    Get PDF
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to fill the gap in the discussion of the ways in which firm-created and user-generated social media brand communication impacts consumer-based brand equity metrics through Facebook. Design/methodology/approach: We evaluated 302 data sets that were generated through a standardized online-survey to investigate the impact of firm-created and user-generated social media brand communication on brand awareness/associations, perceived quality, and brand loyalty across 60 brands within three different industries: non-alcoholic beverages, clothing, and mobile network providers. We applied structural equation modeling techniques (SEM) to investigate the effects of social media brand communication on consumers’ perception of brand equity metrics, as well as in an examination of industry-specific differences. Findings: The results of our empirical studies showed that both firm-created and user-generated social media brand communication influence brand awareness/associations; whereas, user-generated social media brand communication had a positive impact on brand loyalty and perceived brand quality. Additionally, there are significant differences between the industries being investigated. Originality/value: This article is pioneering in that it exposes the effects of two different types of social media brand communication (i.e., firm-created and user-generated social media communication) on consumer-based brand equity metrics, a topic of relevance for both marketers and scholars in the era of social media. Additionally, it differentiates the effects of social media brand communication across industries, which indicate that practitioners should implement social media strategies according to industry specifics to lever consumer-based brand equity metrics

This article has two objectives: (1) to draw an international comparison regarding the acceptance of mobile travel services in three countries with different profiles when it comes to travelling and mobile telecommunications, and (2) to extend relevant literature on mobile applications, more specifically travel services, by including context-related concepts, taking moderating factors like location, mobility of users, physical, and social context into account. Based on surveys that were carried out in 2009, structural equation modelling is used to identify differences in patterns in the use of mobile travel services and in the role of context-related variables. the conclusion of this article is that context-related factors, that is, mobility and (physical and social) context, have an impact on the relationship between the core concepts of technology Acceptance model (TAM) and Diffusion of Innovation (DoI) research. many studies on the acceptance and use of mobile services indicate that a deep understanding is needed of individual, context-related, and technological characteristics and the way they interact. this is also highly relevant to the travel industry, which wants to utilize the opportunities provided by mobile technology

Mobile devices allow constant access to the World Wide Web without time and location barriers and present new challenges for marketers and an array of research questions for marketing researchers. The topic of mobile advertising is of special interest for companies as it enables communication with customers in unprecedented ways. As mobile technologies are being increasingly adopted on a worldwide basis, international m-advertising becomes an issue of growing importance. This paper therefore presents first cross-cultural evidence of individuals’ perceptions of mobile advertising. The analysis is based on a survey of business students in two respective markets, Japan and Austria. Findings of this study show that people are still skeptical about mobile advertising. However, there are slight differences in perceptions between Japan and Austria. Japanese respondents perceive madvertising as more entertaining and valuable. Despite the fact that they are more frequently exposed to mobile advertising messages, they also show a more positive attitude toward it. Implications for practitioners as well as for future research are suggested based on these findings

It seems that almost every user who owns a mobile device receives mobile advertisements from various service providers. However, most consumers hold negative attitude toward mobile advertising. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the factors which influence consumers’ adoption of mobile advertising. Based on literature review from previous research, a research model was proposed. This research model was empirically evaluated using survey data collected from 302 receivers of mobile advertising. According to the analytical results of our study, consumers’ attitude toward mobile advertising and incentives explain about 80% of consumers’ intention to receive mobile advertisements. Besides, entertainment, credibility, personalization and irritation all have direct effects on consumers’ toward mobile advertising, and the effect from entertainment is quite strong. Based on the theory of reasoned action, belief factors for mobile recommender systems are identified in three dimensions: functional, contextual, and social. Hypotheses explaining different impacts of cultural values on the factors affecting attitudes were also proposed. The research model was tested based on data collected in China, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Findings indicate that functional and social factors have significant impacts on user attitudes towards mobile recommender systems. The relationships between belief factors and attitudes are moderated by two cultural values: collectivism and uncertainty avoidance. The theoretical and practical implications of applying theory of reasoned action and innovation diffusion theory to explain the adoption of new technologies in societies with different cultures are also discussed.National Research Foundation of Korea Grant funded by the Korean governmen

Nowadays, what can be identified as info-communication age, the mobile phone became a determinant technical device in life. I studied the mobile device selection criteria and usage habits of university students with a non-representative research. The results show that the price, look and shape of the device are more important than the available applications or brand. Technical parameters have more importance, like good battery and durability. Mobile phones have determinant importance for the young, and they rather use it more in public situations or places, than in private ones. The time-management applications are used more often than other information based ones. They use clock, alarm clock and calendar most often, while sound recorder and Internet are used most rarely.marketing, technology, economic sociology

Big data mining and analysis technology greatly influence the development of the advertising industry. In order to capture large information on consumers\u27 online behaviour, cookie files and Hadoop are widely adopted by advertisers to reach targeted consumers, which leads to online behavioural advertising. Based on an empirical study, this research mainly analyzes the factors influencing customers\u27 acceptance intention towards OBA from developing a conceptual framework. By collecting data through questionnaires and using SPSS and AMOS for data analysis, the result indicates that the factors of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions have a positive relationship with customer acceptance intention. Moreover, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating conditions have a positive relationship with attitudes towards OBA. However, attitudes do not positively impact customer acceptance intention and social influence has no significant relationship with attitudes, which could attribute to privacy concern and the rising of personality consciousness respectively. The result of this study is of great significance to the way of improving advertising effectiveness
