Knowledge Discovery in the SCADA Databases Used for the Municipal Power Supply System
This scientific paper delves into the problems related to the develop-ment of
intellectual data analysis system that could support decision making to manage
municipal power supply services. The management problems of mu-nicipal power
supply system have been specified taking into consideration modern tendencies
shown by new technologies that allow for an increase in the energy efficiency.
The analysis findings of the system problems related to the integrated
computer-aided control of the power supply for the city have been given. The
consideration was given to the hierarchy-level management decom-position model.
The objective task targeted at an increase in the energy effi-ciency to
minimize expenditures and energy losses during the generation and
transportation of energy carriers to the Consumer, the optimization of power
consumption at the prescribed level of the reliability of pipelines and
networks and the satisfaction of Consumers has been defined. To optimize the
support of the decision making a new approach to the monitoring of engineering
systems and technological processes related to the energy consumption and
transporta-tion using the technologies of geospatial analysis and Knowledge
Discovery in databases (KDD) has been proposed. The data acquisition for
analytical prob-lems is realized in the wireless heterogeneous medium, which
includes soft-touch VPN segments of ZigBee technology realizing the 6LoWPAN
standard over the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and also the segments of the networks
of cellu-lar communications. JBoss Application Server is used as a server-based
plat-form for the operation of the tools used for the retrieval of data
collected from sensor nodes, PLC and energy consumption record devices. The KDD
tools are developed using Java Enterprise Edition platform and Spring and ORM

Efficient Privacy Preserving Distributed Clustering Based on Secret Sharing
In this paper, we propose a privacy preserving distributed
clustering protocol for horizontally partitioned data based on a very efficient
homomorphic additive secret sharing scheme. The model we use
for the protocol is novel in the sense that it utilizes two non-colluding
third parties. We provide a brief security analysis of our protocol from
information theoretic point of view, which is a stronger security model.
We show communication and computation complexity analysis of our
protocol along with another protocol previously proposed for the same
problem. We also include experimental results for computation and communication
overhead of these two protocols. Our protocol not only outperforms
the others in execution time and communication overhead on
data holders, but also uses a more efficient model for many data mining
applications
Exploratory study to explore the role of ICT in the process of knowledge management in an Indian business environment
In the 21st century and the emergence of a digital economy, knowledge and the knowledge base economy are rapidly growing. To effectively be able to understand the processes involved in the creating, managing and sharing of knowledge management in the business environment is critical to the success of an organization. This study builds on the previous research of the authors on the enablers of knowledge management by identifying the relationship between the enablers of knowledge management and the role played by information communication technologies (ICT) and ICT infrastructure in a business setting. This paper provides the findings of a survey collected from the four major Indian cities (Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Villupuram) regarding their views and opinions about the enablers of knowledge management in business setting. A total of 80 organizations participated in the study with 100 participants in each city. The results show that ICT and ICT infrastructure can play a critical role in the creating, managing and sharing of knowledge in an Indian business environment
Flexible data input layer architecture (FDILA) for quick-response decision making tools in volatile manufacturing systems
This paper proposes the foundation for a flexible data input management system as a vital part of a generic solution for quick-response decision making. Lack of a comprehensive data input layer between data acquisition and processing systems has been realized and thought of. The proposed FDILA is applicable to a wide variety of volatile manufacturing environments. It provides a generic platform that enables systems designers to define any number of data entry points and types regardless of their make and specifications in a standard fashion. This is achieved by providing a variable definition layer immediately on top of the data acquisition layer and before data pre-processing layer. For proof of concept, National Instruments’ Labview data acquisition software is used to simulate a typical shop floor data acquisition system. The extracted data can then be fed into a data mining module that builds cost modeling functions involving the plant’s Key Performance Factors
A brief network analysis of Artificial Intelligence publication
In this paper, we present an illustration to the history of Artificial
Intelligence(AI) with a statistical analysis of publish since 1940. We
collected and mined through the IEEE publish data base to analysis the
geological and chronological variance of the activeness of research in AI. The
connections between different institutes are showed. The result shows that the
leading community of AI research are mainly in the USA, China, the Europe and
Japan. The key institutes, authors and the research hotspots are revealed. It
is found that the research institutes in the fields like Data Mining, Computer
Vision, Pattern Recognition and some other fields of Machine Learning are quite
consistent, implying a strong interaction between the community of each field.
It is also showed that the research of Electronic Engineering and Industrial or
Commercial applications are very active in California. Japan is also publishing
a lot of papers in robotics. Due to the limitation of data source, the result
might be overly influenced by the number of published articles, which is to our
best improved by applying network keynode analysis on the research community
instead of merely count the number of publish.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figure
The enablers and implementation model for mobile KMS in Australian healthcare
In this research project, the enablers in implementing mobile KMS in Australian regional healthcare will be investigated, and a validated framework and guidelines to assist healthcare in implementing mobile KMS will also be proposed with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The outcomes for this study are expected to improve the understanding the enabling factors in implementing mobile KMS in Australian healthcare, as well as provide better guidelines for this process
An event service supporting autonomic management of ubiquitous systems for e-health
An event system suitable for very simple devices corresponding to a body area network for monitoring patients is presented. Event systems can be used both for self-management of the components as well as indicating alarms relating to patient health state. Traditional event systems emphasise scalability and complex event dissemination for internet based systems, whereas we are considering ubiquitous systems with wireless communication and mobile nodes which may join or leave the system over time intervals of minutes. Issues such as persistent delivery are also important. We describe the design, prototype implementation, and performance characteristics of an event system architecture targeted at this application domain
Adaptive Data Aggregation with Mobile Agents and Evolutionary Computing based Clustering in Sparse Wireless Sensor Networks
The Information processing based on Data mining in WSN is at its starting stage, when compared to traditional machine learning in WSN. In order to solve a particular problem in WSN the researchers now a day were mainly focused on applying machine learning techniques. The Different researchers will have different assumptions, application scenarios and preferences in applying machine learning algorithms. These differences will result to a major challenge in allowing researchers to build upon each other’s work so that research results will accumulate in the community. Thus, a common architecture across the WSN machine learning community would be necessary in order to overcome these differences. The improvement or optimizing of the performance of the entire network in terms of energy conservation and network lifetime will be one of the major objectives in wireless sensor network. This paper will survey the Data Mining in WSN applications from two perspectives, namely the network associated issue and application associated issue. In the network associated issue, different machine learning algorithms applied in WSNs were used in order to improve network performance will be discussed. In application associated issue, machine learning methods that have been used for information processing in WSNs will be summarized
