Hybrid clipping and companding techniques based peak to average power ratio reduction in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing based differential chaos shift keying system

    Get PDF
In this paper, a hybrid approach using clipping and companding techniques is introduced to reduce the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing based differential chaos shift keying (OFDM-DCSK), which is the major drawback of the OFDM-DCSK. The hybrid function is processed at the end of the transmitter before transmitting the signal. However, there is no need for an inverse function at the receiver, which decreases the system complexity. Several techniques have been proposed in the literature for decreasing the PAPR value. Clipping and companding are active methods in terms of reducing the PAPR. Finally, the PAPR reduction and bit error rate (BER) performances are evaluated. The simulation results show that this technique gives better performance as compared with the clipping and companding techniques

Multi-User Multi-Carrier Differential Chaos Shift Keying Communication System

In this paper, a multi user Multi-Carrier Differential Chaos Shift Keying (MC-DCSK) modulation is presented. The system endeavors to provide a good trade-off between robustness, energy efficiency and high data rate, while still being simple. In this architecture of MC-DCSK system, for each user, chaotic reference sequence is transmitted over a predefined subcarrier frequency. Multiple modulated data streams are transmitted over the remaining subcarriers allocated for each user. This transmitter structure saves energy and increases the spectral efficiency of the conventional DCSK system.Comment: Accepted in the IEEE International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC 2013

Physical Layer Security using Time-Reversal Pre-Coding based OFDM-DCSK Communication System with Artificial Noise Injection

    Get PDF
In this paper, Time-Reversal (TR) pre-coding with Artificial Noise (AN) injection is proposed to enhance the physical layer security (PLS) performance in orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing-Differential Chaos Shift Keying (OFDM-DCSK) system, which is named the TRAN-OFDM-DCSK system. This approach is provided to achieve high data rates, high PL data security, and high reliability performance. The AN signal does not spoil the transmitted data to the genuine receiver, but it reduces the ungenuine detection performance. This system ensures the secrecy of communication to the genuine receiver when the sender knows the Channel State Information (CSI) of the genuine communication link. Still, the information about the instantaneous CSI of a possible eavesdropper does not know the transmitter. The performance of the proposed TRAN-OFDM-DCSK system is investigated and tested under a Flat Rayleigh Fading Channel (FRFC). An approach is provided for calculating the performance of Bit Error Rate (BER), and the expression of BER analytical is derived and compared with the simulation version. Furthermore, the ergodic Secrecy Rate (SR) is derived and analyzed at the genuine and ungenuine receivers over the FRFC. Our result shows the best performance for the genuine receiver compared with ungenuine receiver regarding secrecy performance for BER and SR

Enhancing physical layer security of cognitive radio transceiver via chaotic OFDM

Due to the enormous potential of improving the spectral utilization by using Cognitive Radio (CR), designing adaptive access system and addressing its physical layer security are the most important and challenging issues in CR networks. Since CR transceivers need to transmit over multiple non-contiguous frequency holes, multi-carrier based system is one of the best candidates for CR's physical layer design. In this paper, we propose a combined chaotic scrambling (CS) and chaotic shift keying (CSK) scheme in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based CR to enhance its physical layer security. By employing chaos based third order Chebyshev map which allows optimum bit error rate (BER) performance of CSK modulation, the proposed combined scheme outperforms the traditional OFDM system in overlay scenario with Rayleigh fading channel. Importantly, with two layers of encryption based on chaotic scrambling and CSK modulation, large key size can be generated to resist any brute-force attack, leading to a significantly improved level of security

THE PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF MULTI USER OFDM ORTHOGONAL CHAOTIC VECTOR SHIFT KEYING SUPPORTED BY LDPC

Recently, LDPC code have become very important research area in wireless communication due to its ability to increase the capacity in a wireless fading environment, with low implementation complexity. In this paper, LDPC are combined with Multi User OFDM Orthogonal Chaotic Vector Shift Keying (MU-OFDM-OCVSK) communication system to improve the BER performance over multi-path Rayleigh fading channels. Two types of LDPC decoder are introduced that are Log-Domain and Min-Sum decoder. The system is simulated using MATLAB program version 2019a for different scenarios which include different number of iterations, different block lengths, different number of users and different number of spreading factor. The results show that a coding gain in a range of (4.5 – 7) dB is achieved between the coded and uncoded MU-OFDM-OCVSK system. The results also show that the Min-Sum decoder outperform the Log-Domain decoder in all scenarios.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF QUADRATURE CHAOS SHIFT

One of the most famous techniques of non-coherent differential chaos shift keying (DCSK) is Quadrature chaos shift keying (QCSK) system, this system suffered from lowering the data rate and increasing the bit energy during the bit transmission even though its rate doubling the one of the DCSK. Short reference (SR) algorithm is proposed for the QCSK system to design the SR-QCSK communication system that enhances these drawbacks. The main idea of the short reference technique is minimizing the length of the reference chaotic signal (β) at a transmitter by a factor P comparing to produce R samples for the new reference signal while the length of the information-bearing signal remained unchanged, this occurs by duplicating the reference signal P times to get the same length as the conventional QCSK. Therefore, the symbol duration is reduced from 2βTc to (R+β)Tc. The data rate and energy saving improvement factor in a percent form is derived and compared with the QCSK and DCSK systems. Also, the BER analytical expression is derived for the SR-QCSK in additive white Gaussian noise and Rayleigh fading channel. The experimental simulation results proved that the theory derivation gives a good analysis tracking for the BER performance. The SR-QCSK system is compared with other DCSK techniques and the simulation results show that it has a superior performance in the multipath Rayleigh fading channel
