Time interleaved optical sampling for ultra-high speed A/D conversion
A scheme is proposed for increasing the sampling rate of analogue-to-digital conversion by more than an order of magnitude by combining state-of-the-art A/D converters with photonic technology. Ultra-high speed sampling is performed optically by a multiwavelength pulse train. Wavelength demultiplexers convert the high repetition rate data stream of samples into parallel data streams that can be handled by available electronic A/D converters
Evaluation of magnetic materials for static inverters and converters
Program studies materials for use in static inverters and converters. It gives suitable data on the behavior of commonly used materials when excited with square wave power
Fiber optic crossbar switch for automatically patching optical signals
A system for automatically optically switching fiber optic data signals between a plurality of input optical fibers and selective ones of a plurality of output fibers is described. The system includes optical detectors which are connected to each of the input fibers for converting the optic data signals appearing at the respective input fibers to an RF signal. A plurality of RF to optical signal converters are arranged in rows and columns. The output of each of the optical detectors are each applied to a respective row of optical signal converted for being converters back to an optical signal when the particular optical signal converter is selectively activated by a dc voltage

AC vs. DC Boost Converters: A Detailed Conduction Loss Comparison
Studies have shown the efficiency benefits of DC dis- tribution systems are largely due to the superior performance of DC/DC converters. Nonetheless, these studies are often based on product data that differs widely in manufacturer and operating voltage. This work develops a rigorous loss model to theoretically compare the efficiency of a DC/DC and an AC/DC PFC boost converter. It ensures each converter has the same components and equivalent operating voltages. The results show AC boost converters below 500 W to have 2.9 to 4.2 times the loss of DC
Run numbering system for use with data recorders
Run numbering identification system provides a permanent identification on the recorder traces of data runs. It automatically enters, by pulse coding, the number of the current data run on the recorder trace. The system uses a keyboard, registers, converters, amplifiers, and a pulse generator
Stereoscopic computer graphics display system
Handbook was published on study which describes relative merits of two general-purpose, steroscopic display systems. Both systems are adaptable to most small data processing facilities and, with minimal hardware development, greatly enhance user ability to interact with computer and to interpret data output. Section also describes digital-to-analog converters designed for use with system
