    Conclusions and Outlook

The first and clear conclusion from the papers in this book is far from surprising: law of the European Union has impact on national civil procedure. This might concern primary EU law, secondary EU law, case law, fundamental legal principles or soft law instruments. At the same time, there seems to be significant variation on several aspects of the impact of EU law on national civil procedure law. It appears that there is variation in the level of influence and in the way EU law has impact on national procedural systems. The various countries display considerable variation as to the extent of the influence both in terms of width and depth of the impact. In some countries, many different areas of civil procedure have undergone some change, while in others change is more limited in scope, or on certain areas even absent. Some national civil procedure systems have faced profound impact in some areas. While change in other systems has, at least so far, been limited to a much lower level of just concerns peripheral areas. In some of the countries studied, Europeanisation of EU law has met more resistance than in others. In this concluding chapter, we go into some general conclusions by analysing and comparing the various contributions

Investigations on T violation and CPT symmetry in the neutral kaon system -- a pedagogical approach --

During the recent years experiments with neutral kaons have yielded remarkably sensitive results which are pertinent to such fundamental phenomena as CPT invariance (protecting causality), time-reversal invariance violation, coherence of wave functions, and entanglement of kaons in pair states. We describe the phenomenological developments and the theoretical conclusions drawn from the experimental material. An outlook to future experimentation is indicated.Comment: 41 pages, 9 figures. Quantum discrete breathers

We review recent studies about quantum discrete breathers. We describe their basic properties in comparison with their classical counterparts, and the ways they may be addressed theoretically in different quantum lattice models including either bosonic or fermionic excitations. We also review recent experimental work in the field.Comment: 49 pages, 36 figures, some corrected typos, and the section "Conclusions and outlook" was added. Chapter for a book edited by S. Time-integrated measurements and prospects for the CKM angle gamma at LHCb

The status and prospects of time-integrated measurements of the CKM angle gamma at LHCb, the LHC's dedicated flavor physics experiment, are reviewed. Yields obtained from early data taking are presented and extrapolations are made to estimate what can be expected to be obtained from the 2011 data. The conclusions drawn from these extrapolations are that LHCb will produce the world's best measurement of gamma by the end of 2011 and that the long-term outlook is excellent.Comment: Proceedings of CKM2010, the 6th International Workshop on the CKM Unitarity Triangle, University of Warwick, UK, 6-10 September 201

The Outlook Impact on A.M. Best Ratings

This paper examines the Financial Strength Rating for insurers conducted by A.M. Best. This study specifically analyzes if the Outlook, another financial stability measure assigned by A.M. Best, has any significant effect on the Financial Strength Rating. This is important because this is the first known study which looks to analyze the Outlook and any effect it may have on A.M. Best ratings and insurance companies. In order to examine the Outlook effect on A.M. Best Financial Strength Ratings, insurer specific financial and operational data are collected from the statutory annual statements filed with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for the years 1996 through 2015. Various insurance variables such as the insurer’s NAIC number, A.M. Best Financial Strength Rating, A.M. Best Outlook, financial size, and type of company (stock, mutual, or other) are used in t-test and regression analysis. This paper draws conclusions such as a negative Outlook will lead to a decrease in FSR in the current year, the following year, or two years after the negative Outlook is given while a positive Outlook can lead to an increase in FSR in the year following the Outlook or two years of receiving the positive Outlook, however, it is unlikely that the insurer will see an FSR increase in the same year the positive Outlook is given

Mental Health in Jamaica: An approach to awareness and treatment in children

The awareness, perception and treatment of Autism was studied during a service study abroad class to Petersfield, Jamaica during the winters of 2013 and 2014. The program was developed to gain a basic understanding of the etiology of the disorder, and to examine the dynamic of a rural population’s outlook on health. Parents, teachers, and other community members were interviewed and engaged in discussion to share knowledge and perceptions of Autism. We will discuss our experience and findings. Our preliminary conclusions include the following. First, the amount and availability of resources affects the parents and children, impacting his or her disorder and treatment. Second, noticeable differences in the schooling systems in the United States and Jamaica have an impact on the outlook of health in general, and we’ve found that the services provided in various countries differ on how they affect the individual child or family. For example, the cultural differences may impact the level of acceptance of mental health in the U.S. and Jamaica and bar the progression of health awareness. A challenge to overcome is the prominent barrier of socioeconomic status along with the need for culturally-sound approaches to medicine. What may also differ in other cultures is the approach to the treatment and education of physical and mental health. We may find that effective public health education that works in the United States may not apply elsewhere

Moral Formation in a Culture of Relativism: Correlates of Universalism and Relativism in the Moral Outlooks of Emerging Adults

This study explores some of the demographic, personal, and experiential factors of emerging adults that correlate to a spectrum of moral outlooks ranging from moral universalism to moral relativism. Data was gathered from 466 volunteer undergraduate students. Respondents’ demographic, experiential, and personal factors served as independent variables. The relativism index score form Forsyth’s Ethics Position Questionnaire (1980) served as the dependent variable. Results suggest several conclusions: First, adults in the life of youth are a significant factor in moral outlook, exerting influence in both universalistic and relativistic directions. Second, religious practice and involvement contribute to a universal moral outlook. Third, the personal characteristics of grit and spiritual transcendence contribute to a universal moral outlook. Fourth, engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage contributes to a relative moral outlook. Fifth, a Catholic school education at both the grade and high school levels contributes to a universal moral outlook

    Presentation: The Budget In Free-Fall

The presenter asks: How much, and how quickly, has the federal budget picture changed? How realistic is the budget "baseline" today? What is the outlook for the public debt? Conclusions in brief: The budget has worsened enormously in the past six months.Huge anomalies make the current budget projections necessarily unhelpful and potentially misleading. Most current budget presentations make the deficit and debt outlook appear far less troubling than it really is
