec le schéma MRC maintient la probabilité de fausse alarme minimale dans les canaux d’information imparfaite plutôt que d'augmenter le nombre d'utilisateurs en coopération. Enfin, nous présentons une nouvelle approche pour l'analyse des performances des systèmes IVC sur n*canaux de Rayleigh, en utilisant n_T antennes d'émission et n_R antennes de réception pour lutter contre l'effet d’évanouissement. Dans ce contexte, nous évaluons la performance des systèmes MIMO-V2V basés sur la sélection des antennes d'émission avec un ratio maximum de combinaison (TAS/MRC) et la sélection combinant (TAS/SC). Dans cette étude, nous dérivons des expressions analytiques plus précises pour la probabilité de défaillance, la probabilité d'erreur de symbole, et l’évanouissement sur n*canaux Rayleigh. Il est montré que les deux régimes ont le même ordre de diversité maximale équivalent à (d≈mn_T n_R /n) . En outre, TAS / MRC offre un gain de performance mieux que TAS/ SC lorsque le nombre d'antennes de réception est plus que celle des antennes d’émission, mais l’amélioration de la performance est limitée lorsque n augmente.----------Abstract The purpose of intervehicular communication (IVC) systems is to enhance driving safety, in which vehicles use sensors and wireless communication techniques to talk to each other without any roadside intervention. Using these systems, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications can be more effective in avoiding accidents and traffic congestion than if each vehicle works individually. A potential solution can be implemented in this research area using cooperative communications systems which, in principle, increase spectral and power efficiency, network coverage, and reduce the outage probability. Antenna diversity (i.e., multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) systems) can also be an alternative solution for IVC systems to enhance channel capacity and diversity (reliability) but in exchange of an increased complexity. However, applying such solutions is challenging since wireless communications among vehicles is subject to harsh fading channels called ‘n*Rayleigh fading channels’, which leads to performance degradation. Therefore, in this thesis we provide a comprehensive performance analysis of cooperative transmission and MIMO systems over n*Rayleigh fading channels that help researchers for the design and implementation of V2V communication systems with lower complexity. Specifically, we first investigate the performance of cooperative IVC systems with relay selection over n*Rayleigh fading channels, assuming that both the decode-and-forward and the amplify-and-forward relaying protocols are achieved by N relays to transfer the source message to the destination. System performance is analyzed in terms of outage probability, symbol error probability, and average channel capacity. The numerical results have shown that the best relay selection approach achieves the diversity order of (d≈mN/n) where m is a cascaded Rayleigh fading parameter. Second, we investigate the performance of multihop-IVC systems with regenerative and non-regenerative relays. In this study, we derive approximate closed-form expressions for the outage probability and amount of fading when the maximum ratio combining (MRC) diversity reception is employed. Further, we analyze the power allocation for the underlying scheme in order to minimize the overall outage probability. We show that the performance of regenerative systems is better than that of non-regenerative systems when the cascading order n is low and they have similar performance when n is high. Third, we consider the problem of energy detection of unknown signals over n*Rayleigh fading channels. In this work, novel approximate expressions are derived for the average probability of detection with and without MRC diversity reception. Moreover, the system performance is analyzed when cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is considered under various channel constraints (e.g, perfect and imperfect reporting channels). The numerical results show that the detection reliability decreases as the cascading order n increases and substantially improves when CSS employs MRC schemes. It is demonstrated that CSS with MRC scheme keeps the probability of false alarm minimal under imperfect reporting channels rather than increasing the number of cooperative users. Finally, we present a new approach for the performance analysis of IVC systems over n*Rayleigh fading channels, using n_T transmit and n_R receive antennas to combat fading influence. In this context, we evaluate the performance of MIMO-V2V systems based on the transmit antenna selection with maximum ratio combining (TAS/MRC) and selection combining (TAS/SC) schemes. In this study, we derive tight analytical expressions for the outage probability, the symbol error probability, and the amount of fading over n*Rayleigh fading channels. It is shown that both schemes have the same maximum diversity order equivalent to (d≈mn_T n_R /n). In addition, TAS/MRC offers a better performance gain than TAS/SC scheme when the number of receive antennas is more than that of transmit antennas, but the performance improvement is limited as n increases

    Handoff management for infotainment services over vehicular networks

    Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) has impulsed the vehicular communications at the present time. The vehicular communications field is a hot research topic and is attracting a great interest in the automotive industry and telecommunications. There are essentially two main lines of work: (1) communication services related to road safety and traffic information; and (2) information and entertainment services, also named infotainment services. These latter services include both transmitting multimedia (voice over IP, streaming, on-line gaming, etc.) and classic data services (e-mail, access to private networks, web browsing, file sharing, etc.). In this thesis we will focus on these infotainment services because further research in this immature research field is necessary and, until nowadays, the main effort of the research community regarding vehicular communication has been focused on road safety and traffic information. Vehicular nodes need to be reached from the Internet and vice versa to be able to access to infotainment services. While vehicles move along the road infrastructure, they change their wireless point of attachment to the network. During this process, connectivity breaks down until the vehicle is connected again to a new road side unit in its area. This disconnection causes a disruption in the communications. Fast handoffs are a crucial requirement for vehicular networks to avoid long disruption times, since the high speed of vehicular nodes involves suffering a lot of handoffs during an Internet connection. This thesis is focused on Vehicular-to-Infrastructure (V2I) real-time infotainment services. The main contributions of this thesis are: i) a new testing framework for V2I communications to be able to test infotainment services in an easy way; ii) the analysis of the deployability of infotainment video services in vehicular networks using mobility protocols; and iii) the development of a new TCP architecture that will provide a better performance for all TCP-based infotainment services in a vehicular scenario with handoffs. In this thesis, firstly, we propose a new testing framework for vehicular infotainment applications. This framework is a vehicular emulation platform that allows testing real applications installed on Linux virtual machines. Using emulation, we are able to evaluate the performance of real applications with real-time requirements, so we can test multimedia applications used to offer infotainment services in vehicular scenarios in a straightforward way. Secondly, using the testing framework implemented in the first part of the thesis, we have done a performance evaluation of an infotainment service. Among these services, we think that video on demand services on highways will be interesting for users, and generate revenue to network operators. So we evaluated how network-layer handoffs can limit the deployment of a video streaming service. According to the results obtained, driving at high speeds will be an issue for a correct playback of video content, even using fast handoffs techniques. Finally, we developed a new TCP architecture to enhance performance during handoffs. Most of the non-safety services on ITS rely on the Transport Control Protocol (TCP), one of the core protocols of the Internet Protocol Suite. However there exists several issues related to TCP and mobility that can affect to TCP performance, and these issues are particularly important in vehicular networks due to its high mobility. Using new IEEE 802.21 MIH services, we propose a new TCP architecture that is able to anticipate handoffs, permitting to resume the communication after a handoff, avoiding long delays caused by TCP issues and adapting the TCP parameters to the new characteristics of the network. Using the architecture proposed, the performance of TCP is enhanced, getting a higher overall throughput and avoiding TCP fairness issues between users.Els Sistemes de Transport Intel·ligents (ITS) han impulsat les comunicacions vehiculars en l'actualitat. Les comunicacions vehiculars és un camp d'investigació de moda, i està atraient un gran interès en la indústria automobilística i de les telecomunicacions. En el camp de les comunicacions vehiculars, hi ha principalment dues línies de treball: (1) serveis de comunicacions relacionats amb la seguretat viària i la informació del trànsit; i (2) serveis d'informació i entreteniment, també anomenats serveis d'infotainment. Aquests últims inclouen tant serveis multimèdia (veu sobre IP, streaming, jocs on-line, etc.), com serveis clàssics de dades (correu electrònic, accés a xarxes privades, navegació web, compartir arxius, etc.). En aquesta tesi ens centrarem en aquests serveis d'infotainment ja que és necessari aprofundir en la investigació per aquests tipus de serveis, ja que, fins avui, els esforços de la comunitat científica en el camp de les comunicacions vehiculars s'ha centrat en els serveis relacionats amb la seguretat viària i la informació del trànsit. Els nodes vehiculars necessiten tenir connexió a Internet per a poder tenir accés als serveis d'infotainment. Mentre els vehicles estan en moviment a través de la xarxa viària, els vehicles han d'anar canviant el punt de connexió sense fils amb la xarxa. Durant aquest procés de canvi de punt de connexió, anomenat handoff, es perd la connectivitat fins que el vehicle es reconnecta a un altre punt de connexió viària prop de la seva àrea. Aquesta desconnexió causa interrupcions en les comunicacions. Uns handoffs ràpids són bàsics a les xarxes vehiculars per a evitar llargs períodes d'interrupció durant les comunicacions, ja que la gran velocitat a la que es mouen els nodes vehiculars significa un gran nombre de handoffs durant una connexió a Internet. Aquesta tesi es centra en serveis d'infotaiment en temps real per a comunicacions Vehicle-a-Infraestructura (V2I). Les principals contribucions d'aquesta tesi son: i) un nou marc de proves per a les comunicacions (V2I) per a poder provar serveis d'infotainment d'una manera fàcil; ii) l'anàlisi de la viabilitat del desplegament de serveis d'infotainment de vídeo en xarxes vehiculars utilitzant protocols de mobilitat IP; i iii) el desenvolupament d'una nova arquitectura TCP que proporciona un millor funcionament per a tots aquells serveis d'infotainment basats en el protocol TCP en un escenari vehicular amb handoffs. En aquesta tesi, primer proposem un nou marc de proves per a aplicacions vehiculars d'infotainment. Aquest marc és una plataforma d'emulació vehicular que permet provar aplicacions reals instal·lades en màquines virtuals Linux. Utilitzant l'emulació, som capaços d'avaluar el rendiment d'aplicacions reals amb característiques de temps real. D'aquesta manera es poden avaluar aplicacions multimèdia utilitzades per oferir serveis d'infotainment d'una forma senzilla en escenaris vehiculars. Segon, utilitzant el marc de prova implementat en la primera part de la tesi, hem avaluat el rendiment d'un servei d'infotainment. Entre aquest tipus de servei, creem que els serveis de vídeo sota demanda en autopistes/autovies serà interessant pels usuaris i generarà beneficis per als operadors de la xarxa. Per tant, hem avaluat com els handoffs a nivell de la capa de xarxa poden limitar el desplegament d'un servei de streaming de vídeo sota demanda. D'acord amb els resultats obtinguts, conduir a grans velocitats podria ser un problema per a poder reproduir un vídeo correctament, tot i utilitzar tècniques de handoffs ràpids. Finalment, hem desenvolupat una nova arquitectura TCP per a millorar el rendiment del protocol durant els handoffs. La majoria dels serveis d'infotainment utilitzen el Protocol de Control de Transport (TCP), un dels principals protocols de la pila de protocols d'Internet.     Beyond 5G Networks: Integration of Communication, Computing, Caching, and Control

    In recent years, the exponential proliferation of smart devices with their intelligent applications poses severe challenges on conventional cellular networks. Such challenges can be potentially overcome by integrating communication, computing, caching, and control (i4C) technologies. In this survey, we first give a snapshot of different aspects of the i4C, comprising background, motivation, leading technological enablers, potential applications, and use cases. Next, we describe different models of communication, computing, caching, and control (4C) to lay the foundation of the integration approach. We review current state-of-the-art research efforts related to the i4C, focusing on recent trends of both conventional and artificial intelligence (AI)-based integration approaches. We also highlight the need for intelligence in resources integration. Then, we discuss integration of sensing and communication (ISAC) and classify the integration approaches into various classes.     Comunicações veiculares híbridas

    Vehicle Communications is a promising research field, with a great potential for the development of new applications capable of improving road safety, traffic efficiency, as well as passenger comfort and infotainment. Vehicle communication technologies can be short-range, such as ETSI ITS-G5 or the 5G PC5 sidelink channel, or long-range, using the cellular network (LTE or 5G). However, none of the technologies alone can support the expected variety of applications for a large number of vehicles, nor all the temporal and spatial requirements of connected and autonomous vehicles. Thus, it is proposed the collaborative or hybrid use of short-range communications, with lower latency, and of long-range technologies, potentially with higher latency, but integrating aggregated data of wider geographic scope. In this context, this work presents a hybrid vehicle communications model, capable of providing connectivity through two Radio Access Technologies (RAT), namely, ETSI ITS-G5 and LTE, to increase the probability of message delivery and, consequently, achieving a more robust, efficient and secure vehicle communication system. The implementation of short-range communication channels is done using Raw Packet Sockets, while the cellular connection is established using the Advanced Messaging Queuing Protocol (AMQP) protocol. The main contribution of this dissertation focuses on the design, implementation and evaluation of a Hybrid Routing Sublayer, capable of isolating messages that are formed/decoded from transmission/reception processes. This layer is, therefore, capable of managing traffic coming/destined to the application layer of intelligent transport systems (ITS), adapting and passing ITS messages between the highest layers of the protocol stack and the available radio access technologies. The Hybrid Routing Sublayer also reduces the financial costs due to the use of cellular communications and increases the efficiency of the use of the available electromagnetic spectrum, by introducing a cellular link controller using a Beacon Detector, which takes informed decisions related to the need to connect to a cellular network, according to different scenarios. The experimental results prove that hybrid vehicular communications meet the requirements of cooperative intelligent transport systems, by taking advantage of the benefits of both communication technologies. When evaluated independently, the ITS-G5 technology has obvious advantages in terms of latency over the LTE technology, while the LTE technology performs better than ITS-G5, in terms of throughput and reliability.As Comunicações Veiculares são um campo de pesquisa promissor, com um grande potencial de desenvolvimento de novas aplicações capazes de melhorar a segurança nas estradas, a eficiência do tráfego, bem com o conforto e entretenimento dos passageiros. As tecnologias de comunicação veícular podem ser de curto alcance, como por exemplo ETSI ITS-G5 ou o canal PC5 do 5G, ou de longo alcance, recorrendo à rede celular (LTE ou 5G). No entanto, nenhuma das tecnologias por si só, consegue suportar a variedade expectável de aplicações para um número de veículos elevado nem tampouco todos os requisitos temporais e espaciais dos veículos conectados e autónomos. Assim, é proposto o uso colaborativo ou híbrido de comunicações de curto alcance, com latências menores, e de tecnologias de longo alcance, potencialmente com maiores latências, mas integrando dados agregados de maior abrangência geográfica. Neste contexto, este trabalho apresenta um modelo de comunicações veiculares híbrido, capaz de fornecer conectividade por meio de duas Tecnologias de Acesso por Rádio (RAT), a saber, ETSI ITS-G5 e LTE, para aumentar a probabilidade de entrega de mensagens e, consequentemente, alcançar um sistema de comunicação veicular mais robusto, eficiente e seguro. A implementação de canais de comunicação de curto alcance é feita usando Raw Packet Sockets, enquanto que a ligação celular é estabelecida usando o protocolo Advanced Messaging Queuing Protocol (AMQP). A contribuição principal desta dissertação foca-se no projeto, implementação e avaliação de uma sub camada hibrída de encaminhamento, capaz de isolar mensagens que se formam/descodificam a partir de processos de transmissão/receção. Esta camadada é, portanto, capaz de gerir o tráfego proveniente/destinado à camada de aplicação de sistemas inteligentes de transportes (ITS) adaptando e passando mensagens ITS entre as camadas mais altas da pilha protocolar e as tecnologias de acesso rádio disponíveis. A sub camada hibrída de encaminhamento também potencia uma redução dos custos financeiros devidos ao uso de comunicações celulares e aumenta a eficiência do uso do espectro electromagnético disponível, ao introduzir um múdulo controlador da ligação celular, utilizando um Beacon Detector, que toma decisões informadas relacionadas com a necessidade de uma conexão a uma rede celular, de acordo com diferentes cenários. Os resultados experimentais comprovam que as comunicações veículares híbridas cumprem os requisitos dos sistemas cooperativos de transporte inteligentes, ao tirarem partido das vantagens de ambas tecnologias de comunicação. Quando avaliadas de forma independente, constata-se que que a tecnologia ITS-G5 tem vantagens evidentes em termos de latência sobre a tecnologia LTE, enquanto que a tecnologia LTE tem melhor desempenho que a LTE, ai nível de débito e fiabilidade.Mestrado em Engenharia Eletrónica e Telecomunicaçõe

    Distributed scheduling algorithms for LoRa-based wide area cyber-physical systems

    Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) are a class of wireless communication protocols that work over long distances, consume low power and support low datarates. LPWANs have been designed for monitoring applications, with sparse communication from nodes to servers and sparser from servers to nodes. Inspite of their initial design, LPWANs have the potential to target applications with higher and stricter requirements like those of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Due to their long-range capabilities, LPWANs can specifically target CPS applications distributed over a wide-area, which is referred to as Wide-Area CPS (WA-CPS). Augmenting WA-CPSs with wireless communication would allow for more flexible, low-cost and easily maintainable deployment. However, wireless communications come with problems like reduced reliability and unpredictable latencies, making them harder to use for CPSs. With this intention, this thesis explores the use of LPWANs, specifically LoRa, to meet the communication and control requirements of WA-CPSs. The thesis focuses on using LoRa due to its high resilience to noise, several communication parameters to choose from and a freely modifiable communication stack and servers making it ideal for research and deployment. However, LoRaWAN suffers from low reliability due to its ALOHA channel access method. The thesis posits that "Distributed algorithms would increase the protocol's reliability allowing it to meet the requirements of WA-CPSs". Three different application scenarios are explored in this thesis that leverage unexplored aspects of LoRa to meet their requirements. The application scenarios are delay-tolerant vehicular networks, multi-stakeholder WA-CPS deployments and water distribution networks. The systems use novel algorithms to facilitate communication between the nodes and gateways to ensure a highly reliable system. The results outperform state-of-art techniques to prove that LoRa is currently under-utilised and can be used for CPS applications.Open Acces
