Comparative Analysis of Image Enhancement Quality Based on Domains

    Get PDF
First method is spatial domain and the effective of four diverse image spatial techniques (histogram equalization, adaptive histogram, histogram matching, and unsharp masking) produce sharpening and smoothening of image. Secondly, frequency domain technique and the effective of three diverse image spatial techniques (bilateral, homo-morphic and trilateral filter) were examined to achieve low noise image. Finally, SVD,QR,SLANT and HADAMARD was examined whichincreased human visual. For the above techniques, different quality parameters are evaluated. From the above evaluation, the proposed method identifies the best method among the three domains

Fuzzy Logic-Based Histogram Equalization for Image Contrast Enhancement

Fuzzy logic-based histogram equalization (FHE) is proposed for image contrast enhancement. The FHE consists of two stages. First, fuzzy histogram is computed based on fuzzy set theory to handle the inexactness of gray level values in a better way compared to classical crisp histograms. In the second stage, the fuzzy histogram is divided into two subhistograms based on the median value of the original image and then equalizes them independently to preserve image brightness. The qualitative and quantitative analyses of proposed FHE algorithm are evaluated using two well-known parameters like average information contents (AIC) and natural image quality evaluator (NIQE) index for various images. From the qualitative and quantitative measures, it is interesting to see that this proposed method provides optimum results by giving better contrast enhancement and preserving the local information of the original image. Experimental result shows that the proposed method can effectively and significantly eliminate washed-out appearance and adverse artifacts induced by several existing methods. The proposed method has been tested using several images and gives better visual quality as compared to the conventional methods

An Efficient and Self-Adapted Approach to the Sharpening of Color Images

An efficient approach to the sharpening of color images is proposed in this paper. For this, the image to be sharpened is first transformed to the HSV color model, and then only the channel of Value will be used for the process of sharpening while the other channels are left unchanged. We then apply a proposed edge detector and low-pass filter to the channel of Value to pick out pixels around boundaries. After that, those pixels detected as around edges or boundaries are adjusted so that the boundary can be sharpened, and those nonedge pixels are kept unaltered. The increment or decrement magnitude that is to be added to those edge pixels is determined in an adaptive manner based on global statistics of the image and local statistics of the pixel to be sharpened. With the proposed approach, the discontinuities can be highlighted while most of the original information contained in the image can be retained. Finally, the adjusted channel of Value and that of Hue and Saturation will be integrated to get the sharpened color image. Extensive experiments on natural images will be given in this paper to highlight the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach
