Web-Based Network Device Monitoring Tool Using Simple Network Management Protocol (Snmp)
The Internet enables different computer networks to join together into one network in
which many different models of network devices can co-exist with each other. Standard
management protocol is necessary for the purpose of managing these networks. SNMP
(Simple Network Management Protocol), one of the standard protocols, is designed for
this open-class management function and is successfully implemented.
This thesis suggests a monitoring of network device statistical data from a remote place.
This approach reduced the complexity of existing techniques, which are basically
operable in specific operating system and having no standard Graphical User Interface
(GUI). To address this problem, a system based on WWW standard tool is developed
which is SNMP compatible as well as operable with any network device.
The network device monitoring tool is a client program, which is managed and could be
contacted with the server program. A web server and a browser are to provide static,
dynamic, and interactive management information. A web server, which plays a managing role, offers a variety of types of information. An SNMP agent, which cooperates
with a web server, uses SNMP protocol and provides access to management
information of network devices/agents. The implementation of the user interface using
the web-based technique of Java Applet makes it possible for a manager to easily search
and manage agent Management Information Base (Mill) through a browser. Java SNMP
class files and SNMP Applet Server (SAS) classes are used inside the Web-server to
communicate with network devices. The network device monitoring tool is configured
to collect network statistical data. It can monitor the real time graph on the basis of MIB
variable from remote place and shows more efficient than the existing tool
Rancang Bangun Aplikasi Monitoring Network Berbasis Web Menggunakan Html5 pada Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Blitar
Nowadays, The information system has become a very important part of all institutions and the modern cummunity. With the availability of appropriate information systems, many benefits can be obtained, as a result it will increase labor productivity. To keep the information network remains stable and available, we need a good management system and is able to overcome the problems that occur. In this research, design and implementation of the SNMP protocol for network management are implemented directly in Computer Network Administrator of Education Department Blitar..In operation, the SNMP protocol is supported by the PuTTY application developed by Mikrotik. From the test results and analysis, it shows that the system of monitoring and network management system that has been designed run well. Designed system can display a variety of information needed to manage the network as a network topology map view and a variety of other features. And by adding the email notification feature, the handling of the problems that occur can be more efficient using conventional methods
A Monitoring System for the BaBar INFN Computing Cluster
Monitoring large clusters is a challenging problem. It is necessary to
observe a large quantity of devices with a reasonably short delay between
consecutive observations. The set of monitored devices may include PCs, network
switches, tape libraries and other equipments. The monitoring activity should
not impact the performances of the system. In this paper we present PerfMC, a
monitoring system for large clusters. PerfMC is driven by an XML configuration
file, and uses the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for data
collection. SNMP is a standard protocol implemented by many networked
equipments, so the tool can be used to monitor a wide range of devices. System
administrators can display informations on the status of each device by
connecting to a WEB server embedded in PerfMC. The WEB server can produce
graphs showing the value of different monitored quantities as a function of
time; it can also produce arbitrary XML pages by applying XSL Transformations
to an internal XML representation of the cluster's status. XSL Transformations
may be used to produce HTML pages which can be displayed by ordinary WEB
browsers. PerfMC aims at being relatively easy to configure and operate, and
highly efficient. It is currently being used to monitor the Italian
Reprocessing farm for the BaBar experiment, which is made of about 200 dual-CPU
Linux machines.Comment: Talk from the 2003 Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics

A Lightweight and Flexible Mobile Agent Platform Tailored to Management Applications
Mobile Agents (MAs) represent a distributed computing technology that
promises to address the scalability problems of centralized network management.
A critical issue that will affect the wider adoption of MA paradigm in
management applications is the development of MA Platforms (MAPs) expressly
oriented to distributed management. However, most of available platforms impose
considerable burden on network and system resources and also lack of essential
functionality. In this paper, we discuss the design considerations and
implementation details of a complete MAP research prototype that sufficiently
addresses all the aforementioned issues. Our MAP has been implemented in Java
and tailored for network and systems management applications.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures; Proceedings of the 2006 Conference on Mobile

Power Systems Monitoring and Control using Telecom Network Management Standards
Historically, different solutions have been developed for power systems control and telecommunications network management environments. The former was characterized by proprietary solutions, while the latter has been involved for years in a strong standardization process guided by criteria of openness. Today, power systems control standardization is in progress, but it is at an early stage compared to the telecommunications management area, especially in terms of information modeling. Today, control equipment tends to exhibit more computational power, and communication lines have increased their performance. These trends hint at some conceptual convergence between power systems and telecommunications networks from a management perspective. This convergence leads us to suggest the application of well-established telecommunications management standards for power systems control. This paper shows that this is a real medium-to-long term possibility
On the standardisation of Web service management operations
Given the current interest in TCP/IP network management research towards Web services, it is important to recognise how standardisation can be achieved. This paper mainly focuses on the standardisation of operations and not management information. We state that standardisation should be done by standardising the abstract parts of a WSDL document, i.e. the interfaces and the messages. Operations can vary in granularity and parameter transparency, creating four extreme operation signatures, all of which have advantages and disadvantages
