The Greedy Dirichlet Process Filter - An Online Clustering Multi-Target Tracker
Reliable collision avoidance is one of the main requirements for autonomous
driving. Hence, it is important to correctly estimate the states of an unknown
number of static and dynamic objects in real-time. Here, data association is a
major challenge for every multi-target tracker. We propose a novel multi-target
tracker called Greedy Dirichlet Process Filter (GDPF) based on the
non-parametric Bayesian model called Dirichlet Processes and the fast posterior
computation algorithm Sequential Updating and Greedy Search (SUGS). By adding a
temporal dependence we get a real-time capable tracking framework without the
need of a previous clustering or data association step. Real-world tests show
that GDPF outperforms other multi-target tracker in terms of accuracy and
stability
On Pairwise Costs for Network Flow Multi-Object Tracking
Multi-object tracking has been recently approached with the min-cost network
flow optimization techniques. Such methods simultaneously resolve multiple
object tracks in a video and enable modeling of dependencies among tracks.
Min-cost network flow methods also fit well within the "tracking-by-detection"
paradigm where object trajectories are obtained by connecting per-frame outputs
of an object detector. Object detectors, however, often fail due to occlusions
and clutter in the video. To cope with such situations, we propose to add
pairwise costs to the min-cost network flow framework. While integer solutions
to such a problem become NP-hard, we design a convex relaxation solution with
an efficient rounding heuristic which empirically gives certificates of small
suboptimality. We evaluate two particular types of pairwise costs and
demonstrate improvements over recent tracking methods in real-world video
sequences
An Efficient Multiple Object Vision Tracking System using Bipartite Graph Matching
For application domains like 11 vs. 11 robot soccer league, crowd surveillance and air traffic control, vision systems need to be able to identify and maintain information in real time about multiple objects as they move through an environment using video images. In this paper, we reduce the multi-object tracking problem to a bipartite graph matching and present efficient techniques that compute the optimal matching in real time. We demonstrate the robustness of our system on a task of tracking indistinguishable objects. One of the advantages of our tracking system is that it requires a much lower frame rate than standard tracking systems to reliably keep track of multiple objects
PPF - A Parallel Particle Filtering Library
We present the parallel particle filtering (PPF) software library, which
enables hybrid shared-memory/distributed-memory parallelization of particle
filtering (PF) algorithms combining the Message Passing Interface (MPI) with
multithreading for multi-level parallelism. The library is implemented in Java
and relies on OpenMPI's Java bindings for inter-process communication. It
includes dynamic load balancing, multi-thread balancing, and several
algorithmic improvements for PF, such as input-space domain decomposition. The
PPF library hides the difficulties of efficient parallel programming of PF
algorithms and provides application developers with the necessary tools for
parallel implementation of PF methods. We demonstrate the capabilities of the
PPF library using two distributed PF algorithms in two scenarios with different
numbers of particles. The PPF library runs a 38 million particle problem,
corresponding to more than 1.86 GB of particle data, on 192 cores with 67%
parallel efficiency. To the best of our knowledge, the PPF library is the first
open-source software that offers a parallel framework for PF applications.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures; will appear in the proceedings of the IET Data

Detect-and-Track: Efficient Pose Estimation in Videos
This paper addresses the problem of estimating and tracking human body
keypoints in complex, multi-person video. We propose an extremely lightweight
yet highly effective approach that builds upon the latest advancements in human
detection and video understanding. Our method operates in two-stages: keypoint
estimation in frames or short clips, followed by lightweight tracking to
generate keypoint predictions linked over the entire video. For frame-level
pose estimation we experiment with Mask R-CNN, as well as our own proposed 3D
extension of this model, which leverages temporal information over small clips
to generate more robust frame predictions. We conduct extensive ablative
experiments on the newly released multi-person video pose estimation benchmark,
PoseTrack, to validate various design choices of our model. Our approach
achieves an accuracy of 55.2% on the validation and 51.8% on the test set using
the Multi-Object Tracking Accuracy (MOTA) metric, and achieves state of the art
performance on the ICCV 2017 PoseTrack keypoint tracking challenge.Comment: In CVPR 2018. Ranked first in ICCV 2017 PoseTrack challenge (keypoint
