On the threshold for k-regular subgraphs of random graphs

The $k$-core of a graph is the largest subgraph of minimum degree at least $k$. We show that for $k$ sufficiently large, the $(k + 2)$-core of a random graph \G(n,p) asymptotically almost surely has a spanning $k$-regular subgraph. Thus the threshold for the appearance of a $k$-regular subgraph of a random graph is at most the threshold for the $(k+2)$-core. In particular, this pins down the point of appearance of a $k$-regular subgraph in \G(n,p) to a window for $p$ of width roughly $2/n$ for large $n$ and moderately large $k$

On Bootstrap Percolation in Living Neural Networks

Recent experimental studies of living neural networks reveal that their global activation induced by electrical stimulation can be explained using the concept of bootstrap percolation on a directed random network. The experiment consists in activating externally an initial random fraction of the neurons and observe the process of firing until its equilibrium. The final portion of neurons that are active depends in a non linear way on the initial fraction. The main result of this paper is a theorem which enables us to find the asymptotic of final proportion of the fired neurons in the case of random directed graphs with given node degrees as the model for interacting network. This gives a rigorous mathematical proof of a phenomena observed by physicists in neural networks

Revendications poitevines pour l'obtention d'une chambre de parlement (1454)

Présentation et édition du mémoire présenté au roi en 1454 par le corps de ville de Poitiers, au nom de la ville, mais aussi des Etats de Poitou, des villes de Niort, La Rochelle, de l'Université de Poitiers, ... afin d'obtenir la création d'une cours de Parlement à Poitiers, et dans le but de contrer les arguments des parlementaires parisiens qui s'y opposent. 66 articles qui témoignent des considérations juridiques et politiques à la fin de la guerre de Cent Ans, alors que se recompose la carte judiciaire. Ils montrent aussi, sans une certaine partialité, bien sûr, l'état de la justice dans le royaume de France ainsi que les conceptions qui conditionnent les différentes réformes en cours. Ce texte ne sera pas sans influencer les grandes ordonnances qui vont suivre. Il témoigne aussi comment depuis la périphérie du royaume, depuis les corps de ville, se bâtit le dialogue politique qui oeuvre à la redéfinition de l'Etat et à l'émergence d'un Etat de la première modernité
