The main purpose of this study is to present a new Business Intelligence Maturity Model according to the prior models and their available components to review the level of Business Intelligence maturity in organizations. The business maturity helps all organizations to get safe and effective operations without extra troubles and, executive expenses and trial & error through reporting and data analyzing. Today we can strongly claim that applying the business intelligence solution in an organization makes it more powerful and discriminates it from the others by the increase in competitiveness. This solution causes organizations to use competitive advantages and pioneer through available information. This is a practical research in which we use a survey descriptive method and matter. The result of the study is to create a new model in order to study the level of business intelligence maturity in the banking industry which has maturity levels including initial, immature, controlled, managed and mature, and effective infrastructures on BI system which contains technology, organizational culture, and rules

An extension of the technology acceptance model for business intelligence systems: project management maturity perspective

Business intelligence systems (BISs) refer to wide range of technologies and applications useful for retrieving and analyzing the large amount of information with the goal to generate knowledge useful for making effective business decision. In order to investigate adoption of BISs in companies, we propose a model based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) that is expanded by variables representing the concept of a project management maturity (PMM). The survey on the sample of USA companies has been conducted with the chief information officer (CIO) as the main informant. Structural equations model has been developed in order to test the research model. Results indicate that TAM expanded with the notion of PMM is useful in increasing understanding of BISs adoption in companies

The purpose of this research is to provide a basis for choosing the approach to implementing business intelligence systems based on the maturity of the organization. This research not only recommends considering the level of business intelligence maturity while planning for the implementation, but also recommends the use of IT governance levers in order to increase the level of efficient usage of such systems. In this research, while analyzing the subject by experts in the Delphi Fuzzy method, these ideas have been reviewed and verified in nearly 109 organizations responding to the questionnaires. The result of this research is a fuzzy inference engine that suggest the best execution package required, by entering data on the size and maturity of the organization. Packages containing the appropriate implementation methodology, products at that maturity level and, consequently, IT governance processes and requirements to that level of maturity.

Are Malaysian companies ready for the big data economy? A business intelligence model approach

The next big phenomenon within the management accounting practices would be the big data economy. The phenomenon concerns the production of a large stream of data from diverse sources, analyzing these big data so as to provide important insights for better decision making. This paper attempts to evaluate the readiness of Malaysian companies to take advantage of big data by using the Enterprise Business Intelligence Maturity Model (EBIMM) as the evaluation tool.Data were collected from 132 Malaysian large scale enterprises using the EBIMM questionnaire. The results indicated that Malaysian companies are relatively ready for the big data economy.Up to 82% of the organizations surveyed attained the Defined level of maturity and had a decent level of capabilities and competencies to capture the benefits of big data analytics. However, none of the organizations reached the Optimizing level indicating that more investments in technology, talents and culture are required to enable Malaysia to become the regional hub for big data analytics

A MARKET ANALYSIS OF VIRTUAL POWER PLANTS AND SOME IDEAS FOR POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES

Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) aggregate a group of small/medium distributed supply-side energy resources (DERs), such as PV, wind, electric generators, and even demand side response, and control this potential net supply, such that they act as a single power plant for grid operations and energy trading. VPPs are enabled by the advancement of technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), and cloud computing amongst others. The recent growth of VPP ventures particularly in Europe is expected to multiply the market size over the next few years and result in a significant disruption of the existing energy market structure, especially with the continuous growth of DERs. This paper explores the maturity of the different technologies enabling VPPs, and some of the business models currently adopted in different countries. By analyzing some of these successful VPPs, and the different policies that impact their operation in different regions, new business opportunities are then identified and investigated as potentially viable business ventures for future analysis and further development

Unleashing the Effectiveness of Process-oriented Information Systems: Problem Analysis, Critical Success Factors, Implications

Process-oriented information systems (IS) aim at the computerized support of business processes. So far, contemporary IS have often fail to meet this goal. To better understand this drawback, to systematically identify its rationales, and to derive critical success factors for business process support, we conducted three empirical studies: an exploratory case study in the automotive domain, an online survey among 79 IT professionals, and another online survey among 70 business process management (BPM) experts. This paper summarizes the findings of these studies, puts them in relation with each other, and uses them to show that "process-orientation" is scarce and "process-awareness" is needed in IS engineering

Cloud computing and big data have risen to become the most popular technologies of the modern world. Apparently, the reason behind their immense popularity is their wide range of applicability as far as the areas of interest are concerned. Education and research remain one of the most obvious and befitting application areas. This research paper introduces a big data analytics tool, PABED Project Analyzing Big Education Data, for the education sector that makes use of cloud-based technologies. This tool is implemented using Google BigQuery and R programming language and allows comparison of undergraduate enrollment data for different academic years. Although, there are many proposed applications of big data in education, there is a lack of tools that can actualize the concept into practice. PABED is an effort in this direction. The implementation and testing details of the project have been described in this paper. This tool validates the use of cloud computing and big data technologies in education and shall head start development of more sophisticated educational intelligence tools
