Creative products in international trade statistics
Changes in international statistics relating to the methods of classifying trade transactions in goods and services are analyzed in the further part of this paper. The author of the study makes also an attempt to evaluate if these changes are aimed at increasing the inclusion of embodied services and services delivered electronically into the value of international trade in services.Celem publikacji jest wykazanie, iż większość produktów wytwarzanych przez "przemysły kreatywne", to w rzeczywistości kreatywne usługi zawarte w towarach, a w międzynarodowej wymianie produktami kreatywnymi dominują produkty usługowe. W dalszej części publikacji analizie poddano zmiany w statystykach międzynarodowych, dotyczące sposobu klasyfikacji transakcji w handlu towarami i usługami. Autor publikacji podejmuje również próbę oceny tych zmian, pod kątem tego czy zmierzają one w kierunku zwiększenia stopnia włączenia usług zawartych w towarach oraz usług przesyłanych w formie sygnału elektronicznego do wartości międzynarodowego handlu usługami

A component-based product line architecture for workflow management systems
This paper presents a component-based product line for workflow management systems. The process followed to design the product line was based on the Catalysis method. Extensions were made to represent variability across the process. The domain of workflow management systems has been shown to be appropriate to the application of the product line approach as there are a standard architecture and models established by a regulatory board, the Workflow Management Coalition. In addition, there is a demand for similar workflow management systems but with some different features. The product line architecture was evaluated with Rapide simulation tools. The evaluation was based on selected scenarios, thus, avoiding implementation issues. The strategy that has been used to populate the architecture and experiment with the product line is shown. In particular, the design of the workflow execution manager component is described
A Product Line Systems Engineering Process for Variability Identification and Reduction
Software Product Line Engineering has attracted attention in the last two
decades due to its promising capabilities to reduce costs and time to market
through reuse of requirements and components. In practice, developing system
level product lines in a large-scale company is not an easy task as there may
be thousands of variants and multiple disciplines involved. The manual reuse of
legacy system models at domain engineering to build reusable system libraries
and configurations of variants to derive target products can be infeasible. To
tackle this challenge, a Product Line Systems Engineering process is proposed.
Specifically, the process extends research in the System Orthogonal Variability
Model to support hierarchical variability modeling with formal definitions;
utilizes Systems Engineering concepts and legacy system models to build the
hierarchy for the variability model and to identify essential relations between
variants; and finally, analyzes the identified relations to reduce the number
of variation points. The process, which is automated by computational
algorithms, is demonstrated through an illustrative example on generalized
Rolls-Royce aircraft engine control systems. To evaluate the effectiveness of
the process in the reduction of variation points, it is further applied to case
studies in different engineering domains at different levels of complexity.
Subject to system model availability, reduction of 14% to 40% in the number of

Using Feature Models for Distributed Deployment in Extended Smart Home Architecture
Nowadays, smart home is extended beyond the house itself to encompass
connected platforms on the Cloud as well as mobile personal devices. This Smart
Home Extended Architecture (SHEA) helps customers to remain in touch with their
home everywhere and any time. The endless increase of connected devices in the
home and outside within the SHEA multiplies the deployment possibilities for
any application. Therefore, SHEA should be taken from now as the actual target
platform for smart home application deployment. Every home is different and
applications offer different services according to customer preferences. To
manage this variability, we extend the feature modeling from software product
line domain with deployment constraints and we present an example of a model
that could address this deployment challenge
A Process Framework for Semantics-aware Tourism Information Systems
The growing sophistication of user requirements in tourism due to the advent of new technologies such as the Semantic Web and mobile computing has imposed new possibilities for improved intelligence in Tourism Information Systems (TIS). Traditional software engineering and web engineering approaches cannot suffice, hence the need to find new product development approaches that would sufficiently enable the next generation of TIS. The next generation of TIS are expected among other things to: enable
semantics-based information processing, exhibit natural language capabilities, facilitate inter-organization exchange of information in a seamless way, and
evolve proactively in tandem with dynamic user requirements. In this paper, a product development approach called Product Line for Ontology-based Semantics-Aware Tourism Information Systems (PLOSATIS) which is a novel
hybridization of software product line engineering, and Semantic Web engineering concepts is proposed. PLOSATIS is presented as potentially effective, predictable and amenable to software process improvement initiatives
Analysis reuse exploiting taxonomical information and belief assignment in industrial problem solving
To take into account the experience feedback on solving complex problems in business is deemed as a way to improve the quality of products and processes. Only a few academic works, however, are concerned with the representation and the instrumentation of experience feedback systems. We propose, in this paper, a model of experiences and mechanisms to use these experiences. More specifically, we wish to encourage the reuse of already performed expert analysis to propose a priori analysis in the solving of a new problem. The proposal is based on a representation in the context of the experience of using a conceptual marker and an explicit representation of the analysis incorporating expert opinions and the fusion of these opinions. The experience feedback models and inference mechanisms are integrated in a commercial support tool for problem solving methodologies. The results obtained to this point have already led to the definition of the role of ‘‘Rex Manager’’ with principles of sustainable management for continuous improvement of industrial processes in companies
Software model refactoring based on performance analysis: better working on software or performance side?
Several approaches have been introduced in the last few years to tackle the
problem of interpreting model-based performance analysis results and
translating them into architectural feedback. Typically the interpretation can
take place by browsing either the software model or the performance model. In
this paper, we compare two approaches that we have recently introduced for this
goal: one based on the detection and solution of performance antipatterns, and
another one based on bidirectional model transformations between software and
performance models. We apply both approaches to the same example in order to
illustrate the differences in the obtained performance results. Thereafter, we
raise the level of abstraction and we discuss the pros and cons of working on
