Solomon Islands has recently developed substantial policy aiming to support inshore fisheries management, conservation, climate change adaptation and ecosystem approaches to resource management. A large body of experience in community based approaches to management has developed but “upscaling” and particularly the implementation of nation-wide approaches has received little attention so far. With the emerging challenges posed by climate change and the need for ecosystem wide and integrated approaches attracting serious donor attention, a national debate on the most effective approaches to implementation is urgently needed. VENUE MANAGERS AND MEETING PLANNERS: A COMBINED PERSPECTIVE OF THEIR ROLES, RELATIONSHIPS, AND ATTRIBUTES NECESSARY FOR HOSTING A SUCCESSFUL MEETING

The purpose of this research was to gain the perspectives of venue managers and meeting planners on their roles in the meetings industry, their relationship with each other and attributes needed to host a successful meeting. An online survey was conducted involving these two stakeholders to define their roles, assess the strength of their relationship and identify attributes based on their experience with working together and hosting meetings. Results showed that venue managers and meeting planners are essential to the hosting of successful meetings. It also indicated that venue managers are willing to build and maintain stronger relationships with meeting planners and brought to light some attributes such as communication skills, responsiveness and self-competence, which when improved upon, could help achieve this. The study also presents a theoretical model of how stakeholder co-creation activities can drive more successful meetings

More than a thought experiment : conceptualizing and implementing an Urban Living Lab

In the context of growing urbanization,1 cities are focal points of social interactions. Embedded in bi-directional feedback loops with wider regional environments and the global ecosystem, cities present, simultaneously, ideal reference points and vital arenas for generating debates about and testing pathways toward emerging sustainable models of livability and a redefined prosperity. The latter no longer limited to mainstream economic definitions but encompassing a more holistic societal prosperity, nurtured by shared experiences, enhanced knowledge generation and exchange, eclectic encounters and ample space for creative expression. The paper presents the conceptual development of an Urban Living Lab (ULL). It employs existing literature on ULL to enable a basic frame of reference, draws on the concept of contextual logic and a philosophical understanding of flow to inform processes for rolling out such a multi-stakeholder engagement experiment. The paper attempts to conceptualize an approach that employs community participation to define contours of a socially inclusive and livable society. Control Mechanisms for Assessing the Quality of Handmade and Artistic Products in e-Marketplace Platforms

Selling handmade and artistic goods online is challenging since buyers need to be able to assess product quality before purchase. This study aims to explore how control mechanisms aid the assessment of the product quality of handmade and artistic goods. We do so by extracting control mechanisms for e-marketplace platforms from existing literature and discussing to what extent these are suitable for handmade and artistic goods. We found that existing literature mainly focuses on reputation systems. We reshaped the findings by conducting desk research to identify how control mechanisms are applied in a number of e-marketplaces. Our results show that in e-marketplaces that focus on selling handmade artistic products, a reputation system is not sufficient to ensure product quality in an online environment. Thus, it is critical to apply other control mechanisms which are more effective in increasing the trustworthiness of the seller of artistic and handmade goods. Last, we also suggest alternative control mechanisms to be explored in future research

Evaluating the Inclusiveness of Artificial Intelligence Software in Enhancing Project Management Efficiency -- A Review

The rise of advanced technology in project management (PM) highlights a crucial need for inclusiveness. This work examines the enhancement of both inclusivity and efficiency in PM through technological integration, focusing on defining and measuring inclusiveness. This approach illuminates how inclusivity-centered technology can significantly elevate project outcomes. The research navigates through the challenges of achieving inclusivity, mainly biases in learning databases and the design process of these technologies, assessment of transformative potential of these technologies, particularly in automating tasks like data collection and analysis, thus enabling managers to prioritize human-centric aspects of projects. However, the integration of such technology transcends efficiency, indicating a paradigm shift in understanding their societal roles. This shift necessitates a new approach in the development of these systems to prevent perpetuating social inequalities. We proposed a methodology involving criteria development for evaluating the inclusiveness and effectiveness of these technologies. This methodical approach is vital to comprehensively address the challenges and limitations inherent in these systems. Emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, the study advocates for a balance between technological advancement and ethical considerations, calling for a holistic understanding and regulation. In conclusion, the paper underscores that while these technologies can significantly improve outcomes, their mindful integration, ensuring inclusivity, is paramount. This exploration into the ethical and practical aspects of technology in PM contributes to a more informed and balanced approach within the field

The Influencing Path of Public Engaging Intention in the Value Co-Creation of E-Gov Services：An Empirical Investigation

The wide acceptability of ICTs and social media enriches the delivery platform of e-gov services (EGS). EGS is an important interaction and collaboration channel between the government and the public. The public can conveniently and timely explore problems, provide ideas, and design solutions to improve EGS. The roles of the public changed to active, informed partners or co- creators of EGS innovation and problem solving. This study builds the influence factor model on public engaging intention of value co-creation for EGS based on technology acceptance theory, trust theory, and motivation theory to explore impact factors and impact paths. Path analysis interpreted how the public would accept and adopt value co-creation behavior for EGS. Relationship marketing practices for retention of corporate customers in hospitality contract catering

Customer retention is specific to the context of each firm, and this is rarely recognized in models for customer retention. This paper studies how customer retention in hospitality business-to-business contract catering depends on the relationship substance built up due to interaction between the parties. Relationship substance may be of a more or less embedded ind, which is explored here in the form of relationship satisfaction and organizational change in the buying firm. A conceptual model is developed and tested on a sample of business relationships in business-to-business contract catering. The results support the fundamental effect that relationship satisfaction improves customer retention. The research also finds that the purchase development of contract catering customers increases retention, in particular if the customer who purchases more is also satisfied. However, when the contract caterer has achieved change in the customer firm, customer is reduced. Evidently, these customers consider that they are done with the seller and move to other sellers, or reduce their purchases altogether

Factors driving enterprise adoption of blockchain technology

Amidst the rapidly evolving advancement of blockchain technology (BT), enterprises face notable challenges in leveraging its transformative potential, starting with a need to understand the technology and how it can be used for particular applications. Two challenges are that many BT trials have not been successful and large-scale implementations that have led to continued use are scarce. This research provides a comprehensive examination of factors that drive the successful adoption of BT for enterprise use cases. A dual-phased approach was employed. First, I introduce a taxonomy matrix correlating BT design characteristics with use case characteristics, offering a framework for BT design and benefits across different enterprise contexts. Second, I conducted case studies of five successful BT cases in large enterprises that led to the adoption in terms of continued use and contrasted them with one failure case. The data collection and analysis of the case studies encompassed technological, organizational, environmental, and inter-organizational variables that led to BT\u27s continued use. The cross-case analysis revealed that compatibility, relative advantage, and observability are primary technological factors contributing to continued use. Within the organizational dimension, organizational knowledge and internal characteristics emerged as crucial elements, while regulatory compliance came out to be a significant factor. Based on the cross-case analysis, I develop theoretical propositions about the factors that lead to the continued use of BT, which can be further validated and tested in future research
