A Novel QoS provisioning Scheme for OBS networks
This paper presents Classified Cloning, a novel QoS provisioning mechanism for OBS networks carrying real-time
applications (such as video on demand, Voice over IP, online
gaming and Grid computing). It provides such applications with a minimum loss rate while minimizing end-to-end delay and jitter. ns-2 has been used as the simulation tool, with new OBS modules having been developed for performance evaluation purposes. Ingress node performance has been investigated, as well as the overall performance of the suggested scheme. The results obtained showed that new scheme has superior performance to classical cloning. In particular, QoS provisioning offers a guaranteed burst loss rate, delay and expected value of jitter, unlike existing proposals for QoS implementation in OBS which use the burst offset time to provide such differentiation. Indeed, classical schemes increase both end-to-end delay and
jitter. It is shown that the burst loss rate is reduced by 50% reduced over classical cloning
The effects of qos level degradation cost on provider selection and task allocation model in telecommunication networks
Firms acquire network capacity from multiple suppliers which offer different Quality of Service (QoS) levels. After acquisition, day-to-day operations such as video conferencing, voice over IP and data applications are allocated between these acquired capacities by considering QoS requirement of each operation. In optimal allocation scheme, it is generally assumed each operation has to be placed into resource that provides equal or higher QoS Level. Conversely, in this study it is showed that former allocation strategy may lead to suboptimal solutions depending upon penalty cost policy to charge degradation in QoS requirements. We model a cost minimization problem which includes three cost components namely capacity acquisition, opportunity and penalty due to loss in QoS

The published version can be accessed at the following link on the publisher’s website: https://doi.org/10.3390/electronics9030524A vehicular adhoc network (VANET) recently emerged in the the Internet of Vehicles (IoV); it involves the computational processing of moving vehicles. Nowadays, IoV has turned into an interesting field of research as vehicles can be equipped with processors, sensors, and communication devices. IoV gives rise to handoff, which involves changing the connection points during the online communication session. This presents a major challenge for which many standardized solutions are recommended. Although there are various proposed techniques and methods to support seamless handover procedure in IoV, there are still some open research issues, such as unavoidable packet loss rate and latency. On the other hand, the emerged concept of edge mobile computing has gained crucial attention by researchers that could help in reducing computational complexities and decreasing communication delay. Hence, this paper specifically studies the handoff challenges in cluster based handoff using new concept of dynamic edge-backup node. The outcomes are evaluated and contrasted with the network mobility method, our proposed technique, and other cluster-based technologies. The results show that coherence in communication during the handoff method can be upgraded, enhanced, and improved utilizing the proposed technique.Published onlin
The Methods to Improve Quality of Service by Accounting Secure Parameters
A solution to the problem of ensuring quality of service, providing a greater
number of services with higher efficiency taking into account network security
is proposed. In this paper, experiments were conducted to analyze the effect of
self-similarity and attacks on the quality of service parameters. Method of
buffering and control of channel capacity and calculating of routing cost
method in the network, which take into account the parameters of traffic
multifractality and the probability of detecting attacks in telecommunications
networks were proposed. The both proposed methods accounting the given
restrictions on the delay time and the number of lost packets for every type
quality of service traffic. During simulation the parameters of transmitted
traffic (self-similarity, intensity) and the parameters of network (current
channel load, node buffer size) were changed and the maximum allowable load of
network was determined. The results of analysis show that occurrence of
overload when transmitting traffic over a switched channel associated with
multifractal traffic characteristics and presence of attack. It was shown that
proposed methods can reduce the lost data and improve the efficiency of network
resources.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, 1 equation, 1 table. arXiv admin note: text

Distributed simulation and the grid: Position statements
The Grid provides a new and unrivaled technology for large scale distributed simulation as it enables collaboration and the use of distributed computing resources. This panel paper presents the views of four researchers in the area of Distributed Simulation and the Grid. Together we try to identify the main research issues involved in applying Grid technology to distributed simulation and the key future challenges that need to be solved to achieve this goal. Such challenges include not only technical challenges, but also political ones such as management methodology for the Grid and the development of standards. The benefits of the Grid to end-user simulation modelers also are discussed
