Prediction of Airborne Contamination in Conventionally-Ventilated Cleanrooms

    Get PDF
An important facet of designing cleanrooms is the prediction of the volume of air necessary to achieve the required airborne cleanliness in the room. Current experience shows that these predicted volumes are often too high and the air conditioning plant is consequently oversized. The design has traditionally been a matter of experience tempered with a little knowledge of fluid dynamics

The tremendous economic and social transformation that occurred in Portugal during the nineteenth century was slow and complex. A Liberal Regime replaced the manorial system of the Old Regime and the bourgeoisie became the dominant social group. Industry and commerce prospered and a new market for cultural goods, including music, developed. Handwritten manuscripts and printed sheet music were the only means of disseminating music until the late nineteenth century. Music publishers therefore played a fundamental role during this century. It is the purpose of this study to contribute to a better understanding of music publishing in Portugal in the period between 1834 and 1900. The published music of this period has been analysed statistically according to genre, musical instruments and composers and the history of the most significant music publishing houses in Lisbon and Porto has been studied, including an investigation of the catalogues of each and a classification of its editors. Finally the technique of printing music has been analysed with a focus on the new scientific and technological processes that were developed in the second half of the eighteenth century; the illustrations on the title pages of scores were studied to identify the predominant motifs, the use of colour and the principle themes used. A catalogue, the result of a survey of bibliographic descriptions, is included that describes the types of music located in libraries as well as music that is no longer in print but mentioned in documents. To this catalog was studied the bibliographic description standards and a format is proposed for these documents
