supervisor Dr. Abed El-Hamid ZougborStoring and sharing files is a task that all internet users do every day, in recent years the way people store their files is changed due the emergence of cloud storages services such as Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, etc. They introduced a great solution for most users when it comes to storing files and sharing it with others. There are a ton of cloud storages options out there. Inevitably, everyone finds a favorite, but more than likely, a lot of users end up with a bunch of unused free storage from other services or the circumstances dictates them to use different cloud drives in case the user prefers Google Drive for example, but his work’s infrastructure uses Dropbox and his friends keep sharing files and photos using OneDrive. As a result the user begin to suffer from the same problem that was hoping to avoid from the first place, it became so frustrating to manage, store and share his files because it’s scattered in several storages and each one requires its own login. Duo to this, MCloud was born. MCloud is a web-based application essentially as cloud service that can put multiple cloud drives into one. It mainly serves for the users who have multiple cloud drives and in the need for managing all the files in their cloud drives through just one single account. MCloud users can connect their MCloud profile to other cloud storage services such as Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox. This connection allows the MCloud user to browse all files of these different drives in the same place without opening too many tabs or keeping longing in and out. Furthermore the team made sure that most functionalities that were available in the original cloud drives are also exists in MCloud system as well for instances the user can share files on social media and copy a sharable link to send it via email or a chat, also the major file management tools like creating, deleting and renaming files and folders are available, in addition to that the user also able to download and upload files easily. The team was dedicated to develop the system in the most fitted development practices with the available skills by using the ASP.NET MVC as the development framework with C# as programming language for our system following the incremental model with all the shear amount of advantages it offers. Reporting an Experience on Design and Implementation of e-Health Systems on Azure Cloud

Electronic Health (e-Health) technology has brought the world with significant transformation from traditional paper-based medical practice to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)-based systems for automatic management (storage, processing, and archiving) of information. Traditionally e-Health systems have been designed to operate within stovepipes on dedicated networks, physical computers, and locally managed software platforms that make it susceptible to many serious limitations including: 1) lack of on-demand scalability during critical situations; 2) high administrative overheads and costs; and 3) in-efficient resource utilization and energy consumption due to lack of automation. In this paper, we present an approach to migrate the ICT systems in the e-Health sector from traditional in-house Client/Server (C/S) architecture to the virtualised cloud computing environment. To this end, we developed two cloud-based e-Health applications (Medical Practice Management System and Telemedicine Practice System) for demonstrating how cloud services can be leveraged for developing and deploying such applications. The Windows Azure cloud computing platform is selected as an example public cloud platform for our study. Cross Platform Web Application Development Using ASP.NET Core

Cross platform software development is a practice of developing an application which can be run on more than one OS platform such as Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc. Today’s web application development trend is moving towards cross platform frameworks as we can see that the types of web application we build today are very different from the ones we used to build a decade ago. With the rise of cloud-based systems, mobile technologies, and extensive web interactive environments, web applications today are becoming more dynamic and consequently the web application development process have made tremendous advances. Web applications are expected to be highly performant and scalable. To address the rapidly changing web development landscape and performance scalability requirements there is a need of a powerful framework. ASP.NET Core is one such framework which incorporates modern approach for building web applications. It provides cross-platform capabilities i.e. having a single code base for the application and running it on different platforms. It also provides high performance and modular infrastructure. This report presents a software development process of cross platform web application in which it explains design, development and deployment of ASP.NET Core web application. A timesheet management system which is developed as a part of this project, helps to manage timesheet operations of an organization and provides efficient way to track time used by employees in various projects and their time offs. The application is called MyTime. It is built utilizing ASP.NET Core MVC Framework and Entity Framework Core which is deployed on two platforms; Windows and Linux. This report describes the detail steps of deployment for both platforms. It provides an overall idea of how ASP.NET Core framework can be utilized to build a web application with cross platform capabilities

Leveraging Virtualization for Performance Driven Development

This thesis contains the research component of a software engineering study to create a .NET application performance testing lab, and several guided learning activities intended to teach the fundamentals of how to use it. In arriving upon the research which serves as the groundwork for this project, an introduction to the concepts of software performance, the risks associated with performances, and an approach to mitigating this risks called performance driven development is presented. This introduction is expanded by an overview of how performance is affected from application, network, database and presentation aspects. To address problems associated with performance in .NET web applications, a virtual test lab has been created on the software engineering lab server at Regis University\u27s Academic Research Network (ARNe), and this paper documents the architecture of that test lab. In order to demonstrate how it can be used students, developers or others previously unfamiliar with performance testing, a series of presentations has been composed, and this paper represents the research conducted in composing them.
