UoS: a graph-based system for graded word sense induction
This paper presents UoS, a graph-based Word Sense Induction system which attempts to find all applicable senses of a target word given its context, grading each sense according to its suitability to the context. Senses of a target word are induced through use of a non-parameterised, linear-time clustering algorithm that returns maximal quasi-strongly connected components of a target word graph in which vertex pairs are assigned to the same cluster if either vertex has the highest edge weight to the other. UoS participated in SemEval-2013 Task 13: Word Sense Induction for Graded and Non-Graded Senses. Two system were submitted; both systems returned results comparable with those of the best performing systems

Extensive reading in a second language : literature review and pedagogical implications
textThis Report explores the importance of including extensive reading (ER) program in English as a second language (ESL) or English as a foreign language (EFL) context. To find benefits and implications of L2 extensive reading, the Report reviews comprehensive literature on L2 extensive reading. Research has found that extensive reading enables L2 learners to achieve both cognitive and affective gains. Based on these findings, the report provides some pedagogical implications for an L2 program in ESL/EFL contexts. The suggestions include practical tips such as materials, useful ER activities, and a discussion of teacher roles in an extensive reading program.Foreign Language Educatio
Equivariant quantum cohomology of homogeneous spaces
We prove a Chevalley formula for the equivariant quantum multiplication of
two Schubert classes in the homogeneous variety X=G/P. As in the case when X is
a Grassmannian, studied by the author in a previous paper, this formula implies
an effective algorithm to compute the structure constants of the equivariant
quantum cohomology algebra of X.Comment: 21 page
