An Open Source Based Data Warehouse Architecture to Support Decision Making in the Tourism Sector
In this paper an alternative Tourism oriented Data Warehousing architecture is proposed which makes use of the most recent free and open source technologies like Java, Postgresql and XML. Such architecture's aim will be to support the decision making process and giving an integrated view of the whole Tourism reality in an established context (local, regional, national, etc.) without requesting big investments for getting the necessary software.Tourism, Data warehousing architecture

Optimizing Data Warehousing Startegies
Database technologies have evolved over the last two decades into different constructs to support the ever-growing information needs for organizations spanning the spectrum of operational and analytical processing. The paper examines the characteristics of transactional databases, operational data stores, data warehouses and virtual data warehouses. A framework is developed for an optimal data warehousing strategy based on organizational needs classified by the types of business processes defined by the requirements of supporting functional areas and the levels of decision structures. Enterprise architecture is described to provide an integrated and complimentary view of various data warehousing constructs
An Empirical Investigation of the Impact of Data Quality and its Antecedents on Data Warehousing
Data warehousing is a topic of great interest in the business community, due to increasing business intelligence demands, coupled with increased data availability and processing capability. Despite large financial backing of data warehousing implementations, many fail. Little research has been conducted pertaining to data warehousing success. Traditional system success models (DeLone and McLean, 1992; Seddon, 1997) may be extensible to data warehousing, provided both infrastructure and business application aspects of the implementation are carefully considered, and provided increased attention is paid to the antecedents of data and system quality. Wixom and Watson (2001) conducted an empirical study examining the antecedents to data and system quality to data warehousing success, but found no statistically significant support for the data quality antecedents proposed. This paper reviews system success and data quality literature and proposes a new model for data warehousing success. The new model extends traditional system success models to data warehousing, but proposes a new set of data quality antecedents, which can be empirically examined
The Use and Value of Data Warehousing in Higher Education
Industry is experiencing a dramatic increase in the use of data warehousing techniques, but higher education has been slow to follow suit. This paper illustrates some common uses of data warehousing in industry, provides higher education analogues and suggests the potential value of data warehousing techniques to colleges and universities
Data Warehouse, Data Mining dan Konsep Cross-Selling pada Analisis Penjualan Produk
This paper is about designing and implementing data warehousing and data mining, along with their roles in supporting decision-making related to sales product analysis in cross-selling concept of PT XYZ. The database the company used is not supporting data analysis and decision-making. Therefore, it made a data warehousing design that could be used to keep data in a huge amount and could give report and answer from user\u27s questions in ad hoc. The method is used to design and implement data warehousing and data mining which consists of literature study, company problem analysis, and data warehousing design, and testing result. The writing results are a data warehousing design and data mining and also the implementation of cross-selling concept to analysis the sales, purchases, and customers\u27 cancellation data. The data could be showed and analyzed from some point of views that could help managers to analyse and acknowledge more information
