Collaborative searching for video using the FĂschlĂĄr system and a DiamondTouch table

Fischlar DT is one of a family of systems which support interactive searching and browsing through an archive of digital video information. Previous Fischlar systems have used a conventional screen, keyboard and mouse interface, but Fischlar-DT operates with using a horizontal, multiuser, touch sensitive tabletop known as a DiamondTouch. We present the Fischlar-DT system partly from a systems perspective, but mostly in terms of how its design and functionality supports collaborative searching. The contribution of the paper is thus the introduction of Fischlar-DT and a description of how design concerns for supporting collaborative search can be realised on a tabletop interface

The Informatics of the Equity Markets - A Collaborative Approach

    Get PDF
This paper aims to provide a high-level overview upon the information technology that supports the electronic transactions performed on the equity markets. It is meant to offer a succinct introduction to the various technologies tailored to tackle the data transfer between the participants on an equity market, the architectural approaches regarding trading system design, and the communication in a collaborative distributed computing environment. Our intention here is not to provide solutions, or to propose definitive designs, merely to scratch the surface of this vast domain, and open the path for subsequent researches.securities exchange, stock order flow, trading system architecture, distributed computing, middleware, collaborative system, order-matching algorithm

Proof in Context -- Web Editing with Rich, Modeless Contextual Feedback

The Agora system is a prototypical Wiki for formal mathematics: a web-based system for collaborating on formal mathematics, intended to support informal documentation of formal developments. This system requires a reusable proof editor component, both for collaborative editing of documents, and for embedding in the resulting documents. This paper describes the design of Agora's asynchronous editor, that is generic enough to support different tools working on editor content and providing contextual information, with interactive theorem proverss being a special, but important, case described in detail for the Coq theorem prover.Comment: In Proceedings UITP 2012, arXiv:1307.152

A framework of web-based conceptual design

    Get PDF
A web-based conceptual design prototype system is presented. The system consists of four parts which interpret on-line sketches as 2D and 3D geometry, extract 3D hierarchical configurations, allow editing of component behaviours, and produce VRML-based behavioural simulations for design verification and web-based application. In the first part, on-line freehand sketched input is interpreted as 2D and 3D geometry, which geometrically represents conceptual design. The system then infers 3D configuration by analysing 3D modelling history. The configuration is described by a parent–child hierarchical relationship and relative positions between two geometric components. The positioning information is computed with respect to the VRML97 specification. In order to verify the conceptual design of a product, the behaviours can be specified interactively on different components. Finally, the system creates VRML97 formatted files for behavioural simulation and collaborative design application over the Internet. The paper gives examples of web-based applications. This work forms a part of a research project into the design and establishing of modular machines for automation manufacture.
