Meaningful engagement: computer-based interactive media art in public space.

Interactive technologies, including electronic devices are increasingly being utilized as a medium for artistic expression and have been placed in freely accessible public environments with mixed results. When audiences encounter computer-based interactive media arts in a public space they are drawn by various interactivities, to play and experiment with them. However, whether the audience is able to gain a meaningful experience through those physical interactivities has remained an issue of both theoretical and practical debate. This paper will focus on these aspects, most specifically through the study of interactive art in freely accessible public space. The author proposes four new conceptual/analytical tools for examining the subject. It is anticipated that this paper will provide possible alternative strategies for both artists and art researchers in this field with a purpose to enhance intellectual engagement with their audiences, so as to succeed in leading interactors to obtain meaningful experience and rewards

This article includes the results of a scientific study, the purpose of which has been to study the motivational component of the design process in teenagers. In this regard, we considered the motivational component of the teenager's desire to design activities in the field of fine arts. We offered fine arts as an effective mean of developing this component, the effectiveness of which has been proved in the course of experimental work, organized in three consecutive stages. To implement the experimental work, we used observation, testing, diagnostic techniques and other pedagogical methods. We consistently analyzed the results of the experimental and control groups after the formative stage of the experiment, which revealed a positive qualitative and quantitative dynamics of the indicators studied. The qualitative dynamics is manifested in the following: increased emotional responsiveness to works of art and interest in the project activities, illustrations of works, artistic component of literary works, as well as interest in participating in the scientific and practical conferences and competitions not only in fine arts, but also in other subjects. In addition, it is noted the teenager's activity in the after-hour activity on the creation and implementation of new school projects: charitable action, creative competition, school newspaper, master class, etc. It is concluded that the fine arts contribute to the teenager's motivation development to design.Key words: motivation, readiness for design activity, teenagers, fine arts

At the present stage, the problem of formation of artistic and professional orientation of adolescents is topical, and its solution requires the development of a new methodological and substantive base. In this regard, we have studied the concept "artistic and professional orientation", which consists in the fact, that this process is an interconnected system of motivational, behavioral, activity and cognitive components. As an effective mean for the formation of artistic and professional orientation of adolescents in the conditions of additional education, it is justified to use artistic and project activities, which have a high pedagogical potential. This activity is characterized by such features as integrity, stepping and subjectivity. It involves the use of a wide range of teaching methods; corresponds to the adolescent age of subjects of education; contributes to the provision of public and personal significance, and practical implementation of the results of adolescents”™ activities. Motivation is the basis for the formation of artistic and professional orientation in adolescents. The formation of positive motivation for the artistic and professional orientation of adolescents is facilitated by the use of a set of active methods and forms of training, corresponding to the technology of artistic and project activity. All of this is taken into account in the author's educational program "The basic concepts of the professions of decorator and designer". It has been implemented during the forming stage of the pedagogical experiment. The effectiveness of the study was confirmed by the results of diagnosing the level of formedness of motivational component of the artistic and professional orientation of adolescents in the experimental group, using the methods of observation, questioning, testing, and the method of expert assessments
