    Un nuevo esquema de agrupación para redes sensoras inalámbricas de radio cognitivas heterogéneas

    Introduction: This article is the product of the research “Learning-based Spectrum Analysis and Prediction in Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks”, developed at Sejong University in the year 2019. Problem: Most of the clustering schemes for distributed cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor networks consider homogeneous cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensors. Many clustering schemes for such homogeneouscognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor networks waste resources and suffer from energy inefficiency because of the unnecessary overheads. Objective: The objective of the research is to propose a node clustering scheme that conserves energy and prolongs network lifetime. Methodology: A heterogeneous cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor network in which only a few nodes have a cognitive radio module and the other nodes are normal sensor nodes. Along with the hardware cost, theproposed scheme is efficient in energy consumption. Results: We simulated the proposed scheme and compared it with the homogeneous cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor networks. The results show that the proposed scheme is efficient in terms of energyconsumption. Conclusion: The proposed node clustering scheme performs better in terms of network energy conservation and network partition. Originality: There are heterogeneous node clustering schemes in the literature for cooperative spectrum sensing and energy efficiency, but to the best of our knowledge, there is no study that proposes a non-cognitiveradio-enabled sensor clustering for energy conservation along with cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensors. Limitations: The deployment of the proposed special device for cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensors is complicated and requires special hardware with better battery powered cognitive sensor nodes

    NS-2 based simulation framework for cognitive radio sensor networks

    In this paper, we propose a simulation model for cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs) which is an attempt to combine the useful properties of wireless sensor networks and cognitive radio networks. The existing simulation models for cognitive radios cannot be extended for this purpose as they do not consider the strict energy constraint in wireless sensor networks. Our proposed model considers the limited energy available for wireless sensor nodes that constrain the spectrum sensing process—an unavoidable operation in cognitive radios. Our model has been thoroughly tested by performing experiments in different scenarios of CRSNs. The results generated by the model have been found accurate which can be considered for realization of CRSNs

    International audienceSoftware Defined Radio and Cognitive Radio applied to Wireless Sensor Networks and Body Area Networks represent an intriguing and really recent paradigm, which represents an objective of study of several researchers. In order to make this technology effective, it is necessary to consider an analytical model of communication capacity, energy consumption and congestion, to effectively exploit the Software Defined Radio and Cognitive Radio in this type of systems. This chapter discusses on the analytical modeling to make this kind of technologies effective for wireless networks, by focusing on Cognitive Wireless Sensor Networks and Cognitive Wireless Body Area Networks. Moreover, we consider some routing approaches proposed for Cognitive Wireless Sensor Networks and Cognitive Wireless Body Area Networks, and evaluated by means of simulation. Finally, we address additional issues that this type of networks presents by comparing them with “traditional” routing protocols

    On the Construction of Radio Environment Maps for Cognitive Radio Networks

    The Radio Environment Map (REM) provides an effective approach to Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs). Previous results on REM construction show that there exists a tradeoff between the number of measurements (sensors) and REM accuracy. In this paper, we analyze this tradeoff and determine that the REM error is a decreasing and convex function of the number of measurements (sensors). The concept of geographic entropy is introduced to quantify this relationship. And the influence of sensor deployment on REM accuracy is examined using information theory techniques.
