Preferential Multi-Context Systems
Multi-context systems (MCS) presented by Brewka and Eiter can be considered
as a promising way to interlink decentralized and heterogeneous knowledge
contexts. In this paper, we propose preferential multi-context systems (PMCS),
which provide a framework for incorporating a total preorder relation over
contexts in a multi-context system. In a given PMCS, its contexts are divided
into several parts according to the total preorder relation over them,
moreover, only information flows from a context to ones of the same part or
less preferred parts are allowed to occur. As such, the first preferred
parts of an PMCS always fully capture the information exchange between contexts
of these parts, and then compose another meaningful PMCS, termed the
-section of that PMCS. We generalize the equilibrium semantics for an MCS to
the (maximal) -equilibrium which represents belief states at least
acceptable for the -section of an PMCS. We also investigate inconsistency
analysis in PMCS and related computational complexity issues
Intelligent search strategies based on adaptive Constraint Handling Rules
The most advanced implementation of adaptive constraint processing with
Constraint Handling Rules (CHR) allows the application of intelligent search
strategies to solve Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSP). This presentation
compares an improved version of conflict-directed backjumping and two variants
of dynamic backtracking with respect to chronological backtracking on some of
the AIM instances which are a benchmark set of random 3-SAT problems. A CHR
implementation of a Boolean constraint solver combined with these different
search strategies in Java is thus being compared with a CHR implementation of
the same Boolean constraint solver combined with chronological backtracking in
SICStus Prolog. This comparison shows that the addition of ``intelligence'' to
the search process may reduce the number of search steps dramatically.
Furthermore, the runtime of their Java implementations is in most cases faster
than the implementations of chronological backtracking. More specifically,
conflict-directed backjumping is even faster than the SICStus Prolog
implementation of chronological backtracking, although our Java implementation
of CHR lacks the optimisations made in the SICStus Prolog system. To appear in

Reason Maintenance - State of the Art
This paper describes state of the art in reason maintenance with a focus on its future usage in the KiWi project. To give a bigger picture of the field, it also mentions closely related issues such as non-monotonic logic and paraconsistency. The paper is organized as follows: first, two motivating scenarios referring to semantic wikis are presented which are then used to introduce the different reason maintenance techniques

A comparative survey of integrated learning systems
This paper presents the duction framework for unifying the three basic forms of inference - deduction, abduction, and induction - by specifying the possible relationships and influences among them in the context of integrated learning. Special assumptive forms of inference are defined that extend the use of these inference methods, and the properties of these forms are explored. A comparison to a related inference-based learning frame work is made. Finally several existing integrated learning programs are examined in the perspective of the duction framework
The Relationship of CSR and Financial Performance: New Evidence From Indonesian Companies
The research objectives of the study are to investigate whether there are any positive
relationships between CFP and CSR under the slack resource theory and to investigate
whether there are any positive relationships between CSR and CFP under good
management theory by integrating concept of strategic management into the definition
of CSR as sustainable corporate performance including economy, social, and
environment. To answer the research questions of this study, questionnaire-based
survey research design was used. The questionnaires that include items representing
variables in this study (corporate social performance, corporate financial performance,
business environment, strategy, organization structure, and control system) were sent to
the respondents who are managers of state-owned companies (BUMN) and private-
owned companies using post and e-mail services. There is a positive relationship
between CFP and CSP under the slack resource theory and under good management
theory.
