Design and Implementation of Export Shipping System with a Study of the Requirements and Life-Cycle

    Get PDF
The Export Shipping System is focused primarily on upgrading the manual system currently used for tracking export orders and inventory in the shipping department at Square D Company. It consists of a group of program modules which facilitate the receipt, shipment, and associated paperwork involved in the processing of export orders from the time they reach the shipping department through the invoice and subsequent accounting reports. This paper describes the project and the associated software implemented. This description analyzes the project development life-cycle and compares it with the alternative software development life-cycles, as described in the literature in order to identify strengths and weaknesses of the method used in the Export Shipping System. Finally, it will give some afterthoughts about the project development to guide future project development

What’s my Role? Role Perception Issues within a Business Process Outsourcing Software Company.

Business process outsourcing of IT solutions is a common and well embedded practice in many businesses. There has been much research into the aspects of the relationships between businesses and their BPO IT partners that make these relationships successful. Very little research has, however, been undertaken at the lower level of relationships between the specialist professional groups within the BPO IT firms, and how these relationships are affected by the roles each group plays. This paper explores these ideas using qualitative research methods within a current BPO IT firm to expose the key issues. Analysis of these themes is provided, and a model of roles and relationships for the professional groups that operate within such firms is proposed that combines the key attributes of the roles, the key relationships involved and the role each group plays within those relationships. Finally, recommendations are made as to the improvement of current practices to align behaviours with the proposed model

Kattilalaitoksen automaatiosuunnittelu voidaan jakaa eri elinkaarivaiheisiin, joihin liittyy niissä tuotetut toimintakuvaukset. /Kir1

A requirements-based software process maturity model

The requirements phase of software development is an on-going problem for the software engineering community. The many disparate recommendations and best practices found in the literature make it difficult for software organisations to recognise which practices apply to their individual needs. The aim of this thesis is to pull together key solutions into a framework that allows practitioners to assess where their requirements process needs strengthening and to provide a means in which improvements can be achieved. In this thesis I show how I design, develop and validate a model of requirements engineering processes. This requirements capability maturity model (R-CMM) adheres to the characteristics of the Software Engineering Institute's Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM) and is designed to take practitioners from an immature process capability through to an advanced capability. I contribute to the body of knowledge in both software process improvement and requirements engineering (RE) by providing rigorous detail of how a process maturity framework is developed to support RE practices. The model is generic and should apply to many software development organisations. The R-CMM guides users towards a view of RE that is based on goals and is problem driven. The SW-CMM framework is transformed into a simplified model that relates goals and problems to individual RE practises
