    A new software defined radio platform with multiport-based direct conversion is proposed, named SOPRANO (Software Programmable and Hardware Reconfigurable Architecture for Network). The main features of SOPRANO are a high-level design methodology for digital circuits, a new mixer-less direct conversion method, and software algorithms for multi-band and multi-mode operation. We built the first prototype SOPRANO 1.0, which was able to receive PSK and QAM signals with two different carrier frequencies at 2.45 GHz and 5.25 GHz by changing signal processing software

Recent research in this area suggests that primitive visual analysis techniques may be applied to decode selected radio signals successfully.     A Reconfigurable Tile-Based Architecture to Compute FFT and FIR Functions in the Context of Software-Defined Radio

    Software-defined radio (SDR) is the term used for flexible radio systems that can deal with multiple standards. For an efficient implementation, such systems require appropriate reconfigurable architectures. This paper targets the efficient implementation of the most computationally intensive kernels of two significantly different standards, viz. Bluetooth and HiperLAN/2, on the same reconfigurable hardware. These kernels are FIR filtering and FFT. The designed architecture is based on a two-dimensional arrangement of 17 tiles. Each tile contains a multiplier, an adder, local memory and multiplexers allowing flexible communication with the neighboring tiles. The tile-base data path is complemented with a global controller and various memories. The design has been implemented in SystemC and simulated extensively to prove equivalence with a reference all-software design. It has also been synthesized and turns out to outperform significantly other reconfigurable designs with respect to speed and area

    Information and communication technologies have increasingly influenced and changed our daily life. They allow global connectivity and easy access to distributed applications and digital services over the Internet. This report analysis security requirements on trust establishment and trust evaluation based on two different use case scenarios: "Trusted Communication using COTS" and "Trust Establishment for Cross-organizational Crises Management". A systematic needs analysis is performed on both scenarios which haver resulted in a large and well documented set of requirements. This is the first step in a large effort to define a security architecture for the two use case scenarios.
