The aim of this work is to create an application to download and play podcasts. I focused mainly on the simplicity of the application design and creating a pleasant user environment. The application is programmed in Swift and uses modern elements of graphic application interface in iOS. I was able to test the application on users and optimize its hardware requirements. I managed to successfully optimize hardware requirements of the application and expand its use to more Apple devices. The benefit of this work is new knowledge of application development, but also respect for human interface guidelines. Since the app uses modern language and brings modern means of implementation, its main benefit is that it shows the direction the application development is headed.

    Skywalking GEMS and UDF

The two large colour mosaics of the GEMS and UDF projects, both obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope and ACS, consist of large amounts of data. We present two web application pages (the GEMS and UDF "Skywalker") that allow to pan around in these mosaics with downloading only small parts at a time.Comment: 1 pag

CrocoPat 2.1 Introduction and Reference Manual

CrocoPat is an efficient, powerful and easy-to-use tool for manipulating relations of arbitrary arity, including directed graphs. This manual provides an introduction to and a reference for CrocoPat and its programming language RML. It includes several application examples, in particular from the analysis of structural models of software systems.Comment: 19 pages + cover, 2 eps figures, uses llncs.cls and cs_techrpt_cover.sty, for downloading the source code, binaries, and RML examples, see http://www.software-systemtechnik.de/CrocoPat

Before-Commit Client State Management Services for AJAX Applications

Heavily script-based browser applications change the manner in which users interact with Web browsers. Instead of downloading a succession of HTML pages, users download a single application and use that application for a long period of time. The application is not a set of HTML pages, but rather a single page that can possible modify its own presentation based on data exchanged with a server. In such an environment, it is necessary to provide some means for the client to manage its own state. We describe the initial results of our work in providing client-side state management services for these script-based applications. We focus on browser-based services that can help the user before any data is committed on the server. Our services include state checkpointing, property binding, operation logging, operational replay, ATOM/RSS data updates, and application-controlled persistence

In-situ Model Downloading to Realize Versatile Edge AI in 6G Mobile Networks

The sixth-generation (6G) mobile networks are expected to feature the ubiquitous deployment of machine learning and AI algorithms at the network edge. With rapid advancements in edge AI, the time has come to realize intelligence downloading onto edge devices (e.g., smartphones and sensors). To materialize this version, we propose a novel technology in this article, called in-situ model downloading, that aims to achieve transparent and real-time replacement of on-device AI models by downloading from an AI library in the network. Its distinctive feature is the adaptation of downloading to time-varying situations (e.g., application, location, and time), devices' heterogeneous storage-and-computing capacities, and channel states. A key component of the presented framework is a set of techniques that dynamically compress a downloaded model at the depth-level, parameter-level, or bit-level to support adaptive model downloading. We further propose a virtualized 6G network architecture customized for deploying in-situ model downloading with the key feature of a three-tier (edge, local, and central) AI library. Furthermore, experiments are conducted to quantify 6G connectivity requirements and research opportunities pertaining to the proposed technology are discussed.Comment: The paper has been submitted to IEEE for possible publicatio

What Affects Mobile Application Downloads? The Role of In-Store Information

    Get PDF
Given the increasing importance of mobile applications in people’s daily life and the unique characteristics of mobile environment, surprisingly little research has been conducted to investigate consumers’ downloading behavior in mobile application stores. In this study, by combining predictors of product performance with customer value framework, we consider both text and non-text information in examining the effect of in-store information on application downloads. We apply latent semantic analysis technique to find out the meaningful, valuable information embedded in customer review and product description for five types of applications. We also find that for different types of applications, customers value information at various levels when they make downloading decisions. This study makes contributions by revealing the role of in-store information in mobile application downloads and providing application developers with useful guidance to improve information management in mobile application stores
