Observer Design for a Core Circadian Rhythm Network

    Get PDF
The paper investigates the observer design for a core circadian rhythm network in Drosophila and Neurospora. Based on the constructed highly nonlinear differential equation model and the recently proposed graphical approach, we design a rather simple observer for the circadian rhythm oscillator, which can well track the state of the original system for various input signals. Numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the designed observer. Potential applications of the related investigations include the real-world control and experimental design of the related biological networks

Synchronization Control for Stochastic Neural Networks with Mixed Time-Varying Delays

    Get PDF
Synchronization control of stochastic neural networks with time-varying discrete and continuous delays has been investigated. A novel control scheme is proposed using the Lyapunov functional method and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. Sufficient conditions have been derived to ensure the global asymptotical mean-square stability for the error system, and thus the drive system synchronizes with the response system. Also, the control gain matrix can be obtained. With these effective methods, synchronization can be achieved. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the theoretical results

Pinning Lur’e Complex Networks via Output Feedback Control

    Get PDF
Without requiring the full-state information of network nodes, this paper studies the pinning synchronization in a network of Lur’e dynamical systems based on the output feedback control strategy. Some simple pinning conditions are established for both undirected and directed Lur’e networks by using M-matrix theory and S-procedure technique. With the derived stability criteria, the pinning synchronization problem of large-scale Lur’e networks can be transformed to the test of a low-dimensional linear matrix inequality. Some remarks are further given to address the selection of pinned nodes and the design of pinning feedback gains. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis

Output feedback consensus control for fractional-order nonlinear multi-agent systems with directed topologies

    Get PDF
Abstract(#br)This paper is devoted to the output feedback consensus control problem for a class of nonlinear fractional-order multi-agent systems (MASs) with general directed topologies. It is worth noting that the considered fractional-order MASs including the second-order MASs as special cases. By introducing a distributed filter for each agent, a control algorithm uses only relative position measurements is proposed to guarantee the global leaderless consensus can be achieved. Also the derived results are further extended to consensus tracking problem with a leader whose input is unknown and bounded. Finally, two simulation examples are provided to verify the performance of the control design

Distributed Cooperative Regulation for Multiagent Systems and Its Applications to Power Systems: A Survey

    Get PDF
Cooperative regulation of multiagent systems has become an active research area in the past decade. This paper reviews some recent progress in distributed coordination control for leader-following multiagent systems and its applications in power system and mainly focuses on the cooperative tracking control in terms of consensus tracking control and containment tracking control. Next, methods on how to rank the network nodes are summarized for undirected/directed network, based on which one can determine which follower should be connected to leaders such that partial followers can perceive leaders’ information. Furthermore, we present a survey of the most relevant scientific studies investigating the regulation and optimization problems in power systems based on distributed strategies. Finally, some potential applications in the frequency tracking regulation of smart grids are discussed at the end of the paper

Consensus tracking of multi-agent systems with lipschitz-type node dynamics and switching topologies

Abstract-Distributed consensus tracking is addressed in this paper for multi-agent systems with Lipschitz-type node dynamics. The main contribution of this work is solving the consensus tracking problem without the assumption that the topology among followers is strongly connected and fixed. By using tools from -matrix theory, a class of consensus tracking protocols based only on the relative states among neighboring agents is designed. By appropriately constructing Lyapunov function, it is proved that consensus tracking in the closed-loop multi-agent systems with a fixed topology having a directed spanning tree can be achieved if the feedback gain matrix and the coupling strength are suitably selected. Furthermore, with the assumption that each possible topology contains a directed spanning tree, it is theoretically shown that consensus tracking under switching directed topologies can be achieved if the control parameters are suitably selected and the dwell time is larger than a positive threshold. The results are then extended to the case where the communication topology contains a directed spanning tree only frequently as the system evolves with time. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical analysis
