Smart education for smart textiles
The aim of this paper is to present the main objectives and achievements of the Skills4Smartex project,
according to its declared goals. The Erasmus+ project "Smart textiles for STEM training" is funded with support
from the European Commission and it is a Strategic partnership - KA2 / Vocational Education and Training
(VET), in the field of transfer of innovation from research providers towards textile enterprises & VET schools.
The students within technical education acquire basic disciplines, such as mathematics, physics, technical
drawing, chemistry, biology, mechanics, but the horizon of the end applications and usefulness of such basic
disciplines is often not touchable. In correlation with these facts, the Skills4Smartex project is centred on
improving knowledge, skills and employability of VET students in the STEM related fields, by providing the
adequate training instruments to understand multidisciplinary working
A Project Based-Learning Design in 2D and 3D CADD Training with Inventor 2020 for Increasing Teachers’ Competence of Machinery Engineering
Teachers with good competency will impact the quality of Education. The teachers' responsibility in educating, teaching, guiding, managing, training, and evaluating must be well-developed so that the results can directly contribute in improving the quality of education because qualified teachers could manifest a highly qualified education. Therefore, some factors that have determinant values need to be considered as necessary to construct qualified teachers. Teachers' competency improvement can be made in various ways, including through the training session. Teacher training aimed to advance the competence of teachers, especially for Machinery Engineering teachers so that they can meet the specified standards. The training model designed in the paper sought to explain 2D and 3D CADD training with the 2020 inventor using the project-based learning model. This paper was expected to be able to manifest the concept of teacher training using Project Based-Learning in training institution so that it can be able to help in improving the teachers' competency
When Your Teachers Fail You: The Necessity of Improving Teachers Training for Quality Education in Cameroon
With the underlying hypothesis that the quality of a teachers’ training is directly proportional to the quality of education pupils eventually receive, this essay explores and critiques the basic education teacher training process in Cameroon, using two notable educational theories to assess the possibility of quality education resulting from Cameroonian government-trained basic education teachers. It was found that there is dire need to improve the quality of teachers we train to ensure that they can deliver the quality of education we seek. A brief outline of suggestions is made towards improving the flawed training system

Education and training for people working with and caring for those with diabetes
The growing need for healthcare workers to be given education and training in diabetes care, along with the focus on improving self-management of the condition, prompted The Open University to launch 'Diabetes Care', a 20-week, first-level course, in 2005. The course was designed to meet the needs of lay people as well as those wishing to undertake a nationally accredited programme of study. It was immediately oversubscribed and continues to be extremely popular. The course model is being replicated in the design of two additional courses in preparation, 'Understanding Cardiovascular Diseases' and 'Managing Obesity'.
– There is a substantial and growing demand for education and training in diabetes and its self-management, as evidenced by the ongoing popularity of the 'Diabetes Care' (SK120) course offered by The Open University
– SK120 is a 20-week, entry-level course providing 15 CATS points that has been offered since September 2005
– It is based on a series of case studies presented via a DVD-ROM, a CD-ROM, a course book and online discussion forums
– The model is being replicated in the preparation of two further courses focusing on cardiovascular diseases and the management of obesit
Towards developing an industry led educational framework using LEAN approach
The poor performance and inefficient manner in which the construction industry operates has been recognised through a variety of combined government and industry initiatives over the years. A major challenge towards improvement is recognised as lying with education and industry stakeholders actively creating closer and more effective relationships to facilitate a greater mutual understanding.
The application of Information Technology (IT) systems can well enhance ‘Lean’ initiatives through improving process flow, reduction of the non-added value activities, better meet customers’ requirements and adding value which will increase the performance of the industry.
This paper presents a project that is focused on developing an industry led framework for educational training programmes. The outcomes of two workshops organised with the industry that have resulted in a Continued Professional Development (CPD) training framework comprising of three distinct levels in terms of strategic, operational and technology aspects of that particular key area are discussed. The essence of this work is based on adopting the ‘Lean’ approach and adding value by identifying the IT skills gaps recognised ‘by the industry’ ‘for the industry’ and addressing them in developing training programmes
Learning through action research and technology
In the context of changing or improving social practice, in education in particular, it emerges that teachers’ values and concerns need to be addressed and that this can be done through involving teachers in critical reflective dialogue and developing a more open attitude to educational practice.
The focus of this article is on the action research approach to learning of the MSc in Education and Training Management programme (eLearning strand) and in particular, how participants of the programme engage in action research. It integrates improving practice with knowledge creation
Human Capital and Romania’s Perspective in the EU
The source of improving people life standard depends, alongside other factors, on efforts oriented towards education, research, and knowledge enrichment. It is also related to development and dissemination of high performance technology, with knowledge development, skills and abilities, professional training able to realize, disseminate, and use innovation. However, these investments in human capital will lead to good results by extending the active life of skilled workers, by improving the general health status of the population, by preserving the environment, by improving food products quality. All these are the more valid for Romania’s economy, the more it needs to be integrated in the Western European area, which is a highly competitive area. Or, relative sub-investment in autochthonous human capital might force our country to develop comparative advantages in border fields from the point of view of productivity, to specialize in fields that intensively use raw materials, to turn into a low paid labour market.human capital, human investment, economic theory
Can Sexuality Education Advance Gender Equality and Strengthen Education Overall? Learning from Nigeria's Family Life and HIV Education Program
The imperative to prepare the largest generation of young people in history for adulthood has driven a search for fresh approaches to educating adolescents about their bodies and sexuality. Recently, there have been calls among health experts and educators for a comprehensive, integrated approach to sexuality education that addresses not only health issues such as HIV and pregnancy, but also helps to achieve broader outcomes such as ensuring gender equality, increasing access to education for girls, and improving the quality of education overall. Considerable international attention has been paid to the Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE) program in Nigeria. While the program does not formally aim to achieve broader development goals, nongovernmental organizations in some states have effectively brought a strong commitment to gender equality into local FLHE programs. This report synthesizes a two-tiered review of the FLHE program. It draws both on a formal case study examining effects of the training on teacher attitudes and practices and on a wider, more informal program analysis. The findings from both resonate with each other and are synthesized in this report
