Nowadays globalization processes have become all-embracing. But at the same time, despite the ever-increasing flow of publications on globalization, our understanding and knowledge of it still leaves much to be desired. Especially it concerns the global processes in general, of which globalization is a part. We also need to systematize our ideas about globalization and Global Studies to somehow fit the realities. In particular, this concerns the education process, because the current state of education will determine the way people will perceive reality in the forthcoming decades. This yearbook aims at contributing to the solution of these important tasks. It is the third in the series of yearbooks titled Globalistics and Globalization Studies. This year it has the following subtitle: Aspects & Dimensions of Global Views. Its authors consider globalization and Global Studies in different dimensions and aspects: philosophical, methodological, and pedagogical, in terms of various processes, problems and perspectives. Of course, to some extent this means that this yearbook presents rather diverse materials. But globalization itself is very diverse. And its comprehension may proceed in the framework of different theoretical approaches and points of view. In the present yearbook one can find perceptions of globalization and Global Studies by a number of scholars from different countries of the world and learn rather peculiar visions of globalization by the Russian scientists and educators. The yearbook will be interesting to a wide range of researchers, teachers, students and all those who pay attention to global issues

This yearbook is the fourth in the series with the title Globalistics and Globalization Studies. The subtitle of the present volume is Global History & Big History. The point is that today our global world really demands global knowledge. Thus, there are a few actively developingmultidisciplinary approaches and integral disciplines among which one can name Global Studies,Global History and Big History. They all provide a connection between the past, present, andfuture. Big History with its vast and extremely heterogeneous field of research encompasses allthe forms of existence and all timescales and brings together constantly updated information fromthe scientific disciplines and the humanities. Global History is transnational or world historywhich examines history from a global perspective, making a wide use of comparative history andof the history of multiple cultures and nations. Global Studies express the view of systemicand epistemological unity of global processes. Thus, one may argue that Global Studies and Globalistics can well be combined with Global History and Big History and such a multidisciplinary approach can open wide horizons for the modern university education as it helps to form a global view of various processes

Globalistics and Globalization Studies: Global Transformations and Global Future

The present volume is the fifth in the series of yearbooks with the title Globalistics and Globalization Studies. The subtitle of the present volume is Global Transformations and Global Future. We become more and more accustomed to think globally and to see global processes. And our future can all means be global. However, is this statement justified? Indeed, in recent years, many have begun to claim that globalization has stalled, that we are rather dealing with the process of anti-globalization. Will not we find ourselves at some point again in an edifice spanning across the globe, but divided into national apartments, separated by walls of high tariffs and mutual suspicion? Of course, some setbacks are always possible, because the process of globalization cannot develop smoothly. It is a process which is itself emerging from contradictions and is shaped by a new contradiction. They often go much further than underlying systemic changes allow. They break forward, as the vanguard of a victorious army, and then often meet resistance of various social and political forces and may suddenly start to roll back just at the moment when everyone expects their further offensive. We believe that this is what is happening with globalization at present. The yearbook will be interesting to a wide range of researchers, teachers, students and all those who are concerned about global issues

This article deals with vocational education as an element of globalization in the modern world. The aim of the article is to determine the basic issues in the field of vocational education in times of globalization. The article focuses on such issues as the specificity of vocational education in Poland and in the world, the importance of vocational education for the contemporary world, the concept and features of globalization, determinants of globalization in the modern world and vocational education as a result of globalizing the world today. A man from a citizen of a given state has become a citizen of the world. This fact brings with it both a lot of advantages and many threats, including in the sphere of vocational education, for which ubiquitous changes have brought many new challenges. This particularly applies to the adaptation of curricula to the needs of societies operating in new economic, social and cultural conditions, including taking action to reduce the disproportion between the knowledge mastered by students and the skills or the extension of specialist education. Vocational education must face the necessity of changing priorities in order to educate mobile employees of the market economy, active and capable of continuous self-education, in accordance with globalization trends. Szkolnictwo zawodowe musi zmierzyć się z koniecznością zmiany priorytetów, aby zgodnie z trendami globalizacyjnymi kształcić mobilnych pracowników gospodarki rynkowej, aktywnych i zdolnych do ciągłego samokształcenia

Patterns in Global Studies Programs: Examining similarities between master's degree programs

This thesis emerges from the growing relevance of degree programs in the global society and from the interest in the field of study in Global Studies (GS). This field is relatively new and has set high goals for itself. Global Studies scholars often define the field as innovative and barrier-breaker, saying that GS should go beyond existing disciplines in explaining global and local issues and networks from a global and critical perspective. In this context, the purpose of this thesis is to examine master’s degree programs and find more about the existing similarities and differences between these programs. Making use of World Society Theory, I search for similarities in the reading list of the introductory courses in master’s degree programs in four universities in Northern Europe - Humboldt University, in Germany, University of Iceland, Roskilde University, in Denmark, and University of Gothenburg, in Sweden. Within the reading lists, I search for patterns in authors and texts featured in them, in addition to the area of study appearing in the lists and the topics brought up by the texts. The study is conducted using a mix of content analysis and frequency analysis. To complement the analysis, I examine geographically specific texts (GSTs) and the vocabulary of the texts included in the reading lists using a word count software. The research finds that similarities appear less than expected. Universities tend to rely on similar areas of study to build up their reading list, but other aspects do not present the same level of affinity. Authors and texts hardly repeat between universities and themes overlap occasionally. The local context seems to have a determinant influence over the programs. Moreover, the GSTs reveal that centralized regions of the world receive more space in the list while marginalized areas receive little to no space. The word count mainly shows that the texts’ rely on state-centric vocabulary. The findings indicate that GS programs are not fully structured yet, with some mismatches between theory and practice. While the theory of Global Studies heavily argues for interdisciplinarity, critical thinking, global perspective, and awareness of structural inequalities, the literature used in the master’s degree programs is still rather conventional. This shows that the Global Studies academic community needs to put more effort into making GS all it says it is

    Has deglobalization already begun ?

It's hard to definitively say whether deglobalization has already begun. It's a complex concept that sparks a lot of debate. Some argue that we're already seeing signs of deglobalization, like countries becoming more protectionist or bringing back their production. But others believe that globalization is still very much present, with increasingly integrated global supply chains. There are arguments for both sides. For instance, trade tensions between major economic powers can be seen as signs of deglobalization. But at the same time, we're also witnessing growing international cooperation in certain areas. In summary, it's a complex and constantly evolving topic. We need to continue to closely monitor economic and political trends to better understand what's happening on a global scale
