How to improve collection on organic agriculture in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe

Annually, the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL collects data on key indicators of organic agriculture in European Union such as area, production and trade data among national data sources (for trade data) and Eurostat (for area, production and operator data; Eurostat 2018). Data are compiled in a MySQL database, and quality checks are carried out following the ORMACODE of the EUfunded OrganicDataNetwork (OrganicDataNetwork et al 2014), much of which is based on Eurostat’s Statistics Code of Practice (Eurostat 2011). Checks include the comparison against the previous year, the neighbouring countries, and the overall total. In case of inconsistencies, data providers are asked for clarification. FiBL publishes the data annually in collaboration with IFOAM – Organics International in a statistical yearbook (Willer & Lernoud 2018)

Improving estimates of migration flows to Eurostat

In this paper we identify the current mandatory requirements and issues concerning the supply of detailed migration data to Eurostat. Using simple illustrations on immigration to the United Kingdom, we show how substantial and significant improvements can be made to the flows reported by the International Passenger Survey, which contain irregularities and missing data due to its relatively small sample size. Our general methodology is based on the idea of smoothing, repairing and combining data within multiplicative component framework

Classification List for Land Use and Livestock Data

This classification list for land use and livestock data was processed by the EISfOM project in order to provide a structured classification systematic to obtain comparable data and enable the exchange of data between national and Eurostat databases. A correspondence table - similiar to this - for every nation database should be defined, to link national codecs to those of Eurostat. The Cropitem/Livestock classification is used for land use/livestock data according to EU regulation 2092/91. The FFS codecs is used for Farm Structure Survey (conventional data) in the different countries

Market Analysis of Textile Products Protecting Against UV Radiation (Used for Equipping Interiors, Construction and in Protective Clothing)

The aim of this article is to present the results of our analysis of the European market in the field of protective textile products, based on the EUROSTAT database and our own research. The market volumes of curtains and inner roller blinds, marquees and anti-solar curtains, male clothing accessories and female clothing accessories are presented and analyzed. Initial research of supply and demand in the Polish market of textile products protecting against UV radiation is also presented and discussed.Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników analizy rynku europejskiego w obszarze tekstyliów ochronnych opartej na bazie danych EUROSTAT.
