Research collaboration is the way forward in order to improve quality and impact of its research findings. International research collaboration has resulted in international co-authorship in scientific communications and publications. This study highlights the collaborating research and authorship trend in clinical medicine in Malaysia from 2001 to 2010. Malaysian-based author affiliation in the Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded) and clinical medicine journals (n = 999) and articles (n = 3951) as of 30th Oct 2011 were downloaded. Types of document analyzed were articles and reviews, and impact factors (IF) in the 2010 Journal Citation Report Science Edition were taken to access the quality of the articles. The number of publications in clinical medicine increased from 4.5 % (n = 178) in 2001 to 23.9 % (n = 944) in 2010. The top three contributors in the subject categories are Pharmacology and Pharmacy (13.9 %), General and Internal Medicine (13.6 %) and Tropical Medicine (7.3 %). By journal tier system: Tier 1 (18.7 %, n = 738), Tier 2 (22.5 %, n = 888), Tier 3 (29.6 %, n = 1170), Tier 4 (27.2 %, n = 1074), and journals without IF (2.1 %, n = 81). University of Malaya was the most productive. Local collaborators accounted for 60.3 % and international collaborations 39.7 %. Articles with international collaborations appeared in journals with higher journal IFs than those without international collaboration. They were also cited more significantly than articles without international collaborations. Citations, impact factor and journal tiers were significantly associated with international collaboration in Malaysia’s clinical medicine publications. Malaysia has achieved a significant number of ISI publications in clinical medicine participation in international collaboration

Analysis of the International Cooperation Network in Alternative Energy Production Technology Development Based on Co-Patents

This paper analyses international cooperation in alternative energy production research and development. Therefore, patents of the technological domain, registered at the European Patent Office from 1997 until 2016, are analysed. International cooperation is considered when patents involve co-assignment or co-inventorship comprising two or more different countries. Generally, international R&D cooperation tends to be increasing over time in alternative energy production. In total, 2234 co-patents from 87 countries are identified. Through social network analysis the cooperative relationships between countries are examined. The most significant states of the network are the United States of America and Germany. Innovative clusters and strong partnerships are identified. Alternative energy technologies that involve international cooperation most extensively are harnessing energy from manmade waste, solar energy and bio-fuels. The paper clarifies which countries are cooperating with each other for what purpose. The findings can be used for establishing R&D strategies in the domain of alternative energy production

UNDERSTANDING THE EVOLUTION OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS RESEARCH FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF CO-AUTHORSHIP NETWORK: A COMPREHENSIVE DATA ANALYSIS FROM 1993 TO 2012

Based on the articles published in three top journals in the field of information systems (MISQ, ISR and JMIS) from 1993 to 2012, we conduct a research of the structure, characteristics and development trend of co-authorship network through scientometrics and social network analysis approaches. We gain a number of insights after synthetical analysis. In the last two decades the whole co-authorship network density in information systems faces a tendency of decrease. The co-authorship network presents properties of “small world”. The number of articles published by scholars and institutions in the three elite journals all display a ‘long tail’ phenomenon. The field of information systems has a stable development in the biggest component, and has not yet went into a mature and steady stage. Quite a lot of outstanding scholars and educational resources came from USA, Canada and Hong Kong, and USA has held eight institutions of the top ten. The ranking of an entire institution can be influenced by even one or two authors, indicating that outcome from one level might propagate to the next level

This research intends to study the status of scientific outputs, core journals in the fields of technical and engineering, and the scientific collaboration between Technical and Engineering Research Institutes of Iran Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in Tehran. Data were obtained from Scopus and WOS databases during 2011 and 2015. This scientometrics research has been carried out by Social Network Analysis. The community is scientific products of 7 different institutes related to MSRT in Tehran. These data needed in this research…..were collected databases in November 2015. The analysis result indicates that Iran\u27s Institute of Polymer and Petrochemicals ranked first and the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute ranked second in the field of high-profile authors. There are also more scientific productions with more than 3 researchers. In the terms of cohesion, nearly %26 of researchers have collaborated with each other. Based on the (SNA) indicators, NIGB is the most active institute in the formation of scientific networks of research and technical areas. It was also shown that the largest scientific production was in collaboration with the United States. Subject field can be one of the factors of high scientific production of two IIPPI & NIGEG. The result showed that in scientific interactions, the trend of group work in TETRI is not effective enough. One of the reasons might be the attention to the basic topics of each discipline and the lack of attention to the solution of interdisciplinary issues. The NIGEG has a privileged position among other research institutes and has more power and influence in the network. The United States has been the focus of the researchers\u27 attention, and this could be due to less obstacles in the country

Co-authoring in Social Sciences as a strategy for improving the visibility of scientific Works: increase in the number of citations (2005-2014)

Co-authorship is analyzed in WoS in the Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary category between 2005 and 2014, in order to demonstrate the hypothesis that there is a correlation between co-authorship and an increase in the number of citations. For this purpose, co-authorship has been analyzed both at the intrainstitutional, interinstitutional, national and international levels. It is observed how there is an increase in the citation of the works that have multi author relationships at both international and international level. The analysis and results have been made on a total of 1,105 documents relevant to our consultation, which is based on the fact that at least one author of the sea works of a Spanish institution

Research activities are defensi action researchers in all countries including Indonesia to overcome the threat of an energy crisis. It required the action of partnership in order to realize the energy scientific work credible that can be disseminated in reputable scientific publications. ScienceDirect is the prestigious publication that essential explored in order to measure the Indonesia researchers cooperation in the international arena. To know evolution of research collaboration, construction research, research leadership, and involvement of colleagues used bibliometric assessments. Research collaboration led Indonesia for over decade resulted in 207 articles with rapid growth tends. Research achieved by the emergence of 802 researchers and 363 affiliates, published over 14 reputable journals with ratio of 3.87 researches. While the ratio of institution, country and regional indices one more. Only period 2010-2011 architecture research absolute by international collaboration. For a decade the academic research construction proved productive achieve article. Meanwhile the scientific collaboration led 68 local institutions to set aside 28.02% global-scale research. Domestic institutions residing in 18 provinces and Aceh is a zone with index collaboration fantastic. Indonesia also coalition with 21 countries and Japan most active support national research. Of the amount, 50 partner countries delegate research institutions to collaborate
