Smart Home Network based on Cisco Equipment
This paper develops and implements a smart home concept using sensors and actuators that are connected to a gateway via Wi-Fi communication protocol. The 3G/4G client can control the home remotely using an account on the IoT server. The project is simulated using the Cisco Packet Tracer simulation tool. Networking and programming is a powerful foundation for this research as it provides the interface between sensors actuators and devices to be controlled. The proposed system can be applied in many areas, including home security, lighting control, flame detection, intelligent heating, motion sensor, door control, etc., to provide homeowner comfort, safety, energy efficiency (low operating costs), and convenience at any time
An Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks for the Existing Protocols and Applications
Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of two or more devices or nodes
or terminals with wireless communications and networking capability that
communicate with each other without the aid of any centralized administrator
also the wireless nodes that can dynamically form a network to exchange
information without using any existing fixed network infrastructure. And it's
an autonomous system in which mobile hosts connected by wireless links are free
to be dynamically and some time act as routers at the same time, and we discuss
in this paper the distinct characteristics of traditional wired networks,
including network configuration may change at any time, there is no direction
or limit the movement and so on, and thus needed a new optional path Agreement
(Routing Protocol) to identify nodes for these actions communicate with each
other path, An ideal choice way the agreement should not only be able to find
the right path, and the Ad Hoc Network must be able to adapt to changing
network of this type at any time. and we talk in details in this paper all the
information of Mobile Ad Hoc Network which include the History of ad hoc,
wireless ad hoc, wireless mobile approaches and types of mobile ad Hoc
networks, and then we present more than 13 types of the routing Ad Hoc Networks
protocols have been proposed. In this paper, the more representative of routing
protocols, analysis of individual characteristics and advantages and
disadvantages to collate and compare, and present the all applications or the
Possible Service of Ad Hoc Networks.Comment: 24 Pages, JGraph-Hoc Journa
Performance Analysis and Improvement of WPAN MAC for Home Networks
The wireless personal area network (WPAN) is an emerging wireless technology for future short range indoor and outdoor communication applications. The IEEE 802.15.3 medium access control (MAC) is proposed to coordinate the access to the wireless medium among the competing devices, especially for short range and high data rate applications in home networks. In this paper we use analytical modeling to study the performance analysis of WPAN (IEEE 802.15.3) MAC in terms of throughput, efficient bandwidth utilization, and delay with various ACK policies under error channel condition. This allows us to introduce a K-Dly-ACK-AGG policy, payload size adjustment mechanism, and Improved Backoff algorithm to improve the performance of the WPAN MAC. Performance evaluation results demonstrate the impact of our improvements on network capacity. Moreover, these results can be very useful to WPAN application designers and protocol architects to easily and correctly implement WPAN for home networking
Software X10-UPNP Bridge
IADIS MULTI CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER SCIENCE AND
INFORMATION SYSTEMS 2008
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
JULY 22 - 24, 2008In a future of smart houses where multiple heterogeneous devices will be interconnected to provide new functionalities
and to ease everyday tasks, several issues will challenge the research, including interoperability and interfaces between
different systems. The work presented in this paper describes a software bridge that exposes X10 devices as UPnP
devices to UPnP control points, banking on the networks integration and alternatives to create mixed installations
that are optimized for ease, reliability and functionality
