Toward Dynamic Manipulation of Flexible Objects by High-Speed Robot System: From Static to Dynamic

    Get PDF
This chapter explains dynamic manipulation of flexible objects, where the target objects to be manipulated include rope, ribbon, cloth, pizza dough, and so on. Previously, flexible object manipulation has been performed in a static or quasi-static state. Therefore, the manipulation time becomes long, and the efficiency of the manipulation is not considered to be sufficient. In order to solve these problems, we propose a novel control strategy and motion planning for achieving flexible object manipulation at high speed. The proposed strategy simplifies the flexible object dynamics. Moreover, we implemented a high-speed vision system and high-speed image processing to improve the success rate by manipulating the robot trajectory. By using this strategy, motion planning, and high-speed visual feedback, we demonstrated several tasks, including dynamic manipulation and knotting of a rope, generating a ribbon shape, dynamic folding of cloth, rope insertion, and pizza dough rotation, and we show experimental results obtained by using the high-speed robot system

Exploring Text Messages by Using Emojis on Indonesian Whatsapp

WhatsApp is a free messaging and calling application that can be downloaded to mobile phones all over the world that supports the feature. It is straightforward, trustworthy, and secure. WhatsApp enables us to exchange text, voice, and audio-visual (video) messages. However, text message recipients often fail to understand the intended meaning of a text message because the text messages are not provided with intonation and direct expression, resulting in the recipient’s difficulty interpreting the message's intended meaning. This study aimed to find out the functions of emojis in WhatsApp text messages. Interpretative qualitative was used as the research methodology in this study. The data source used is the results of screenshots of chat activities on the WhatsApp application. The study came up with the findings that the primary function of emojis in WhatsApp text messages is to show and emphasize emotion, expression, and feeling like happiness, sadness, apology, embarrassment, support, anger, mockery, gratitude, criticism, humorous, etc. that cannot be spoken verbally or conveyed/shown directly

Optimization of Fuzzy Social Force Model Adaptive Parameter using Genetic Algorithm for Mobile Robot Navigation Control

The Social Force Model (SFM) is a popular navigation technique for mobile robots that is primarily used to simulate pedestrian movement. The SFM method's drawback is that several parameter values, such as gain, k, and impact range, σ, must be determined manually. The reaction of the SFM is frequently inappropriate for certain environmental circumstances as a result of this manual determination. In this paper, we propose employing the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS), whose rules are optimized using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to manage the value of the gain, k, parameter adaptive. The relative distance, d, and relative angle, α, concerning the robot's obstacle are the inputs for the FIS. The test results using a 3-D realistic CoppeliaSim demonstrated that the learning outcomes of FIS rules could provide adaptive parameter values suitable for each environmental circumstance, allowing the robot to travel smoothly is represented using the robot’s heading deviation which decreasing by and reaching the goal 1.6 sec faster from the starting point to the goal, compared to the SFM with the fixed parameter value. So that the proposed method is more effective and promising when deploying on the real robot implementation
