МОДЕЛЮВАННЯ ОПТИМАЛЬНОГО РОЗВИТКУ ВИРОБНИЧИХ СИСТЕМ
The article summarizes the arguments and counterarguments on the identification of the spatial state of the production system to assess the effectiveness of its functioning and optimization of target functions in solving development management problems. The main goal of the study is to develop an approach to modeling the development management system of a manufacturing enterprise. The problem of managing the development of production systems has shown that each level of analysis of the state of the enterprise and assessment of the dynamics of its development and the problem situation corresponds to an aggregated set of estimates that take into account both individual indicators and their different groups. The relevance of solving this scientific problem lies in the fact that the process of managing the development of an enterprise is becoming more and more weakly structured and random, and therefore there is a need to manage this process.Studies of the issue of managing the development of enterprises with a deliberate change in the parameters, structure and properties of the system and perturbation of the external and internal environment require the use of new management models, with each new model should be better replaceable. The proposed approach to modeling the development management system of a manufacturing enterprise and its practical implementation makes it possible to determine the dominant development parameters of manufacturing enterprises and to track in a timely manner the impulses and state space of the production system as parameters for its development. Analysis of the state of the production system and assessment of the dynamics of its development show the need for the formation of a system of generalized vector-scalar, situationally oriented indicators. The presented indicators of production system in the form of a state vector of the incoming and outgoing vectors can be basic for identifying the state of the enterprise, and can also be used to assess the effectiveness of its functioning and for optimizing target functions in solving problems of managing the development of the enterprise.
Cloud-Based Centralized/Decentralized Multi-Agent Optimization with Communication Delays
We present and analyze a computational hybrid architecture for performing
multi-agent optimization. The optimization problems under consideration have
convex objective and constraint functions with mild smoothness conditions
imposed on them. For such problems, we provide a primal-dual algorithm
implemented in the hybrid architecture, which consists of a decentralized
network of agents into which centralized information is occasionally injected,
and we establish its convergence properties. To accomplish this, a central
cloud computer aggregates global information, carries out computations of the
dual variables based on this information, and then distributes the updated dual
variables to the agents. The agents update their (primal) state variables and
also communicate among themselves with each agent sharing and receiving state
information with some number of its neighbors. Throughout, communications with
the cloud are not assumed to be synchronous or instantaneous, and communication
delays are explicitly accounted for in the modeling and analysis of the system.
Experimental results are presented to support the theoretical developments
made.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure
On the Connectivity of Unions of Random Graphs
Graph-theoretic tools and techniques have seen wide use in the multi-agent
systems literature, and the unpredictable nature of some multi-agent
communications has been successfully modeled using random communication graphs.
Across both network control and network optimization, a common assumption is
that the union of agents' communication graphs is connected across any finite
interval of some prescribed length, and some convergence results explicitly
depend upon this length. Despite the prevalence of this assumption and the
prevalence of random graphs in studying multi-agent systems, to the best of our
knowledge, there has not been a study dedicated to determining how many random
graphs must be in a union before it is connected. To address this point, this
paper solves two related problems. The first bounds the number of random graphs
required in a union before its expected algebraic connectivity exceeds the
minimum needed for connectedness. The second bounds the probability that a
union of random graphs is connected. The random graph model used is the
Erd\H{o}s-R\'enyi model, and, in solving these problems, we also bound the
expectation and variance of the algebraic connectivity of unions of such
graphs. Numerical results for several use cases are given to supplement the
theoretical developments made.Comment: 16 pages, 3 tables; accepted to 2017 IEEE Conference on Decision and

Stochastic Subgradient Algorithms for Strongly Convex Optimization over Distributed Networks
We study diffusion and consensus based optimization of a sum of unknown
convex objective functions over distributed networks. The only access to these
functions is through stochastic gradient oracles, each of which is only
available at a different node, and a limited number of gradient oracle calls is
allowed at each node. In this framework, we introduce a convex optimization
algorithm based on the stochastic gradient descent (SGD) updates. Particularly,
we use a carefully designed time-dependent weighted averaging of the SGD
iterates, which yields a convergence rate of
after gradient updates for each node on
a network of nodes. We then show that after gradient oracle calls, the
average SGD iterate achieves a mean square deviation (MSD) of
. This rate of convergence is optimal as it
matches the performance lower bound up to constant terms. Similar to the SGD
algorithm, the computational complexity of the proposed algorithm also scales
linearly with the dimensionality of the data. Furthermore, the communication
load of the proposed method is the same as the communication load of the SGD
algorithm. Thus, the proposed algorithm is highly efficient in terms of
complexity and communication load. We illustrate the merits of the algorithm
with respect to the state-of-art methods over benchmark real life data sets and
widely studied network topologies
