Analisis penerimaan pemustaka terhadap electronic theses & dissertations di Perpustakaan Universitas Gadjah Mada

Introduction. Electronic theses & dissertations is one important service at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Library  is to simplify the end-user reading service. However,it is still not understood whether the users are satisfied with the new service.  An analysis is needed to examine the user acceptance of electronic theses & dissertations implemented by UGM Library.Data Collection Method. This paper  used an acceptance analysis with a qualitative approach by interviewing three UGM students.Analysis Data. The paper applied  Stuart Hall's theory of encoding-decoding.Results and Discussions. The results showed that the informants were categorises into two  positions. One informant was in a dominant hegemonic position and the others were in  negotiated positions. The background of the study program, the level of education and experiences, might influence the differences in the acceptance and interpretation of electronic theses & dissertations.Conclusions. There are various perspectives of how users examine to the  electronic theses & dissertations at UGM Library

Peran Perpustakaan Umum Kota Depok pada era teknologi digital

Introduction. The purpose of this study is to identify the roles of digital technology in the Depok City Public Library. The main challenge of the digital community is the increasing digital divide and the weakening of the identity of local communities which can result in low social participation and involvement in community issues. This study focuses on the characteristics of the people of Depok City to assess the role of public libraries that have the potential to be public spaces and places for social and physical meetings in the digital era.Data Collection Methods. This was a qualitative research with  interviews involving librarians, library directors and  users.Data Analysis. The data was analyzed by involving the process of data reduction, interpretation, and conclusion. The research setting at the chosen was the Depok City Public Library, close to the Capital of Indonesia.Results and Discussion. The results showed that Depok City public library of has several roles in the field of education, information, culture and recreation. These roles can be increased by involving  technology  as a means of library promotion.Conclusion and recommendations. The space and infrastructure in the library can be used optimally for various activities in order to enhance the role of the library as a public space and places for social and physical meetings in the digital era

Bibliotherapy dalam menumbuhkan sikap optimis pasien

Introduction. One of the librarians’ role is to improve the feeling of  optimistic through bibliotheraphy on patients.  This paper focuses on bibliotherapy to improve patients’ optimistic attitude. This study aims to understand the benefits of bibliotheraphy from patients’ health perspectives.  Data Collection Method: This research used a quasi-experimental approach. Data collection was conducted through patients observation, in-depth interviews and literature study. Our study population was patients in several hospital as well as involving academic experts in the field of bibliotheraphy. Analysis Data: The data was analysed based opn qualitative approach. Results and Discussions: There were 5 implementation stages of bibliotherapy to the patients: (1) Patients were motivated by the librarian with the games  involving patients with positive advice (2) The librarian asked the patients to read the prepared material (3) The librarian gaves patients some time to reflect on their reading materials (4) The librarian discussed  with patients about the reading materials (5) the librarian evaluated by listening to the patients. Conclusion: Bibliotherapy can be useful for health improvement, particularly to improve optimistic attitude of patients in dealing with their disease

Clustering topic groups of documents using K-Means algorithm: Australian Embassy Jakarta media releases 2006-2016

Introduction. The Australian Embassy in Jakarta is storing a wide array of media release document. Analyzing particular and vital patterns of the documents collection is imperative as it will result in new insights and knowledge of significant topic groups of the documents.Methodology. K-Means was used algorithm as a non-hierarchical clustering method which partitioning data objects into clusters. The method works through minimizing data variation within cluster and maximizing data variation between clusters. Data Analysis.  Of the documents issued between 2006 and 2016, 839 documents were examined in order to determine term frequencies and to generate clusters. Evaluation was conducted by nominating an expert to validate the cluster result.Results and discussions. The result showed that there were 57 meaningful terms grouped into 3 clusters. “People to people links”, “economic cooperation”, and “human development” were chosen to represent topics of the Australian Embassy Jakarta media releases from 2006 to 2016.Conclusions. Text mining can be used to cluster topic groups of documents. It provides a more systematic clustering process as the text analysis is conducted through a number of stages with specifically set parameters. 

Dekonstruksi titik akses diseminasi informasi pada Radio Boekoe

Introduction. Radio Boekoe as a community that affected by the determination of information technology, adapts through the deconstruction process of information dissemination access points by utilizing hybrid media. This study aims to discuss the deconstruction process of information dissemination access points on Radio Boekoe.Research methods. This research used a qualitative method with case study approach. The process of collecting data involved observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The informants are the founder, manager and volunteer of Radio Boekoe.Data Analysis. The research data was analyzed with the stages of reduction, display, and drawing conclusions.Results and Discussion. The deconstruction process of information access points on Radio Boekoe occurred through the use of hybrid media. The deconstruction process of the information access point was expanded to the process of adding information access capacity in the form of Bale Black Box co-working space.Conclusions. The process of deconstruction of information access points on Radio Boekoe occurs through the shifting of local access points in the form of the Gelaran Iboekoe to global hybrid media-based access in the form of internet radio. Furthermore, it is recommended to conduct a research to examine the effectiveness of using hybrid media to expand information access points

Peran mediasi customer-employee rapport pada pengaruh strategi emotional labor pustakawan terhadap kepuasan pelayanan pengguna perpustakaan

Introduction. Strategies of Deep Acting and Surface Acting using Emotional Labor in library services have been conducted. The study aims to examine the effect of Emotional Labor on library user satisfaction mediated by Customer-Employee Rapport.Method. There were 86 participants involved in this experimental study. They were undergraduate students in Makassar who were asked to watch the video related to library services by using Deep Acting or Surface Acting strategies.Data Analysis. Hypothesis were examined by using Hayes Process analysis to understand the mediation model.Results and Discussions. Emotional Labor strategy was found to have a relationship to  customer satisfaction through Customer-Employee Rapport mediation. Emotional labor strategy was found to have directly affected customer satisfaction and Customer-Employee Rapport. The librarians  applied Deep Acting strategy to enhance customer satisfaction and customer-employee rapport was found to be more effective compared to Surface Acting. The librarians’ emotional expression in deep acting enables them to transform the positive emotion between librarians and users, thus, it improves good relationships and customer satisfaction.Conclusion. The librarians’ emotional labor strategies effect on library user satisfaction with customer-employee rapport as the mediation variable. Future research should discuss another library experiment based on gender perspectives

Adaptasi pustakawan dalam menghadapi kemajuan teknologi

Introduction. Information technology has both positive and negative impacts on users and makes major changes in libraries. In digital era, people are free to create and access information, making it overload. This article aims to find out how libraries and librarians do when facing with rapidly advance technology.Data collection method. This paper used literature study related to technology development of libraries. This paper also applied  library observations, referring to relevant sources from various media, such as books, journals, and magazines.Analysis Data. Data analysis was conducted by classifying, analyzing, comparing, and interpreting data to obtain the conclusion.Results and Discussions. The results showed that one library will survive  as long as it has the ability to adapt with technology development. The adaptation needs an ability to accommodate dramatic changes and has an effort to improve its capabilities to face challenges.Conclusion. To survive, a library needs to enhance its performance and services based on the users’ need

Pengaruh sosial media terhadap user engagement pada akun facebook perpustakaan perguruan tinggi

Introduction. This research aims to determine the utilization of social media, especially Facebook in  academic libraries. It explores the impact of Facebook  content to user activity with the level of user engagement. This research is considered signifincat due to the fact that social media has not been used optimally by the libraries.Data collection methods. This research used a qualitative approach method with interviews by considering user engagement parameters in 4 categories: (1) Literature Exhibits (2) Engaging topic (3) Community Building (4) Library showcasing. This study also used data histories and  Facebook content. Using 5 state academic libraries, the data was gatheres by grouping the data of the user engagement  with the  followers’  response including activities of like, comment, shares from each account.Analysis Data. This research was analysed by using a content analysis.Results and discusions. Most libarires post the category of Library Showcasing, while most users respond to the category Enganging Topics. Facebook has effects of increasing user engagement . It is found that there is a mismatch between postings from admin staff and the follower responses.Conclusions.  Social media function in library is considered as an effective channel of communication, promotion, marketing as well as to improve user engagement. The decicion making related to library services by utilizing social media has not been conducted

Produktivitas pengarang dan pertumbuhan artikel bidang arkeologi dalam Jurnal Kapata Arkeologi tahun 2005-2017

Introduction. The productivity of scientific journals in Indonesia is still relatively low compared to other ASEAN countries. This study aims to determine author's productivity patterns as well as the growth trend of archaeological articles in the journal of Kapata Arkeologi published by Balai Arkeologi Maluku within the range from 2005 to 2017. Data Collection Method. The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative, to examine the author's contribution in generating field of Archeology, understand the pattern of author's productivity by testing against the enactment of Lotka's Law and provide an overview of patterns of development publications by Kapata Archeologi.Analysis Data. The author's productivity analysis used Lotka's Law and statistical testing by  Kolmogrov-Seminorv.Results and Discussions. The  productivity pattern showed that authors published one article was 32.58%, 2 articles were 17.44% - meaning that more than a quarter of the author  produced 1 article. The author who contributed most in Kapata Arkeologi was Wuri Handoko who has published 29 articles. Among other sub fields, Archaeological History articles are the most widely published article with a total of 76 articles.Conclusions. The productivity level of Kapata Archeology journal authors is very high.  Further bibliometric analysis related to the collaboration of authors is needed

Pengaruh pemutaran musik instrumental terhadap kenyamanan membaca pemustaka di Perpustakaan Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi

Introduction. Library of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) plays an instrumental music on Tuesdays and Fridays morning to create nicer atmosphere of  reading activities. The paper aims to describe the effects of instrumental music toward users’ reading comfort.Data Collection Method. This research used a descriptive quatitative approach with Likert scale in the surveys. The 54 respondents were gathered by using random sampling.Analysis Data. The data was analyzed by statistical descriptive to show user’s’ perceiveness toward playback of instrumental music (variable Y) and user’s’ reading comfort. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 20  .Results and Discussions. The user’s’ perceiveness toward the playback of instrumental music and the reading comfort were 1.816 and 1.972 and considered “good”. The playback of instrumental music showed a positive effect toward users’ reading comfort with R Square 16.3 %, and thus H1 was accepted.Conclusions. The playback of instrumental music in library has positive effect toward users’ reading comfort. Librarians should vary the music playlists
