    Get PDF
Many businesses are now using Internet websites as a competitive tool to attract new customers, improve service quality, and boost overall financial performance. Recent studies have identified a number of website development and evaluation guidelines required to enhance the effectiveness of these new technologies in achieving these goals. One of these guidelines relates to the importance of website usability in improving business performance. To achieve this goal, a unified measure of web usability is developed using a number of relevant guidelines, which were initially proposed by Nielsen and Tahir (2002), and then the estimated index is used to measure its impact on community bank performance. Results based on a multiple regression model show that banks with higher usability score perform significantly better than those with lower score

E-government service delivery performance has been discussed in literature as a way governments use information technologies (IT) to deliver valuable services to their citizens at a lower cost. This paper examines the effectiveness of website-supported Balanced Scorecard’s four dimensions (innovation and learning, internal process, veteran value proposition, and financial) in improving e-government service delivery performance. The study used content analysis to analyze the data obtained from a sample of 19 county veteran service officers (CVSOs) to test the hypotheses. CVSOs use websites to serve veterans on a Government-to-Citizen (G2C) basis. The results show that the different aspects of the relations between CVSOs and veterans fit with the four interrelated balanced scorecard factors. The results also show that three of the four website-supported Balanced Scorecard dimensions (learning and innovation, internal process, and veteran value proposition) have a positive impact on e-government service delivery performance. However, the impact of the fourth website-supported Balanced Scorecard perspective (financial) on e-government service delivery performance is different because of the digital divide among the various generations of veterans

ORGB: Offset Correction in RGB Color Space for Illumination-Robust Image Processing

Single materials have colors which form straight lines in RGB space. However, in severe shadow cases, those lines do not intersect the origin, which is inconsistent with the description of most literature. This paper is concerned with the detection and correction of the offset between the intersection and origin. First, we analyze the reason for forming that offset via an optical imaging model. Second, we present a simple and effective way to detect and remove the offset. The resulting images, named ORGB, have almost the same appearance as the original RGB images while are more illumination-robust for color space conversion. Besides, image processing using ORGB instead of RGB is free from the interference of shadows. Finally, the proposed offset correction method is applied to road detection task, improving the performance both in quantitative and qualitative evaluations.Comment: Project website: https://baidut.github.io/ORGB

Websites are the main information source for investors, so the quality of companies’ websites are vital. This study explores the website quality of listed companies in Thailand and draws a comparison between SMEs’ and large firms’ website quality. In total, concrete and overall objective measures of 271 listed companies (136 large firms from the SET market and 135 SMEs from the MAI market) are collected using a website evaluation tool called SEOptimer. Non-parametric statistics are employed for data analysis due to non-normality. Findings reveal the room for improving the website quality for both SMEs and large companies in each industry. SMEs significantly have lower website quality in terms of SEO, performance, social, security, and overall compared to large enterprises. This study presents the research opportunities to explore listed companies in other countries using other tools in the future and guides SMEs and large companies in Thailand to effectively improve their website quality from the reliable measures and practical suggestions
