RACOFI: A Rule-Applying Collaborative Filtering System

    Get PDF
In this paper we give an overview of the RACOFI (Rule-Applying Collaborative Filtering) multidimensional rating system and its related technologies. This will be exemplified with RACOFI Music, an implemented collaboration agent that assists on-line users in the rating and recommendation of audio (Learning) Objects. It lets users rate contemporary Canadian music in the five dimensions of impression, lyrics, music, originality, and production. The collaborative filtering algorithms STI Pearson, STIN2, and the Per Item Average algorithms are then employed together with RuleML-based rules to recommend music objects that best match user queries. RACOFI has been on-line since August 2003 at http://racofi.elg.ca.

This research aims to develop moral values and constructivism through a bilingual learning model with a BCCT approach. The theory of an English learning model through a BCCT approach can be used byteachers of early childhood education not only to improve the communication skills of students but also tounleash all the potentials of children by promoting freedom of choice, stimulation of creativity and charactergrowth. The study begins with a preliminary study to map out the implementation of bilingual learningwith a BCCT approach based on moral values and constructivism in early childhood education whichconsists of two phases, namely, the study of literature and field studies. It is followed by the stage ofplanning based on the analysis of needs so as to make the design of bilingual learning model with a BCCTapproach based on moral values and constructivism. The analysis and interpretation of data as a result of reflection and evaluation of the developmenof the learning model are used as a reference guide to produce a bilingual learning model with a BCCTapproach based on constructivism and moral values that can be used by early childhood education teachersin their respective schools

Exploring the Implementation of Cambridge Curriculum in Early Elementary English Education: A Case Study

    Get PDF
This study investigates the application of the Cambridge curriculum in teaching English to young learners, focusing on how it is tailored to their specific needs. The research was conducted at a private Islamic elementary school in Surakarta, Central Java, and centered around the teaching practices of an English teacher at the school. Through structured interviews and observations, the study aimed to gain a thorough understanding of the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum in early English education. The findings show that the teacher primarily used audio-visual and translation methods for instruction. The materials utilized included both printed and electronic books from Cambridge, enhanced with digital resources like videos, Quizizz, and the Spin Wheel application. Additionally, the study explored the assessment methods used, which encompassed daily evaluations, mid-term, and final tests. The qualitative analysis of this data provides valuable insights into the effective implementation of the Cambridge curriculum in a real elementary school environment

Translate the Beauty in Songs: Jointly Learning to Align Melody and Translate Lyrics

Song translation requires both translation of lyrics and alignment of music notes so that the resulting verse can be sung to the accompanying melody, which is a challenging problem that has attracted some interests in different aspects of the translation process. In this paper, we propose Lyrics-Melody Translation with Adaptive Grouping (LTAG), a holistic solution to automatic song translation by jointly modeling lyrics translation and lyrics-melody alignment. It is a novel encoder-decoder framework that can simultaneously translate the source lyrics and determine the number of aligned notes at each decoding step through an adaptive note grouping module. To address data scarcity, we commissioned a small amount of training data annotated specifically for this task and used large amounts of augmented data through back-translation. Experiments conducted on an English-Chinese song translation data set show the effectiveness of our model in both automatic and human evaluation.Comment: 13 page
