Esilio e ritorno: Mona e Viaje a La Habana di Reinaldo Arenas. Interpretazione e traduzione.
In Cankar’s prose the characters drink aplenty, but they do not ingest any food. According to Kermenauer this happens because Cankar gives shape to ideas, not to people. Differently from Cankar, Marko Marulic fills his poem "Judita" with descriptions of the food consumed both by the heroine herself and by Holofernes’s court. The references to the food are a way of helping the fellow Dalmatians to relate to the biblical tale and to understand it not only as a story referring to the struggle between Syrians and Hebrews, but also as a tale about themselves and their struggles against the Turks.
The essay goes on exploring texts in which the cultural differences between religions or nations are shown in food culture as well. "Gorski Vjenac" by Petar Petrović Njegoš is taken into consideration. However, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian literature rely now on texts by authors who are in exile. These writers have a double identity and belong to their original as well as the new literature of the European or American nation they live in. In exile, food always tastes differently. The recipe of a dish becomes then of primary importance in order to remember the original taste of the past. Some works by Aleksandar Hemon, Stevan Sremac, Ivo Andrić, Danilo Kiš and Dubravka Ugrešić are discussed

Megalencephalic leucoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts is a genetic brain disorder with onset in early childhood. Affected infants develop macrocephaly within the first year of life, after several years followed by slowly progressive, incapacitating cerebellar ataxia and spasticity. From early on, magnetic resonance imaging shows diffuse signal abnormality and swelling of the cerebral white matter, with evidence of highly increased white matter water content. In most patients, the disease is caused by mutations in the gene MLC1, which encodes a plasma membrane protein almost exclusively expressed in brain and at lower levels in leucocytes. Within the brain, MLC1 is mainly located in astrocyte-astrocyte junctions adjacent to the blood-brain and cereborspinal fluid-brain barriers. Thus far, the function of MLC1 has remained unknown. We tested the hypothesis that MLC1 mutations cause a defect in ion currents involved in water and ion homeostasis, resulting in cerebral white matter oedema. Using whole-cell patch clamp studies we demonstrated an association between MLC1 expression and anion channel activity in different cell types, most importantly astrocytes. The currents were absent in chloride-free medium and in cells with disease-causing MLC1 mutations. MLC1-dependent currents were greatly enhanced by hypotonic pretreatment causing cell swelling, while ion channel blockers, including Tamoxifen, abolished the currents. Down regulation of endogenous MLC1 expression in astrocytes by small interfering RNA greatly reduced the activity of this channel, which was rescued by overexpression of normal MLC1. The current-voltage relationship and the pharmacological profiles of the currents indicated that the channel activated by MLC1 expression is a volume-regulated anion channel. Such channels are involved in regulatory volume decrease. We showed that regulatory volume decrease was hampered in lymphoblasts from patients with megalencephalic leucoencephalopathy. A similar trend was observed in astrocytes with decreased MLC1 expression; this effect was rescued by overexpression of normal MLC1. In the present study, we show that absence or mutations of the MLC1 protein negatively impact both volume-regulated anion channel activity and regulatory volume decrease, indicating that megalencephalic leucoencephalopathy is caused by a disturbance of cell volume regulation mediated by chloride transport. © 2011 The Author
Tempi e sogni della persona. L'esilio romano di María Zambrano
This essay aims to offer an analysis of the 'Roman' exile of philosopher María Zambrano, a Republican exile and prominent figure of contemporary thinking. Rome was, for Zambrano, the city she chose to 'live the exile': the city of writing and thinking 'about time, dreams, person and the exile experience, etc.', but it was also the beginning place of deep relationships of friendship and collaborations with Italian intellectuals and other Spanish exiles of that period
La distruzione dell’amore. Esilio e letteratura
The aim of this paper is to investigate the connection between the political concepts of power and violence, and the concept of love in the literary and philosophical reflections, which Günther Anders carried on in Lieben, Gestern (1986). In particular, the paper intends to focus on the motif of the destruction of the love feeling in the society of the exiles, as the absence of love novel in 20. Century attests. The theses of Anders appear nowadays extremely topical, moreover if they are read in the scenario opened by the new studies about sentiments

tradendo memini plenissime disputatum. Codices
oblivione, apud quem remanserit ignoramus. Sanctos presbyteros, diacones, beatamque
congregationem supplex saluto. Deus noster paternitatem tuam ad aedificationem
nostram conservare dignetur incolumem, domine pater.
