    Prosumers’ intention to co-create business value and the moderating role of digital media usage

    The study identifies the factors impacting prosumers’ intention for co-production and future participation. It also investigates the moderating role of digital media usage in the relationship between behavioral intention of prosumers for value co-creation and business benefit of the organization. Based on a literature review of co-creation and related theories and a survey, we developed and tested a conceptual model using the PLS-SEM technique. The study also analyzes the moderating impact of digital media by using multi group analysis. This study has also analyzed the impacts of three control variables (i.e., age, gender, and education) on the behavioral intention of the prosumers for value cocreation by means of mediation analysis. We find that the intention of prosumer for co-production as well as intention of prosumers for future participation influences behavioral intention of prosumers for value cocreation which in turn positively impacts business benefits of the organization. The study also finds that usage of digital media has significant moderating impact on the relationship between behavior intention of prosumers for value co-creation and business benefit of the organization

    Die Coronapandemie und der durch sie erzwungene zeitweise Übergang von PrĂ€senz- zu Distanzlehre haben die Digitalisierung des Bildungswesens enorm vorangetrieben. Noch deutlicher als vorher traten dabei positive wie negative Aspekte dieser Entwicklung zum Vorschein. WĂ€hrend den Hochschulen der Wechsel mit vergleichsweise geringen Reibungsverlusten gelang, offenbarten sich diese an Schulen weitaus deutlicher. Trotz aller Widrigkeiten erscheint eines klar: Die zeitweisen VerĂ€nderungen werden Nachwirkungen zeigen. Eine völlige RĂŒckkehr zum Status quo ante ist kaum noch vorstellbar. Zwei Fragen bestimmen vor diesem Hintergrund die Doppelgesichtigkeit des Themas der 29. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft fĂŒr Medien in der Wissenschaft (GMW). Erstens: Wie ‚funktioniert‘ Bildung in der sich derzeit ereignenden digitalen Transformation und welche Herausforderungen gibt es?     AI & Blockchain as sustainable teaching and learning tools to cope with the 4IR

    The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is transforming the way we live and work, and education is no exception. To cope with the challenges of 4IR, there is a need for innovative and sustainable teaching and learning tools. AI and block chain technologies hold great promise in this regard, with potential benefits such as personalized learning, secure credentialing, and decentralized learning networks. This paper presents a review of existing research on AI and block chain in education, analyzing case studies and exploring the potential benefits and challenges of these technologies. The paper also suggests a unique model for integrating AI and block chain into sustainable teaching and learning practices. Future research directions are discussed, including the need for more empirical studies and the exploration of ethical and social implications. The key summary of this discussion is that, by enhancing accessibility, efficacy, and security in education, AI and blockchain have the potential to revolutionise the field. In order to ensure that students can benefit from these potentially game-changing technologies as technology develops, it will be crucial to find ways to harness its power while minimising hazards. Overall, this paper highlights the potential of AI and block chain as sustainable tools for teaching and learning in the 4IR era and their respective advantages, issues and future prospects have been discussed in this writing

    The Metaverse: Survey, Trends, Novel Pipeline Ecosystem & Future Directions

    The Metaverse offers a second world beyond reality, where boundaries are non-existent, and possibilities are endless through engagement and immersive experiences using the virtual reality (VR) technology. Many disciplines can benefit from the advancement of the Metaverse when accurately developed, including the fields of technology, gaming, education, art, and culture. Nevertheless, developing the Metaverse environment to its full potential is an ambiguous task that needs proper guidance and directions. Existing surveys on the Metaverse focus only on a specific aspect and discipline of the Metaverse and lack a holistic view of the entire process. To this end, a more holistic, multi-disciplinary, in-depth, and academic and industry-oriented review is required to provide a thorough study of the Metaverse development pipeline. To address these issues, we present in this survey a novel multi-layered pipeline ecosystem composed of (1) the Metaverse computing, networking, communications and hardware infrastructure, (2) environment digitization, and (3) user interactions. For every layer, we discuss the components that detail the steps of its development. Also, for each of these components, we examine the impact of a set of enabling technologies and empowering domains (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, Security & Privacy, Blockchain, Business, Ethics, and Social) on its advancement. In addition, we explain the importance of these technologies to support decentralization, interoperability, user experiences, interactions, and monetization. Our presented study highlights the existing challenges for each component, followed by research directions and potential solutions. To the best of our knowledge, this survey is the most comprehensive and allows users, scholars, and entrepreneurs to get an in-depth understanding of the Metaverse ecosystem to find their opportunities and potentials for contribution

    One Small Step for Generative AI, One Giant Leap for AGI: A Complete Survey on ChatGPT in AIGC Era

    OpenAI has recently released GPT-4 (a.k.a. ChatGPT plus), which is demonstrated to be one small step for generative AI (GAI), but one giant leap for artificial general intelligence (AGI). Since its official release in November 2022, ChatGPT has quickly attracted numerous users with extensive media coverage. Such unprecedented attention has also motivated numerous researchers to investigate ChatGPT from various aspects. According to Google scholar, there are more than 500 articles with ChatGPT in their titles or mentioning it in their abstracts. Considering this, a review is urgently needed, and our work fills this gap. Overall, this work is the first to survey ChatGPT with a comprehensive review of its underlying technology, applications, and challenges. Moreover, we present an outlook on how ChatGPT might evolve to realize general-purpose AIGC (a.k.a.     The Neuroscience of Moral Judgment: Empirical and Philosophical Developments

    We chart how neuroscience and philosophy have together advanced our understanding of moral judgment with implications for when it goes well or poorly. The field initially focused on brain areas associated with reason versus emotion in the moral evaluations of sacrificial dilemmas. But new threads of research have studied a wider range of moral evaluations and how they relate to models of brain development and learning. By weaving these threads together, we are developing a better understanding of the neurobiology of moral judgment in adulthood and to some extent in childhood and adolescence. Combined with rigorous evidence from psychology and careful philosophical analysis, neuroscientific evidence can even help shed light on the extent of moral knowledge and on ways to promote healthy moral development

    Rats, plagues, and children, Oh My! Multimodal representations of the past in historical games

    Since their inception, Game Studies and its sub-discipline Historical Game Studies have stressed the pedagogical potential of (historical) games for learning. Today, popular off-the-shelf historical digital games such as Assassin’s Creed: Origins (2017), Total War: Three Kingdoms (2019), and Red Dead Redemption (2010) have achieved period-faithful and authentic interactive representations of elements of history that possess pedagogical value distinct from written accounts. To substantiate this claim, the authors forward a multimodal account of the varied ways in which historical knowledge is present in both game design and the gameplay experience. Their approach is illustrated with an under-investigated (yet valuable) mode of historical exploration – ‘Imaginative History.’ Using video and/or screen captures from several sequences of recorded game footage taken from A Plague Tale: Innocence, the authors present a case example from the game’s fantastical portrayal of the Black Death plague. The game’s value for teaching and learning is examined in relation to its re-mediation and subversion of past pre-modern folklore imaginations and beliefs concerning the Black Death.     A systematic literature review on information systems for disaster management and proposals for its future research agenda

    Emergency management information systems (EMIS) are fundamental for responding to disasters effectively since they provide and process emergency-related information. A literature stream has emerged that corresponds with the increased relevance of the wide array of different information systems that have been used in response to disasters. In addition, the discussion around systems used primarily within responder organizations broadened to systems such as social media that are open to the general public. However, a systematic review of the EMIS literature stream is still missing. This literature review presents a timeline of EMIS research from 1990 up to 2021. It shows the types of information system scholars focused on, and what disaster response functions they supported. It furthermore identifies challenges in EMIS research and proposes future research directions
