    A comprehensive model explaining teachers' intentions to use mobile-based assessment

    This study was conducted to understand pre-service and in-service teachers' intentions to use mobile-based assessment in classes by integrating theory of planned behaviour, technology acceptance model, and self-determination theory into one conceptual framework. Data were analysed using the structural equation model (SEM). Results of SEM from a sample of 522 pre-service teachers and 279 in-service teachers revealed that, compared to existing theories, the proposed model has a better acceptable level of explanatory power for intention to use mobile-based assessment. Results also showed that all the hypothesis relationship among constructs within the model was supported. In addition, the study identified the prominent mediating role of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and attitude and moderating impact of gender on intention to use mobile-based assessment. All in all, the study provides useful implications for policymakers, teacher educators, and school administrators as well as suggestions for future researchers

    Determinants of the continuous use of E-GOV information systems and services in Morocco : Proposing an integrative model

    The digital transformation of public administration is a strategic project that has been initiated by Morocco several years ago. It is a very ambitious project that is of great importance for the development and growth of the country. Yet, its success depends highly on the involvement and participation of citizens. However, in Morocco, there is a lack of comprehensive information regarding the adoption and usage of these solutions, as well as the e-gov satisfaction levels among citizens. This research aligns with theories of information system usage behavior in a post-adoption context and focuses on the user's perspective, emphasizing the importance of studying the peculiarities of their usage behavior in order to promote the success of the systems and solutions offered to them. After addressing the situation of e-gov services in Morocco and presenting the theoretical basis of the research, this article proposes, in its third part, an integrative model composed of a fusion between several theories with the objective to study the continuous use behavior of e-gov services and systems in Morocco. This model includes motivation and satisfaction constructs to explain usage continuance. The proposed model will be the starting point of an empirical study whose goal is to explore all the assumed relationships in the model and to analyze them

    Making finance fun: the gamification of personal financial management apps

    Although gamification is a trending topic, few studies have explored its use in the finance industry. Drawing on SDT and the TAM, this study extends previous research and adds new insights into the effects of gamification in this context. This study integrates self-determination theory (SDT) and the technology acceptance model (TAM) to explore how gamification increases users' motivation and intention to use personal financial management (PFM) apps, and how it facilitates their adoption. Data from 208 users of the Mint app were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results showed that gamifying PFM apps satisfies users' needs for competence and autonomy and enhances their autonomous motivation to use them. Users' motivation increases their perceptions of ease of use and usefulness of the apps and causes them to develop more favorable attitudes toward them. The findings also confirmed a relationship between users' attitudes toward PFM apps and the behavioral intention to use them. To investigate the generalizability of results, studies using other PFM apps would be useful. The cross-sectional nature of the research also limits its causal inference. This research provides support for the use of gamification in PFM apps and offers suggestions that may help fintech companies and banks to persuade users to engage with their apps

    Explaining customer’s continuance intention to use mobile banking apps with an integrative perspective of ECT and Self-determination theory

    Digital payments evolve as the next generation system to take over the global commerce landscape in the same manner in which internet and mobile telephony had dominated the traditional communication domains. The use of mobile banking apps has spurred the digital medium across the globe and resulted in a fundamental shift in retailing practices. The purpose of this paper is to comprehend various factors influencing the customer’s continuance intention-behavior to use mobile banking apps. In this study, we developed a research model that encompasses the attributes of Expectation confirmation theory (ECT) and Self-determination theory (SDT). The research model was tested using survey data collected from 744 respondents across various demographics and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to understand the usage behavior of mobile banking apps in a multi-faceted business environment. The various hypothesis of the research model indicate that mobile banking apps continuance intention usage behavior is strongly influenced by the satisfaction, intrinsic and identified regulations, whereas satisfaction is influenced by the expectation-confirmation, trust, and quality.     Unravelling technology-acceptance factors influencing farmer use of banana tissue culture planting materials in Central Uganda

    Effective management of plant health is fundamental for food and income security to meet the growing demands of local and global markets. This however requires farmers’ adequate access to quality planting materials under the prevailing contextual and psycho-social factors. This study, anchored in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technologies, unravels technology-acceptance factors that influence farmers’ intentions to use banana tissue culture planting materials in the control of Banana Xanthomonas Wilt. Data were collected from 248 randomly sampled banana farmers using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using structural equation modelling to examine hypothesized paths in the uptake of banana tissue culture planting materials. Results show that farmer intentions to use tissue culture planting materials are dependent on two constructs: social influence and farmer innovativeness. However, social influence is the main predictor of intentions to use tissue culture planting materials. In particular, farmer innovativeness mediates facilitating conditions and social influence in predicting intentions to use tissue culture planting materials. Thus, this study reveals two factors that influence farmer intentions to use tissue culture planting materials: social influence and farmer innovativeness. The findings imply that social influence and farmer innovativeness are critical in disseminating novel agricultural technologies in Uganda and elsewhere
