    Information service is a vital component of guidance programme in schools. It provides students not only with basic knowledge about themselves but also knowledge in the areas of education, occupation and personal-social issues and decision making. Information is also vital during the counselling interview as the individual is assisted to understand himself/herself better. Formal guidance programme is being co-ordinated in Botswana Schools by the Guidance and Counselling Unit in the Department of Curriculum Development and Evaluation in the Ministry of Education. The Unit serves as the source of information in guidance and counselling for schools in Botswana and provides material in guidance and counselling. The University of Botswana also provides training in Counsellor Education for practitioners who offer guidance services in schools

    Realities of the Self-Employment Process in Romania

    The present analyse was developed within the framework of Self-Employment project, i.e. “Guidance and counselling for self-employment”, financed under EU Leonardo da Vinci Programme. The aim of this project is to identify the location and the value of guidance and counselling services addressed to people considering self-employment. The project conducted a survey of existing guidance and counselling services in different location addressed to educated and experienced persons who wish to start their own business, how they were assisted and provided necessary guidance. The project partners are from Austria, Poland, Romania and Finland. This complementary partnership represents the background of counselling and guidance, academic and education, research and analysis fields strengthen by small business orientation and experience in self-employment project. They represent environments of different level of national awareness, policies and educational offer. The present paper is based on the findings of the field study, aiming to identify the real needs of the self-employed and of the people considering self-employment and if supporting services available are suited to their needs.

    The purpose of this study is result module basic counselling skills that can be used by teachers guidance and counselling for process individual counselling services within solve students’ problems and to avoid malpractice counselling as well as improving the professional competence of guidance and counselling teachers. Researchers would like to examine the professional competence of the counsellor in terms of basic counselling skills (understanding and application of counselling theories and techniques) by guidance and counselling teachers, in helping to eradicate student problems through individual counselling services. This research is done by using research and development method. In addition to revealing the degree of mastery of theory and counselling techniques by guidance and counselling teachers, the accuracy of choice theory and counselling techniques, as well as the ability to use theory and techniques in individual counselling processes. Research location in SHS State of Metro city.     Undergraduate students’ differential performance in introductory course to guidance and counselling at Delta State University, Abraka

    The study examined the differential performance of guidance and counselling and non-guidance and counselling students. The two categories of students received tuition in EDUCATION 402, an introductory course in guidance and counselling. Additionally, guidance and counselling students took other counselling courses in pursuance of their bachelor’s degree. The counterparts from the departments of Educational Management and Foundations as well as Library and Information Science, relied on the knowledge of the introductory course in guidance and counselling. Descriptive survey design was employed in the study. A sample size of 121 students (50 from guidance and counselling department, 32 from Educational Management and Foundations, 39 from Library and Information Science) was drawn from the population of  final year students (2020/2021 session) Faculty of Education, Delta State University, Abraka, A 3-item essay test items was the instrument the students responded to. The statistical tool was the independent samples t-test. The data analysed showed statistical significance in favour of guidance and counselling students. This is attributable to their knowledge of other courses in guidance and counselling. It is hereby recommended that students from other departments should be encouraged to take more courses in counselling to enhance their academic performances

    Challenges Faced by Teachers in the Implementation of Guidance and Counselling in Eswatini Primary Schools

    Providing guidance and counselling in schools is one of the most important services a school has to have and it is the reason why the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) introduced guidance and counselling in both primary and high schools of Eswatini. However, there are obstacles that affect the effective implementation of guidance and counselling in schools. Thus, there was a need to find out the challenges teachers face in the implementation of guidance and counselling in Eswatini primary schools. The study was a qualitative study and it employed a multiple case study design. There were 27 participants from the Shiselweni guidance and counselling pilot schools who were selected purposively. Data were collected through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. A thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. The main findings of the study revealed that guidance and counselling is affected by role ambiguity for guidance and counselling teachers, lack of required resources and inadequate supervision. Therefore, there is a great need for the Ministry of Education and Training to develop clear policies for running and managing guidance and counselling services in schools.     Gestures in Guidance and Counselling and Their Pedagogical/Androgogical Implications

    The purpose of this paper was to x-ray the implications of gestures, their usage and relevance in guidance and counselling. The historical background of guidance and counselling was traced and concepts like guidance, counselling and gesture were clarified. Gestures as non-verbal cues in counselling do not stand on its own but embedded in other counselling techniques used during a counselling process from the beginning to the ending of counselling interview. The various forms of gestures, uses and application and their implications were explained to illustrate how gestures can be identify, explored and utilized by the experienced guidance counsellor and a conscientiser to help his/her client during counselling interview

Basically, education helps people to develop themselves in accordance with their nature, to choose the right direction in line with their potential, and to bring a diverse development towards the same goal as the human nature to become a whole person. To make real those functions of education, we need a system of education service in the education unit which relies not only on service-learning subjects/fields of study, but also on the special services which characterize psycho-education, i.e. service of guidance and counselling. The provision of guidance and counselling service cannot be separated from various factors. One of them is environment. Therefore, the provision of guidance and counselling service are different between one place to another place. It is influenced by several factors such as socio-cultural, environment, history, and so on. This article presents a comparison guidance and counselling between Indonesia and Malaysia, provides the history and development of guidance and counselling, issues and trends of guidance and counselling, guidance and counselling models, and the implementation of guidance and counselling models between both of the countries
