Formalization of Universal Algebra in Agda
In this work we present a novel formalization of universal algebra in Agda. We show that heterogeneous signatures can be elegantly modelled in type-theory using sets indexed by arities to represent operations. We prove elementary results of heterogeneous algebras, including the proof that the term algebra is initial and the proofs of the three isomorphism theorems. We further formalize equational theory and prove soundness and completeness. At the end, we define (derived) signature morphisms, from which we get the contravariant functor between algebras; moreover, we also proved that, under some restrictions, the translation of a theory induces a contra-variant functor between models.Fil: Gunther, Emmanuel. What is a categorical model of arrows?
We investigate what the correct categorical formulation of Hughes’ Arrows should be. It has long been folklore that Arrows, a functional programming construct, and Freyd categories, a categorical notion due to Power, Robinson and Thielecke, are somehow equivalent. In this paper, we show that the situation is more subtle. By considering Arrows wholly within the base category we derive two alternative formulations of Freyd category that are equivalent to Arrows—enriched Freyd categories and indexed Freyd categories. By imposing a further condition, we characterise those indexed Freyd categories that are isomorphic to Freyd categories. The key differentiating point is the number of inputs available to a computation and the structure available on them, where structured input is modelled using comonads
Partial inner product spaces: Some categorical aspects
We make explicit in terms of categories a number of statements from the
theory of partial inner product spaces (PIP spaces) and operators on them.
In particular, we construct sheaves and cosheaves of operators on certain PIP
spaces of practical interest.Comment: 21 page
Grassmann-Gaussian integrals and generalized star products
In quantum scattering on networks there is a non-linear composition rule for
on-shell scattering matrices which serves as a replacement for the
multiplicative rule of transfer matrices valid in other physical contexts. In
this article, we show how this composition rule is obtained using Berezin
integration theory with Grassmann variables.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures. In memory of Al.B. Zamolodichiko
