Research Directions, Challenges and Issues in Opinion Mining
Rapid growth of Internet and availability of user reviews on the web for any product has provided a need for an effective system to analyze the web reviews. Such reviews are useful to some extent, promising both the customers and product manufacturers. For any popular product, the number of reviews can be in hundreds or even thousands. This creates difficulty for a customer to analyze them and make important decisions on whether to purchase the product or to not. Mining such product reviews or opinions is termed as opinion mining which is broadly classified into two main categories namely facts and opinions. Though there are several approaches for opinion mining, there remains a challenge to decide on the recommendation provided by the system. In this paper, we analyze the basics of opinion mining, challenges, pros & cons of past opinion mining systems and provide some directions for the future research work, focusing on the challenges and issues
US/UK Mental Models of Planning: The Relationship Between Plan Detail and Plan Quality
This paper presents the results of a research study applying a new cultural analysis method to capture commonalities and differences between US and UK mental models of operational planning. The results demonstrate the existence of fundamental differences between the way US and UK planners think about what it means to have a high quality plan. Specifically, the present study captures differences in how US and UK planners conceptualize plan quality. Explicit models of cultural differences in conceptions of plan quality are useful for establishing performance metrics for multinational planning teams. This paper discusses the prospects of enabling automatic evaluation of multinational team performance by combining recent advances in cultural modelling with enhanced ontology languages
CYCLOSA: Decentralizing Private Web Search Through SGX-Based Browser Extensions
By regularly querying Web search engines, users (unconsciously) disclose
large amounts of their personal data as part of their search queries, among
which some might reveal sensitive information (e.g. health issues, sexual,
political or religious preferences). Several solutions exist to allow users
querying search engines while improving privacy protection. However, these
solutions suffer from a number of limitations: some are subject to user
re-identification attacks, while others lack scalability or are unable to
provide accurate results. This paper presents CYCLOSA, a secure, scalable and
accurate private Web search solution. CYCLOSA improves security by relying on
trusted execution environments (TEEs) as provided by Intel SGX. Further,
CYCLOSA proposes a novel adaptive privacy protection solution that reduces the
risk of user re- identification. CYCLOSA sends fake queries to the search
engine and dynamically adapts their count according to the sensitivity of the
user query. In addition, CYCLOSA meets scalability as it is fully
decentralized, spreading the load for distributing fake queries among other
nodes. Finally, CYCLOSA achieves accuracy of Web search as it handles the real
query and the fake queries separately, in contrast to other existing solutions
that mix fake and real query results
Leveraging Indexical Pragmatics (OFIP) for Search Engine: An Ontology- based Approach
The relevance of search results is an important indicator of information retrieval performance. A domain-specific Search Engine (SE), distinct from a general web SE, focuses on a specific segment of online content and may increase search results relevance. Traditional methods to improve domain-specific SE precision heavily depend on query expansion, lexical analysis of texts, and large amounts of training data. These methods suffer from limited effectiveness and efficiency because expanded query terms and coarse language features bring in uncontrollable complexity and increase dimensionality. Our design, leveraging the integrated power of computational syntax, semantics, and indexical pragmatics, proposes an ontology-driven framework that is tailored to work in a dynamic Internet environment without large amounts of manually annotated training data. This article presents our design, that is essential for building a domain-specific SE, and its instantiation in the terrorism domain
Adversarial Training in Affective Computing and Sentiment Analysis: Recent Advances and Perspectives
Over the past few years, adversarial training has become an extremely active
research topic and has been successfully applied to various Artificial
Intelligence (AI) domains. As a potentially crucial technique for the
development of the next generation of emotional AI systems, we herein provide a
comprehensive overview of the application of adversarial training to affective
computing and sentiment analysis. Various representative adversarial training
algorithms are explained and discussed accordingly, aimed at tackling diverse
challenges associated with emotional AI systems. Further, we highlight a range
of potential future research directions. We expect that this overview will help
facilitate the development of adversarial training for affective computing and
sentiment analysis in both the academic and industrial communities
