This thesis studies the design and prototype implementation of a new web-based course authoring system for the Technology Integrated Learning Environment (TILE) project. The TILE authoring system edits the course structure and allows the author to annotate the course structure with meta-data. It makes extensive use of XML technology to communicate structured data across the Internet, as well as for both local and web-side databases. The Authoring tool is designed to support development by multiple authors and has check-in and check - out, as well as version control facilities. It also provides an interface for adopting other multimedia tools such as AudioGraph. The tool has an easy-to-use graphical user interface. The technical problems that have been solved in this project include issues such as cross-platform support, drag and drop functionality using JDK l.l.8, etc. System environments, such as relational database set up, XML database set up, Java swing set up in Mac also have been discussed. The authoring system interface analysis, database analysis and function analysis have been completed for the complete the system as specified. An intermediate system, designed to a reduced specification, has been implemented as a prototype and details of this system, which can work independently of the TILE delivery system, are included. The Full TILE authoring system including InstantDB database access also has been partially implemented. The prototype application has also has been tested on the PC platform

Website application has been used widely for business purposes. People will always tend to find the simplest way of manipulating the technology. Internet has been widely used as one of the main way to perform businesses. Through the development of websites, companies or businesses can advertise their products, do business transactions and provide services without face to face interactions with the customers. This is popularly known as e-commerce. E-commerce will ease customers to get the service provided without having problem that will benefits by reducing expenses of inventory, employees, purchasing cost and order processing cost and at the same time, they can have access to a wider range of customers. The idea of semantic in a website, which is incorporated in the design aid tool, will ensure a better website service. This project is to develop a website prototype that provides tailoring service with the semantic drag and drop function as the tool for designing custom clothes. Currently, people need to go to a tailor shop to get new clothes to be sewn. Existing websites only provide online buying for their ready made clothes. But with the service provided by the website, customers just need to click and make their order through the Internet and they can also design and order their own clothes the way they want

An Internship in a European Company for developing a Web application-Domatica Global Solutions, Lisbon was undertaken to complete the Master’s Degree of Computer Engineering-Mobile Computing in the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. The team Domatica deals with providing IoT solutions used for monitoring, controlling and collecting the data from the IoT gateways. The present work aims to develop a Web application for client’s side. The Web application named Quantum Node Portal is developed for the Devices and Information management. It provides access to the clients to their IoT gateways. Clients can monitor their devices, get various information, also can access the Portal for claiming their IoT gateways. The present work was developed using various technologies such as PHP framework named Laravel and several languages

    Tagamajig: Image Recognition via Crowdsourcing

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) Library possesses thousands of unlabeled gray-scale photographs from the Smoky Mountains circa the 1920s - 1940s. Their current method of identifying and labeling attributes of the photographs is to do so manually. This is problematic both because of the scale of the collection as well as the reliance on an individual\u27s limited knowledge of the area\u27s numerous landmarks. In the past few years, similar dilemmas have been tackled via an approach known as crowd computing. Some examples include Floating Forests, in which users are asked to identify and mark kelp forests in satellite images, and Ancient Lives, which enlists users help in transcribing 2000-year-old manuscripts that Oxford University researchers had struggled to efficiently translate for over a century. For this particular problem, we propose releasing the image collections to the public through a web application. The application would target outdoor enthusiasts, conservationists, or professionals such as geologists, rangers, or historians who are familiar with the region and would find interest in helping to label the more recognizable photos. Users would tag landmarks using a hierarchically sorted data set of landmark names accessible via an incremental search. With sufficient participation, the image collection could be efficiently categorized and labeled beyond what is currently feasible using the librarys limited number of personnel. Furthermore, this application could easily be adapted to categorize other unlabeled image collections if provided with the proper data set for tagging

CS Circles: An In-Browser Python Course for Beginners

Computer Science Circles is a free programming website for beginners that is designed to be fun, easy to use, and accessible to the broadest possible audience. We teach Python since it is simple yet powerful, and the course content is well-structured but written in plain language. The website has over one hundred exercises in thirty lesson pages, plus special features to help teachers support their students. It is available in both English and French. We discuss the philosophy behind the course and its design, we describe how it was implemented, and we give statistics on its use.Comment: To appear in SIGCSE 201

Current business process management systems (BPMS) are laid out for large enterprises with business process management (BPM) expertise. Hence, there is a lack of tailored BPMS for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) targeting at users with hardly BPM expertise. Clavii BPM cloud is a compact solution for web-based business process administration, modeling, and execution. Therefore, Clavii BPM cloud offers features to easily manage and share process models, as well as features for collaborative process modeling and execution. Moreover, Clavii BPM cloud has a unique feature set, which includes process views to reduce process model complexity and an easily extendable object-oriented data model. It also provides unique capabilities for process visualization with different notations like business process model and notation (BPMN) and a newly developed Transit Map. Created process models can be executed directly in the cloud as part of the seamlessly integrated modeling and execution environment
