Term-based composition of security protocols
In the context of security protocol parallel composition, where messages
belonging to different protocols can intersect each other, we introduce a new
paradigm: term-based composition (i.e. the composition of message components
also known as terms). First, we create a protocol specification model by
extending the original strand spaces. Then, we provide a term composition
algorithm based on which new terms can be constructed. To ensure that security
properties are maintained, we introduce the concept of term connections to
express the existing connections between terms and encryption contexts. We
illustrate the proposed composition process by using two existing protocols.Comment: 2008 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and

Modular Composition of Language Features through Extensions of Semantic Language Models
Today, programming or specification languages are often extended in order to customize them for a particular application domain or to refine the language definition. The extension of a semantic model is often at the centre of such an extension. We will present a framework for linking basic and extended models. The example which we are going to
use is the RSL concurrency model. The RAISE specification language RSL is a formal wide-spectrum specification
language which integrates different features, such as state-basedness, concurrency and modules. The concurrency
features of RSL are based on a refinement of a classical denotational model for process algebras. A modification was
necessary to integrate state-based features into the basic model in order to meet requirements in the design of RSL.
We will investigate this integration, formalising the relationship between the basic model and the adapted version in a rigorous way. The result will be a modular composition of the basic process model and new language features, such as state-based features or input/output. We will show general mechanisms for integration of new features into a language by extending language models in a structured, modular way. In particular, we will concentrate on the preservation of properties of the basic model in these extensions
Mediated data integration and transformation for web service-based software architectures
Service-oriented architecture using XML-based web services has been widely accepted by many organisations as the standard infrastructure to integrate heterogeneous and autonomous data sources. As a result, many Web service providers are built up on top of the data sources to share the data by supporting provided and required interfaces and methods of data access in a unified manner. In the context of data integration, problems arise when Web services are assembled to deliver an integrated view of data, adaptable to the specific needs of individual clients and providers. Traditional approaches of data integration and transformation are not suitable to automate the construction of connectors dedicated to connect selected Web services to render integrated and tailored views of data. We propose a declarative approach that addresses the oftenneglected data integration and adaptivity aspects of serviceoriented
architecture
A Semantic Grid Oriented to E-Tourism
With increasing complexity of tourism business models and tasks, there is a
clear need of the next generation e-Tourism infrastructure to support flexible
automation, integration, computation, storage, and collaboration. Currently
several enabling technologies such as semantic Web, Web service, agent and grid
computing have been applied in the different e-Tourism applications, however
there is no a unified framework to be able to integrate all of them. So this
paper presents a promising e-Tourism framework based on emerging semantic grid,
in which a number of key design issues are discussed including architecture,
ontologies structure, semantic reconciliation, service and resource discovery,
role based authorization and intelligent agent. The paper finally provides the
implementation of the framework.Comment: 12 PAGES, 7 Figure
Data integration through service-based mediation for web-enabled information systems
The Web and its underlying platform technologies have often been used to integrate existing software and information systems. Traditional techniques for data representation and transformations between documents are not sufficient to support a flexible and maintainable data integration solution that meets the requirements of modern complex Web-enabled software and information systems. The difficulty
arises from the high degree of complexity of data structures, for example in business and technology applications, and from the constant change of data and its
representation. In the Web context, where the Web platform is used to integrate different organisations or software systems, additionally the problem of heterogeneity
arises. We introduce a specific data integration solution for Web applications such as Web-enabled information systems. Our contribution is an integration technology
framework for Web-enabled information systems comprising, firstly, a data integration technique based on the declarative specification of transformation rules and the construction of connectors that handle the integration and, secondly, a mediator architecture based on information services and the constructed connectors to handle the integration process
