Performance analysis of a Master/Slave switched Ethernet for military embedded applications
Current military communication network is a generation
old and is no longer effective in meeting the emerging
requirements imposed by the next generation military embedded applications. A new communication network based upon Full Duplex Switched Ethernet is proposed in this paper to overcome these limitations. To allow existing military subsystems to be easily supported by a Switched Ethernet network, our proposal consists in keeping their current centralized communication scheme by using an optimized master/slave transmission control on Switched Ethernet thanks to the Flexible Time Triggered (FTT) paradigm. Our main objective is to assess the performance
of such a proposal and estimate the quality of service we
can expect in terms of latency. Using the Network Calculus formalism, schedulability analysis are determined. These analysis are illustrated in the case of a realistic military embedded application extracted from a real military aircraft network, to highlight the proposal's ability to support the required time constrained communications
Optimal Sensor Collaboration for Parameter Tracking Using Energy Harvesting Sensors
In this paper, we design an optimal sensor collaboration strategy among
neighboring nodes while tracking a time-varying parameter using wireless sensor
networks in the presence of imperfect communication channels. The sensor
network is assumed to be self-powered, where sensors are equipped with energy
harvesters that replenish energy from the environment. In order to minimize the
mean square estimation error of parameter tracking, we propose an online sensor
collaboration policy subject to real-time energy harvesting constraints. The
proposed energy allocation strategy is computationally light and only relies on
the second-order statistics of the system parameters. For this, we first
consider an offline non-convex optimization problem, which is solved exactly
using semidefinite programming. Based on the offline solution, we design an
online power allocation policy that requires minimal online computation and
satisfies the dynamics of energy flow at each sensor. We prove that the
proposed online policy is asymptotically equivalent to the optimal offline
solution and show its convergence rate and robustness. We empirically show that
the estimation performance of the proposed online scheme is better than that of
the online scheme when channel state information about the dynamical system is
available in the low SNR regime. Numerical results are conducted to demonstrate
the effectiveness of our approach
Resource allocation for transmit hybrid beamforming in decoupled millimeter wave multiuser-MIMO downlink
This paper presents a study on joint radio resource allocation and hybrid precoding in multicarrier massive multiple-input multiple-output communications for 5G cellular networks. In this paper, we present the resource allocation algorithm to maximize the proportional fairness (PF) spectral efficiency under the per subchannel power and the beamforming rank constraints. Two heuristic algorithms are designed. The proportional fairness hybrid beamforming algorithm provides the transmit precoder with a proportional fair spectral efficiency among users for the desired number of radio-frequency (RF) chains. Then, we transform the number of RF chains or rank constrained optimization problem into convex semidefinite programming (SDP) problem, which can be solved by standard techniques. Inspired by the formulated convex SDP problem, a low-complexity, two-step, PF-relaxed optimization algorithm has been provided for the formulated convex optimization problem. Simulation results show that the proposed suboptimal solution to the relaxed optimization problem is near-optimal for the signal-to-noise ratio SNR <= 10 dB and has a performance gap not greater than 2.33 b/s/Hz within the SNR range 0-25 dB. It also outperforms the maximum throughput and PF-based hybrid beamforming schemes for sum spectral efficiency, individual spectral efficiency, and fairness index
