The objective should always be to make the event as beneficial as possible for all participants. Increasingly, also people with intellectual disabilities actively participate in events together with many other participants. This shows the growing inclusion of this group of people in our societies and should be much more promoted. Of course, these participants are often very disappointed when they cannot follow and participate in an event because some basic guidelines for accessibility have not been followed. As organizer of an event, you are in the critical position to include considerations about its accessibility from the beginning of the planning process. Taking care of these issues from the beginning has proven to be most effective and avoids costly changes to programmes and venues

Specifications for Creating a Mobile Application for Meeting and Conference Attendees

The purpose of this study was to develop specifications for a mobile application for meeting and conference attendees. The set of features was determined by comparing the current offerings of mobile applications for meetings and conferences. There was a discussion of the purpose of meetings and conferences, followed by a review of the history of meetings technology. The mobile software development process was also explored. The paper resulted in the creation of flow charts and wire-frame outlines that would be used to develop a mobile application for meetings and conferences

International perspectives on validity in action research: introduction to the special issue

This special issue has its roots in a series of meetings at the annual EGOS conferences held between 2001 and 2007. The Action Research sub-theme at these annual meetings has attracted almost 200 papers from authors on every continent. A particular focus of the group has been the socio-economic approach to action research developed by Henri Savall and the ISEOR team which discusses what Savall describes as "Generic Contingencies” and a “qualimetrics research methodology” (2003). The meetings have drawn together a truly international grouping of researchers who share a common interest in working closely with the world of practice to “make a difference.

From Tokenism to Emancipatory Politics: The Conferences and Meetings of Law Professors of Color

In this paper, the author traces the history of the First National Meetings and conferences since 1969. In Part II, this paper explores the range of meetings and conferences which outlined the development of a proactive agenda for minority student and faculty inclusion within mainstream historically White legal institutions and the evolution of this agenda from one of access to an agenda of security, retention, and the advancement of legal theory and scholarship within and without the established academy. Part III chronicles the maturation of this tradition of independent meetings and conferences of professors of color into a network of legal education institutions promoting institutional, as well as ideological, pluralism. Finally, the concluding comments are devoted to an analysis of the two-fold function of this tradition of meetings and conferences: to combat the paradoxical isolation and heightened visibility of professors of color within historically White institutions and to generate legal theory responsive to the experiences of people of color
