On the Identification of Agents in the Design of Production Control Systems

    No full text
This paper describes a methodology that is being developed for designing and building agent-based systems for the domain of production control. In particular, this paper deals with the steps that are involved in identifying the agents and in specifying their responsibilities. The methodology aims to be usable by engineers who have a background in production control but who have no prior experience in agent technology. For this reason, the methodology needs to be very prescriptive with respect to the agent-related aspects of design

Semantic aspect on methodology phase is a significant  issue  to  develop  multi-agent  system in  the  current days.   There are a lot of methodologies to develop multi-agent system, but the current problem is how to choose the best methodology phase to develop current multi-agent system. The development of multi-agent system currently is to be more complex and difficult. Many aspects that contains on multi-agent system, the one of the famous issue now is about semantic aspect on multi-agent system. The old methodology phases are not suitable to develop current multi-agent system. Nowadays, many researchers start to improve and customize the obsolete methodology to adjust with the current needed. There are two research steps contains in this paper, the first step is to review and criticize previous methodologies especially about MOMA (Methodology for Developing Ontology-Based Multi-Agent System) was introduced in 2013. The second step is the main contribution of this paper is to improve previous methodology phases with the new methodology phases named OmMas (The Ontology-Based Methodology phases to Develop Multi-Agent System), and using semantic aspect as the  main focus of this methodology. The result of this research is improved ontology- based methodology phases as a representation of semantic aspect on the ontology development process.

Enterprise-wide, web-based systems can be assisted in their construction by the use of agents and an agent-oriented methodology. As part of an extensive research programme to create such an AO methodology by combining the benefits of method engineering and existing object-oriented frameworks (notably the OPF), we have analysed here contributions to the OPF repository of process components from the MASE agent-oriented methodology, identifying three new Tasks, one additional Technique and two new Work Products

Comparing Agent Software Development Methodologies Using the Waterfall Model

    Get PDF
This paper explores three widely published agent-based software development methodologies, Multiagent Systems Engineering Methodology (MaSE), Prometheus, and Tropos, using the traditional Waterfall model of software engineering as a baseline. Differences between the methodologies are examined and gaps between the agent-based methodologies and the Waterfall approach are identified

The purpose of this research work is to identify the human and social development in rural areas where electric energy plays an important role in the way people make decisions, and its role in the life quality improvement, which is measured as the satisfaction of Maslow’s basic needs. The described simulation model, based on agents (ABM), jointly with the results of performed simulations allow characterizing and concluding with regard to the impact of the incorporation of electric energy in the development of a rural region. The study exhibits that communities have the capability to adapt and generate an increase in the quality of life by means of the use of electric power in the day-to-day life, allowing to show that the incorporation of electric energy in the area is a tool that enables the development of the region

Design choices for agent-based control of AGVs in the dough making process

    Get PDF
In this paper we consider a multi-agent system (MAS) for the logistics control of Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) that are used in the dough making process at an industrial bakery. Here, logistics control refers to constructing robust schedules for all transportation jobs. The paper discusses how alternative MAS designs can be developed and compared using cost, frequency of messages between agents, and computation time for evaluating control rules as performance indicators. Qualitative design guidelines turn out to be insufficient to select the best agent architecture. Therefore, we also use simulation to support decision making, where we use real-life data from the bakery to evaluate several alternative designs. We find that architectures in which line agents initiate allocation of transportation jobs, and AGV agents schedule multiple jobs in advance, perform best. We conclude by discussing the benefits of our MAS systems design approach for real-life applications

Agent-based Market Research Learning Environment for New Entrepreneurs

    Get PDF
Due to the importance of creating alternative mechanisms to generate know-how on potential markets for new entrepreneurs this paper proposes an agent-based learning environment to help them learning market research strategies within new businesses. An instructor agent, serving as a learning assistant within the MAS environment guides new entrepreneurs to identify their most adequate market niche. The integration of MAS-CommonKADS and GAIA methodologies is used along with AUML diagrams in order to design and develop this agentbased learning environment, called MaREMAS. The paper thus describes all the stages concerning MaREMAS construction focusing on the conceptualization, analysis, design, prototype development, and validation. The tests developed in the MaREMAS learning environment were satisfactory, however, it is proposed as future work to provide the system a more robust statistical module that allows a better analysis of the research variables and hence be able to generate more useful suggestions to the entrepreneur. Keywords: Agent-based learning environments, market research strategies, entrepreneurship, intelligent learning systems, learning helpers modelin
