Avid readers of Word Ways may remember that I attempted a computer search for 10-by-10 word squares a number of years ago. I had a vocabulary of 55,000 ten-letter word and phrases stored in the computer, about half dictionary words and the rest names and phrases I had devised from brainstorming and free association. For example, I\u27d pick a word like carpet and think of all the things that go with it like -bags, bugs, tack, roll, shop, - less, - like, etc. My best effort, a square containing eight words from Webster\u27s Second, appearing in the February 1977 Word Ways
Cactus: Issues for Sustainable Simulation Software
The Cactus Framework is an open-source, modular, portable programming
environment for the collaborative development and deployment of scientific
applications using high-performance computing. Its roots reach back to 1996 at
the National Center for Supercomputer Applications and the Albert Einstein
Institute in Germany, where its development jumpstarted. Since then, the Cactus
framework has witnessed major changes in hardware infrastructure as well as its
own community. This paper describes its endurance through these past changes
and, drawing upon lessons from its past, also discusses futureComment: submitted to the Workshop on Sustainable Software for Science:

For cooperation and assistance in the work reported here, we gratefully acknowledge Dr.
William Burgoyne, State of Alaska Division of Environmental Conservation and Mr. Delon
Brown, USDA, Alaska Crop and Livestock Reporting Service. We especially appreciate the efforts
of numerous pesticide manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and users who took the necessary
time to provide information essential for this compilation. Richard Maxwell, Agricultural Chemicals
Specialist, Cooperative Extension Service, Washington State University, provided difficult to
locate pesticide label information. The editors of Farm Chemicals Handbook, 1980, provided the
list of preferred names as well as information regarding general application of pesticide products.Acknowledgments -- Introduction -- Reference -- Pesticide Use in Alaska, 197
