    Hospital administration

The Administrator of a hospital, particularly of a teaching hospital, is faced with the task of organising increasingly complex and specialised, high technology institutions, under constant pressure to improve patient care and community services, training of health personnel, and to seek new knowledge, therapies and techniques. In addition, acute general hospitals are being forced to re-examine their goals and functions in the light of greater competition from other health and social services for scarce resources - and of changing environmental circumstances. These activities must be undertaken in the context of new theories of management with greater emphasis on the psycho-social aspects of organisation, decision-making processes and advances in information-processing techniques. To be equipped for this task the hospital administrator must also acquire new knowledge and skills. It was therefore frustrating to discover that no training courses for hospital administrators, medical or otherwise were available in this country and that there was a dearth of literature with specific reference to the Republic. Thus, it was as a measure of desperation that this thesis was embarked on, in order to satisfy a personal need to learn about the theory of administration and to meet the need for basic research into, and documentation of, hospital administration in South Africa. In view of the necessity to study virtually every aspect of the subject and the fact that so little research had been done on the management of South African hospitals, it was felt that hospital administration should be examined as a totality rather than selecting any single aspect of the subject. General Systems theory which views any open system as a whole, in constant interaction with its environment, provided an appropriate conceptual framework for the general study of hospital administration. The Groote Schuur Hospital Group provided a suitable model within which to l examine the application of general systems theory; for analysis of the environment, resources, organisation and products of a hospital; and upon which to base some general conclusions regarding the administration of hospitals, recommendations for change and for further research. This thesis which is presented in eight chapters with a short summary of the contents at the end of each chapter has examined one teaching hospital group as a whole system. No attempt has been made to study any aspect of hospital administration in great detail, but rather to identify areas where immediate changes can be implemented to improve the effective and efficient utilisation of resources, and those where further research is essential to find better ways of achieving these goals and meeting societal needs. In the words of Tenon - The hospital is the conscience of a civilisation whose worth, in the end will be measured not by articles of faith and lofty doctrines but by the way it nurtures life; succours distress, rights injustices and transforms misery, frailty and want into hope, dignity and sufficiency

Intervention: good hospital administration. Comparison: poor hospital administration. Outcome: patients’ satisfaction. The articles used in this study were obtained from three databases, namely Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Science Direct. Keywords to search for articles are “Hospital Administration” OR “Good Administration” OR “Hospital Services” AND “Patient Satisfaction” OR “Satisfaction” AND “Multivariate”. Articles included are full-text English from 2009 to 2021. Articles were selected using a PRISMA flow diagram. Articles were analyzed using the Review Manager 5.3 application. Results: A total of 7 cross-sectional study articles from Asia (China), Europe (Germany), and Africa (Ethiophia) were reviewed in the meta-analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that good hospital administration has the possibility to increase patient satisfaction 3.58 times compared with poor hospital administration (aOR= 3.58; 95% CI= 2.36 to 5.42; p<0.001) and the results were statistically significant. Conclusion: Hospital administration associated with patients statisfaction. Keywords: hospital, hospital administration, patient statisfaction, inpatients.Correspondence: Siti Maesaroh. Health informatics aims at studying the principal computer applications related to technology in developing human health care and solving the existing problems to facilitate efficient management. It helps in decision making process, hospital administration and system management and in catering the needs of clients/patients and doctors. However, the inadequacy of skilled manpower, resources and economy are the major hurdles to exploit the full potential of the technology and medical health facilities. Malnutrition and related causes are adversely affecting the nation from several angles. An integral approach would be able to mitigate the human sufferings

Let us start our discussion by indicating a frame of reference for the comments we wish to give about civil rights. Our discussion will relate primarily to patients, who have been hospitalized for the observation and treatment of mental illness. It is also based on the statutes in Ohio and on the practice in the courts and more especially in the receiving hospitals and state hospitals in Ohio. The receiving hospitals admit a high percentage of voluntary patients, whereas the state hospitals admit patients who have been committed

Vocational education tends to educate with practice rather than with mere theory; and internship programs become an important process of vocational education. Hospital administration department at Vocational Program, Universitas Indonesia also runs an internship program. Based on the background, the author is interested to conduct a research regarding the staff responses upon the performance of the students of the hospital administration program. Quantitative and qualitative approaches have been used at the same time in this research. This research uses a cross-sectional design. The subjects of this study are the alumni and interns from the Hospital Administration Program, Vocational Program, Universitas Indonesia. Variable on this research consists of seven variables regarding the performance of the interns. Those are integrity (ethics and moral), expertise in hospital administration science (professionalism), Englishlanguage skill, expertise in information technology, expertise in communication, teamwork and self-development. Based on the result, interns mostly have good score for seven indicators and only the English-language skill has a less score. The component that has the highest score is the ability to use information technology devices and teamwork that is 30.4%. Meanwhile, the ability to use English is the component that has the highest score as adequate rather than other components that is 30.4%. Several problems have been expressed by informants such as the lack of ability to operate Microsoft excel and use foreign language. Some recommendations have also been conveyed by informants such as adding certification in operating computer program and also adding soft skills in educational process.     Keywords: intern, alumni, job performance, vocational program, hospital administratio

Hospital information systems have an important role in clinical and administrative services. Hospitals need a management information system (MIS) and hospital administration management to improve the quality of medical services. Hospital MIS (SIMRS) and integrated hospital administration management are designed to integrate the main hospital functions into one unified system that is stored in a central database. Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 82 of 2013 Article 3 states that every hospital is obliged to implement a Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS). In Permenkes No. 30 of 2019 concerning electronically integrated business licensing or online single submission, hereinafter abbreviated as OSS, is a business license issued by the OSS institution for and on behalf of the minister, governor, or regent/mayor to hospital owners and managers through an integrated electronic system. The government is targeting all hospitals in Indonesia to have SIMRS which is integrated in the management of hospital administration. Hospitals that do not carry out SIMRS and good administrative management will affect the quality of service at the hospital, including causing human errors and mismanagement in recording health data, waiting time for services to be longer which can lead to accumulation of patients. The implementation of SIMRS and good and correct administrative management will have a positive impact on management, increase efficiency, and facilitate decision making in the future
